    Just bought a ROCKET. Being that I’ve now owned both a V-MAX and now a ROCKET, I can say that I’ve lived in both worlds. BOTH have amazing power! BOTH have neck snapping looks! YOU CANT GO WRONG WITH EITHER BIKE! With great power comes great responsibility.

    Love all three of these bikes! I drive a 85 VMax, so I would likely stay with the dark side of the force and go with the VMax. All of these bikes are amazing.

    Diavel is tempting with its low weight and sporty ride but moneywise-performancewise-valueformoneywise Yamaha wins hands down.

      I've had a vmax years ago and now I have a 2021 Ducati Diavel S. Given the two, I prefer the Diavel hands down. Ducati has so much more to offer in everything over the Yamaha. Just the technology on the Ducati alone is enough to blow away the competition.

      @@chincemagnet you're close... The value of the Ducati is better as well since it offers so much more than the antiquated vmax. The Diavel is far superior for not much more money.

    I have a 2018 Vmax. The torque and power is mind numbing. Instant power, from idle to 9500 rpm. It handles great! )-60 Is crazy, and around 75-80mph it lights the back tire up, spinning like I am on sand. I stuff it in the corners hard, and it sticks. Out of the corner, there is crazy power on the exit.

      @John B In a recent study, Yamaha was #1 in most reliable. Surprisingly, it even beat out the Honda, who was tied in second place with Suzuki. I knew Honda was good, but I didn't expect them to beat Honda. However, since I've been a Suzuki guy since I had a TS185 in high school, I'm thrilled about the Suzi results, too. @@totalglitch Hi. I’m 5’7” with a 29-30” inside leg. Never have a problem with the pegs, although some people have mentioned it. The bike is also low enough for us shorter types in that you can position your feet clear of them anyway. I would say go for it, while you can still get one. They really are one of the easiest bikes to ride, even at walking pace in town traffic. They are heavy, but only noticeable when wheeling it in and out of the garage. Once on the move it is actually very stable and incredibly manoeuvrable, much more than you would expect. If you are a competent rider you could easily keep up with sports bikes. Build quality is the best I have ever seen. The bike has such presence, and the great thing is no one else has one, so you’ll be totally unique! I always buy niche bikes, my Moto Guzzi Griso 1200 was the same. Better to stand out from the crowd in my opinion! Good luck!

    Actually Triumph updated the official numbers for the new Rocket III 2 days ago (18 Jun 2019) and it's now:
    HP = 180 @ 7000rpm
    Torque = 166 lb/ft (225Nm)@ 4000rpm
    Dry Weight = 290kg (639lbs)
    Also the high price of the Rocket III compare to the other is because they are making only a limited special production of 750 on the first year and they will be making a more mainstream version (and more affordable) the year after.

    Given that the Vmax has been unchanged since 2009 and has no electronic modes for riding, it is still very competitive. I'd like to see the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. I'm sure the Rocket will trounce the Vmax on 0-6 but I'm not so sure on the 1/4 mile. If Yamaha would just update the electronics and drop a few pounds. These could be done with minimal cost since they already have the E stuff and shaving some weight with lighter wheels, shaft cover, exhaust shouldn't be cost prohibitive. Launching the Vmax is my biggest challenge as it either wants to spin the tire or the clutch has to be modulated and does bark back when you do. Come on Yamaha, you MADE the muscle cruiser, now MAKE it again! Love the bike all the same and wouldn't give it up...unless they did the above.
