The concept of a building competition is so fun and refreshing to see! If you ever decide to revamp or recreate the game, I'd to play it, and I'm sure a lot of others would too. :)
I think learning to code is a completely achievable thing for any 10-12 year old to do. Especially with Roblox Lua which is one of the simplest and most easy to use programming language. As anything does, it takes time to learn but I can assure you that it is completely doable.
i am currently 11, and i don’t know how to write my own code but i do understand a good amount of what each line does. i’ve loved trying to program ever since i was like 8 years old but i was too young to understand tutorials on how to script. i’ve always used tutorials to write my own code. however now i feel like i understand a little bit more by just how many tutorials ive watched and the fact that im older, so i’ve started to watch some tutorials on how to script. i’m definitely getting there. any tips for me would be appreciated
@@twonix as a scripter; i can relate the process is so frustrating, i recommend before streaming you know the exact lines of codes you need to use and what your making beforehand, i usually just think of what functions, events, variables I need and just start you should probably use notes or something on the side so there is less chance of error, coding is so fun when you fix a frustrating mistake. Also You should consider making tutorial; The next thing I'm going to learn following a tutorial by TheDevKing is TweenService I think it's called, I'd really be interested to watch your tutorial if you make one; doesn't have to be long just good enough to explain it's usage, how to do it and explain it in client/server terms [ie. if you do a remoteEvent It goes from Localscript to script]. There isn't much contest in the lua tutorial genre so you would gain a good following, you are able to explain on a topic over and over which is a good skill, usually if a topic is being repeated it's way boring, but you manage to find an unintentional way to make it more engaging. Your tutorials can be how you like them ofcourse but I recommend more open tutorials rather then tutorials like GnomeCode's tutorials where he does specific genres more then normal ones; I'm aware he has a lua tutorial but all the lua tutorials currently are so old and outdated, they work yes but most of the people don't reply to mistakes, ways to make it more efficient, etc; and none i've seen include usage other then the video's main test genre to explain it. Sorry for the long paragraph but just wanted to recommend it since you have good explanation skills and can really strive in the lua tutorial genre if you started one. TL;DR: start tutorials for lua plz, also i'm suprised at how few videos you have and you got 4k subs.
I was also an old game developer. I use to always code roleplay games WITH ABSOULUTLY NO EFFORT, and to this day (Without advertisement, not even on my profile) it got 4000 visits, that happened to every single one of my roleplay games besides the ones i was actually working on..
i keep wacthing how beginers went from beginers to good coders and notice the creativity the have and the one i lack.I could vouch that the reason poeple like you get better is bc you never give up and continue advancing to new levels.Bravo
The real key to improvement especially in programming is to work on projects, preferably ones that you find interesting. It allows you to really proactively think about the components and how to assimilate your knowledge. It's fine if you don't know how to do something, which is actually a constant part of programming in general, which is why documentations and forums exist and they help you gain a new perspective on how to make your desired effect.
I started building at the age of 12 and it was honestly pretty decent back then, thanks to practice I can build really well now and make a variety of stuff
this is how childhood goes: 5 year old u look at video, 6 year old you still look at video but u think of something, 7-8 year old you start making videos, 9-11 making video not work out so make game, 11 to early 12 you look at scrip tutorial but nothing works, 12 to 14 u start to build and model and it actually works so u stick to it until u get bored edit: the 9-11 was not intended lol
I'm an "ameteur" "builder" at best but your Portal 2 build is pretty good tbh. I'm def biased cuz I like brick/part built games rather than using models, but it does resemble the game quite well. While improvements could be made it looks nice. And considering you were young its impressive too.
its surprising that back in yo days, you still we're an insane developer i mean, i learned scripting in like, 2 years ago, and for you 7 years ago, you we're INSANE!
As someone who started learning to make games at the age of 12 on Roblox (2008; that's 15 years ago.....), I think that 10-12 is the prime time to begin learning, if not sooner if possible. I'm also in a similar boat as you, I want to make a successful game, but just haven't been able to in the 15 years I've been on Roblox. I am nowhere near as good of a builder as you are though.
ok so the game you made in 9:30 of the video/ the replay house concept would be SOOO good for a replay high school, like opening doors, opening lockers, light switches, all those little things would be really good in a high school replay, I think more people would want to play something like that.
3:45 I have something similar I did, but mine was for building a bunker to survive zombie waves lol, it failed you couldnt use the weapons lol but you could build and tp to others xD
I love your idea for the room-build battle! A while back there was I game I loved called TERIO Home Design Battle that did this concept. But, it broke and now it doesn't exist. Definitely a wonderful idea.
I skunking LOVE the idea of having a game where you need to design a room within amount of time with a style for the room! Also Loved seeing all your old games!
omg i really love the concept of "wheres da glasses" it could be a competition on whoever finds the glasses first. There could be different maps and stuff
For your old games, fine maybe the first and second were not the best but compare to mine, i started around 8 years ago to play roblox and still to this day all my games are trash.
ok this is fucking awesome. i normally code for fun and am probably progressing slower than most. i started making games at 11 and didnt script until i was 12 or 13 (and i didnt really understand it). only last year did i start properly understanding stuff enough to make my own games. i still use free models as a base to start on stuff tho as its easier than just remembering
as a ten year old I can relate to this, Ive made shitty games in the past and I really wonna get rid of them 😅 but I think one of my games me and a fellow 10 year old made (it was my idea) was just trying to recreate doors from the knowledge of roblox studio we had, it got 318 visits of the time of typing this.
i remember playing a game that was similar to ur idea of building within a time limit, i can’t remember the game but it was really cool but didn’t survive cause not a lot of ppl played
No way you played CSOM! It sucks that the guy who made it (Toast22A) kinda gave up on the project and the game is slowly slowly declining. I and others have tried contacting him but he's hard to reach and im guessing doesn't really want to pursue it anymore. Shame to see a game with such potential go to waste considering i've made some of my closest roblox friends on there. It'd be cool if someone could reignite the spark he had and take it on again.
