Wow... this brings back so many memories! I remember seeing this in 1999 with my family. And my dad got to be picked to be the Beets drummer. Thank you for uploading this! :)
The song is "You Make The Call". I don't know if it was ever used on the tv show, but it follows the stage show's theme of "Be yourself" so it was probably written for the show along with all the other music.
That was so cool about the premier of Doug's 1st Movie! Pretty awesome that the Olsen twins and the Lawrence brothers attended. They were awesome in the `90s. :D
I was just talking about this show just last week with my friends, who didn't know about it and then became upset that they never got to see it. I saw this show back in 1999, and one of the only things I really remembered about it (until watching this again here) was my father and I discussing about how perfect the person playing Skeeter was. Thanks for being so awesome then, and so awesome again for uploading this here!
I think the first time I saw this show was when I was seven; my grandparents had come with my family to Florida that year, and it was about a year or so before my grandfather died. And now I'm hooked on the show again, lol!
This brings back FLOODS of memories! I was onen of those dedicated show lovers who watched this show weekly... every Thursday actually. I miss this amazing show and its amazing cast! BTW Jenn B was my absolute FAVE Patti!
A child was selected from the audience before the show. Once in a while "Quail Kid" would chicken out when it was time to go on stage, which happened at this particular performance, so we had to improvise with a diminutive actor who happened to be there learning the show.
Thank you so much for posting this! I knew someone who also very good friends with Skeeter so I saw the show often. Though I was only vaguely familiar with the TV show, I thought Disney's Doug Live was amazing. Please know all your hard work was appreciated!
The Disney cast member choir is doing a charity concert and "Someone Like Me" is one of the selections. You should definitely come to see it, it's Aug. 16-18
It was recorded on a 30 minute vhs tape so that's where the tape cuts off. The song lasts about another 5 seconds and everyone runs out the back, except Skeeter who stops and says "Be yourself...cool theme!" To which Doug replies, "Why do you think they call it...a THEME park". The audience groans and the show is over.
Oh my goodness! I loved this as a kid! I used to watch it every Saturday Morning! This made me cry because it reminded me when times were simple. I'm now having a kid of my own and I assure you he or she will be raised upon things like I watched back in the day. Not like some of this garbage they got on now.
You know, people say stuff about this show, but only because they've never performed before. I've never gone professional ^^; but I do know the...well, the exhilaration that comes with performing...So poo-poo to those who have something negative about this show. It looks like the actors all had a great time, and I bet the audience did too. I couldn't stop smiling throughout the whole show! Once again, thanks for reminding me of just why I love performing so very much!
It's a real bummer that the shows were cancelled! Not only is the live show better than most of the other shows in MGM/Hollywood Studios, but the TV show was SOOO much better than the junk on Disney now! I hope someone decides to bring both Doug shows back someday soon!
So I admit, I've watched this half a dozen times... and I must say I've always loved the music, especially Someone Like Me. What I was wondering is if you knew of a place I could get a copy of the song, actually any of the songs from this would be wonderful to find. And thanks for posting it... you did a wonderful performance! :-)
Thank you for posting this. I really loved the trivia.Where did you get the trivia? I had wanted to see this when I was at Disney-MGM and I didn't get there in time.Thanks for posting it so I could see what I had missed.. The trivia added to my enjoyment.
At Disney you're not technically allowed to say you "play" a character since they're all supposed to be real. So instead you say you're "good friends with" whoever...so, no, I wasn't Doug.
@luvdabuff Yeah I kinda just figured that out when I found the preview version. I kinda liked it better except I'm glad you got that line about the president. I think it looks better for you coming out of the bathroom with a line than just falling out silent.
How do you know so much about the inner workings of the show and wouldn't taping two mics together just cause feedback? I've worked in theater for 6 years and I know what you mean about mics going out but I've never heard of tapping two mics together like that. For some shows we had hand held mics when the body mic went out but it doesn't always make sense to use a hand held.
As they say at Disney, I was "good friends" with Skeeter. Glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. And yes, we had a blast with this show for over 2 years : )

My old high school drama teacher played Roger at some point during the show's run

All I can say is AWESOME!!!

You did a great job playin Skeeter, luvdabuff!

@Monkeeperson Sorry, no cd was produced. Glad you like the songs though : )
Skeeter? Wow! AWESOME JOB!!!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
no, he played Skeeter. I love that name by the way, lol

@FilmsKayCee Thank you!
@Misshumanoidtyphoon Thanks!
Well, yes, Quailkid was backstage for about 20 minutes before coming on. They only had one line.

I don't know of anywhere the song is available. It played over the credits of "Doug's 1st Movie" but I don't think there was a soundtrack.
@RialVestro I played Skeeter
does quilkid have any time to remember his/her lines because they are as you said a pre picked audence kid
@luvdabuff Yeah I kinda just figured that out when I found the preview version. I kinda liked it better except I'm glad you got that line about the president. I think it looks better for you coming out of the bathroom with a line than just falling out silent.
ok and so it also answers my question for the beat band for when they had any time to pratice their fake but looking real playing show
Any chance of this coming back? I must see this in person before I die.

@1992crazykid Sorry, the tape ran out at the end. Glad you enjoyed it though!
Aww I'm sad the end of this got cut off.
Awsome!
Skeeter
@RialVestro I was in it.
Patti sounds like Betty Boop when she sings!
@luvdabuff Which one are you?
@luvdabuff Great job ^ ^
I about shit my pants at the Skeeter thinks Doug is an asshole thing.
@Horn122393 heck yes :D
had a blast when you weren't smiling at pictures of the holocaust I bet. Seriously though, I feel like crap I never saw this live.
