Damn! We're going deep into the JRPG fandom here. A visual audiobook of an in-game novel from Trails in the Sky. I'm more excited than I should be tbh. I've gone out of my way to collect and read every book and newspaper in the Kiseki series. I really like Derek's rendition of Micht's voice. The blurry images Derek found and used for Toby look very much like Toval with the spiky, blond hair and white, collared shirt that he is portrayed with. Fabulous attention to detail here, and I sincerely hope this video gets the recognition it deserves.
I missed a lot of books in my runs of these games and always wanted to go back and read them, but I have trouble sitting down and actually reading things so this is perfect for a guy like me. Many thanks
Just want to point out, this is the first comment I ever left on RUclips, I usually just view and move on. But this was amazing man, great job! Hopefully this does well so we can get similar vids for the other books!
Thanks! I may end up doing something similar with those books too, depending on how well this video is received. I really loved working on this project, I just hope there's enough interest from Falcom fans to make this weeks-long project worthwhile. If not, I may do more basic audiobook readings in my Discord server. :)
I've always never been able to focus when reading Carnelia so this audiobook was definitely a huge help and I really appreciate how you delivered it and presented the story itself. This honestly makes me appreciate Ein and "Toby" more than I did previously. If you ever feel like returning to this I'd love if you did Red Moon Rose
I'm coming across this at the same time. Just started the 3rd today. After the Carnelia reference, I decided to look it up and, sure enough, this popped up at the top!
Amazing work, Derek! I finally played through Trails in the Sky the other day, missing several of the books along the way, so I was finally able to watch this. Had it in the back of my mind for a few years now lol
Dude this was great! When I played SC I completed every side quest I could but only found a few books. When I play rpg's I don't look up anything, I go in completely blind. By the end of the game I didn't have all the books so I shrugged it off and never read it, but thanks to you I finally know what it was all about! You rock man.
That was amazing ! That hours long video feels like it lasted about 15 minutes! The blurry background with your reading skills really help setting the tone of the story to another level. I already share it to a private kiseki fb group , let's hope you will get the attention that your work deserve. Keep up the good work and I'm looking forward the next one if this is successful!
Nice! Something to listen to while at work today. Thanks for all the content SuperDerek, I'm a somewhat new subscriber and have really gotten into your videos lately. Keep it up!
This is really good! The visuals going with it are fun. Listening reminded me of being a kid having my dad read to me. 😀 The reading had a lot of care and I can’t imagine the work that went into making it. The audio effects were great as well going so far as to change the audio mix for left and right was very immersive. Thanks so much for making this!
Thank you for this. I couldn't be bothered to read this in game but I don't wanna miss out. Just started chapter 2 of the game and have 4 chapters of Carnelia
I'm going to wait to give a listen to this in a few months, I read carnelia not that long ago, but great work Derek, if you record Hertz's Adventure I might listen. And I don't know Derek I saw the beginning and is instantly reminded me of Solid Snake speech in the end of MGS 2 XD
Please do these for the other bOoks. As someone with severe dyslexia I cannot read these and enjoy them. This was amazing. Even if you don’t thanks anyway :)
This is the first audio "book" I listened to. Not planning on listening to others per say but if you do doll knight or back alley dr glenn or something Ill for sure give it a go! Doll knight looks like it might be applicable once we get hajimari though.
I'm listening to this while working and I'm enjoying it. You've always had a great tone to your voice. You could have been an old time radio announcer. Did you write this?
Thanks, I'm glad you like it! This audiobook is based on a series of optional, collectable books within Trails in the Sky FC. So it actually takes place within that game's universe, so some aspects of the world are expanded upon throughout the game (e.g. orbments, artifacts, Bracers etc.)
@@SuperDerek the accompanying visual pieces fit well. I liked the blurred imagery. The audio quality was excellent. Reminded me of Final Fantasy X-2.5: Eien no Daishō. Well done man!

I can't be the only one who wants more of the series books in this format right? Mad props mate. Keep up the great, amazing work.
Half a minute in and I'm already on board. This is great work, Derek.
A shame this did not well enough for more. I was truly impressed.

Oh man what a great idea. Would love to see this done for Gambler Jack and the Doll Knight as well.

Really cool idea.
Red Moon Rose! Red Moon Rose!
Only half way through, but this is amazing! You're so good at this. I really hope you do all of the Trails books as I'll be on board for every one.
Great innovation Derek. This is outstanding..
Thanks dude! :)

Awesome, I am working my way through the Trails in the sky games ( just started the 3rd) so this was a real treat. Thank you for making my day better.

Fantastic job Derek. There was a lot of effort put into this visual audiobook, and it shows. Thanks for all the work.
POV: You lost your glasses and went to the theatre anyway.

This is perfect to listen to when I need to sit back and relax. I really enjoyed it and would love to hear more stories told in this style.
Thank you for listening, I hope you feel better soon!
great job i'm excited to see if you make more videos of other books from the series
This is really well made, thank you for making this!
You just made my night. Thank you
Absolutely awesome 😎

I didn't even know I needed this!
So good! Loved it!
Really cool idea and great execution as well. I hope you end up doing something similar for the other books in the Trails games
Simply FANTASTIC. PLEASE do more!
Well I know what I'm listening to at work today!
Thank you for this. I couldn't be bothered to read this in game but I don't wanna miss out. Just started chapter 2 of the game and have 4 chapters of Carnelia

Such a great voice!
Man this was awesome thanks
Damn. I already read this one myself in-game but this is cool for you to do. Did not expect!
This was amazing, thank you for this I hope you do the rest of the Trails books
Nice!
As I’m just now getting into the trails series I need more of these lol
Really enjoy the vibe of this audiobook. I would love to see one for 3 & 9, due to the relevance it has in trails into reverie.
This is pretty cool
I like it. Consider including other RUclipsrs and voice actors like Lady Virigilia to have more voice overs in future audiobooks
Very well done.
Holy crap I loved this I only wish there had been more
Well, this is awesome. This is helpful because it’s hinted the Sky Third chapter
Please do these for the other bOoks. As someone with severe dyslexia I cannot read these and enjoy them. This was amazing.
Even if you don’t thanks anyway :)
Oh wow I was hoping someone read the books in this series.
Thanks for this dude!!!
you bet dude! Thanks for giving it a listen! :)

Doll knight looks like it might be applicable once we get hajimari though.
reddit brought me here, thanks for that great work!
Thanks Patrick! :)
Very nice. This was very fun. Thanks! One small typo right at the start is that the name is spelled 'Ein', not 'Ain'.

There are insane Cold Steel references in this story a decade before Cold Steel even came out.
I skipped reading Carnelia for years because I'm a lazy reader. Thanks for this.
*THANK YOU*
You're welcome. :)
niiice i wanted to read the books to know the story Toby (Toval Randonneur in Cold steel)
Poor Toval
time to shill this on all kiseki discords
I really appreciate it!
Hey, can you link me some Kiseki discords?
Derek, this was so flingin' flangin' cool. Thank you very much for this. Did you ever decide to do the others, even if just via Discord?
Great production, wish the text had greater prose - give us more? :)
Good stuff Derek! Let's collab!
JRPGUSAKING!
