I have a 2018. I put 32000 miles on it in 2 years. 9 sets of tires later, I still love it! Peels my eyelids back! Stuff it in the corners and it handles like a cafe bike! Still stock. It is the most thrilling and reliable machine I have ever owned! It scares the poo out of me everytime I ride it, which makes me want to ride it again! So much fun!

Mine is a 2015 carbon edition, which is same same like all the others Gen2 except for the painted prts are not painted but full carbon fibre and the exhaust is an Akrapovic - originally from Yamaha like that.
Anyway, I have like 35k mls on the clock and all I needed was tires, fuel and oil change every 10k miles.
I got her new brake pads and new brake and clutch liquid just some weeks ago even though it all still worked fine. No issues at all, and I ride that bike at all weather conditions except for snow. That bike is so heavily underrated as everyday vehicle...
With the Gen1 I did 60k MLS without any issue and I still ride it once in a while.
VMax is rock solid, esp if you treat her like a normal bike.
Might be different when you put it to a drag strip frequently or when you hammer it often. That said, if you hammer it often on public road, you will be imprisoned for speeding or dead from an accident before that bike gets issues.
Always remember: no traction control but your wrist, no wheelie control but its weight and no driving mode but your brain.
      This bike is pure.

I own a 2014 Max. I have not fully opened the throttle from a dead start. From a rolling start, say 5 to 20 mph, open the throttle half way and the rear will smoke. The bike is so stable and the wheelbase is so long the front wheel will never come off the ground. Owners take care of your Max. 2021 is the last year of production.

Rode a VMax back in the mid 2000s at Yamaha Corp event. It felt like someone at Yamaha was very high on something when they made this, and decided to put a V2 Rocket on a bicycle on a kamikaze mission for no reason whatsoever. When I pulled the throttle, I was like "holy shit...holy shiiiiit"...a pure insanity, and that is exactly why this bike was, and still is, incredible.

I bought a 1992 Kawasaki ZZR 1100, and it was the first production motorcycle that had ram air system, witch in fact is basically a turbo light, and it kicks in around 4-5000 rpm and you can feel the boost. The ram air is the air intake pipes on front of the bike. It's awesome...

    • @TEAMPOWERSPORTS
      @TEAMPOWERSPORTS  Год назад +1

If you're an experienced rider, its not a difficult bike to ride, shifts are smooth, seating position is fairly comfortable for what it is, handling is decent for the size. The only caution I would give riding one for the first time, is treat it like the first time you ever rode a bike, be that careful when you're getting moving and when you're cornering, because the power on the VMAX is absurd.

Put 15,000 miles on it before i lost it to a curve at too high of a speed.

If you twist the throttle too much you are dead.
There is an info-screen with some additional info like trip counter and fuel gauge.
If you need an entertainment system on a bike you riding the wrong bike.
If you need ride modes for rain, you are not good enough for the bike you riding.

I just couldn’t pull the trigger on buying the 2nd gen v max. As much as I loved the looks, I was coming from a Harley V Rod and knew how much it sucked to constantly be looking for gas stations. A cruiser that gets 100 miles per tank isn’t much of a cruiser lol.
Then there’s the weight. A quick internet search shows the vmax at 683 lbs. That would be like me having a VERY heavy passenger on the back of my Streetfighter V4S. Doable, sure. But why?
The adventure and naked bikes offer riding comfort you can’t get in the sport class while still delivering super bike performance. Plus gas mileage that lets you stay on the road longer.
I really, really wanted a vmax. But it would have been aesthetics alone making that decision. When I saw this video, I guess I was hoping Yamaha had figured out a way to improve the cruising part of their power cruiser.

It’s just too heavy for me to consider it a hyper naked. The last model of the VMax was 200hp, but was almost 700lbs. My Streetfighter V4s (when it was stock) was 208hp with a wet weight of about 430 lbs. The race kit bumped mine up to 216 hp and shaved off around 15 lbs. You really feel even that much of a weight difference.

This generation of the VMAX incepted in 08-09, if you watch further into the video it goes into the history of the bike, and the first generation. Thanks for watching and commenting!

What made you rev up a brand new engine like that? I know that it is difficult to ride that bike without testing its features but doing so, you should respect the owner.
That is the reason why I bought both my Maxes (1200 and 1700) brand new. I simply wanted to be sure that the preowner did not any of these silly things like revving up in cold conditions or a brand new engine. I don't want to have any issues with a bike that comes with such a price tag.
    Apart from that, nice review.

When comparing it to the other 200 hp bikes, you didn't compare the torque. Those other bikes put out 80-90 ft/lbs. The VMAX puts out about 120. That's what males the VMAX way more insane than the other bikes.

Try a 2020 Rocket 3. 165 ft-lbs of torque. Most on a production motorcycle. Nothing can touch me off the line.

thank you very much finally somebody asks the question why in God's name would you want to have a Vmax
and the answer for me is incredibly simple and straight to the point
    I am short 173cm
I cannot get my feet at the ground if I havea Yamaha R1 it's simple
    I want something incredibly fast
that I can put my feet to the ground
and this is the solution finally a motor bike build for people with short legs
and with the need for incredibly speed.

80 miles and the fuel warning light will come on. The rider only feel a neglible amount of vibe from the handlebar. The rest of the bike is smooth as cream. U can actually ride all day and your hands will never get num.
