Congratulations..I'm happy to see your step of putting the project together ❤. Love from Uganda, I'm also setting up a chicken house...planning on completion of phase 1 by 15th August
Wonderful! I have had so much fun building the coops and raising chickens. Good luck on your journey and thanks for the support. Uganda is beautiful and will certainly come back again to visit💖💖
Gogo that's nice. I hope you extended the roof before bringing in the chicken because the rain would easily enter that house and affect the chicken. I would also clear the bush before bringing the chicken. Sorry, I'm talking from experience I have a 72k chicken farm in Kenya. Deep litter system.
There is water everywhere, ground water I mean. It is locating it that is a challenge. We are in the city of Bulawayo so city water and electricity are available .
Hi Nobu. I got the sacks from Farm and City. There are other stores that sell seeds and farm tools that have them also like Pro Feeds. You can also use mealie meal bags if you are able to collect as you use up the mealie meal. Anything that can 'breathe' allowing good air flow for the chickens and at the same time providing warmth.
Gogo, this is a great project! I know you guys returned to Zimbabwe from the U.S.A. What is your monthly budget like compared to the States? For example groceries, electricity, water and internet etc. I am in Canada and I have about 15 years to go before my retirement and I was wondering whether Zimbabwe is a good option for retirement or should I plan to go to the Caribbean every six months to get away from the winters?
Hi Dumisani. Our budget for expenses each month is waaay below what we had abroad. Food is priced fairly and you can choose local brands that are just as good. Imported items are pricey. I am still learning how to "juice" my phone and buy bundles for data and calls. If you do not use too much data and too many calls , you can minimize your cost. You have ample time to formulate a strategy to be able to retire in Zim. I will not hesitate to say it is worth it to come home. I love it here🧡
Beautiful!!!Now looking to the arrival of the little birds:)
Many thanks🥰 Keep watching, we are almost there!

Fantastic project - lovely chicken house. Well done you👏🏾. How many chickens can you fit in there? .....just curious 🤔
Thank you. I am having fun with it. For that size coop, I was advised 250 birds can fit in there. I will start small small, this is my first rodeo😂🥰
Good job
Thank you
Hi gogo, how many marata did you use on this house, and the length of it?
Eish, I will go out and count for you and get back. It's been a long time don't remember😉
The length is eight meters. The maratas are about 3.5 meters each

Thank you for sharing, where is the best place to buy the curtains for the coop?
