Dany lost herself in the war. Her anger got the better of her and she became the dragon. Pain changes people. Sometimes in the most brutal way. I'm not mad at her. I'm heartbroken for her.

+1 you really hit the nail on the head. The Khaleesi has been through so much and all she has ever done was make the world a better place. She lost a dragon... no, a *child* , and one of her closest friends to the Knight King. Without her sacrifice, everyone in Westeros would be dead. How is she repaid? Varys plots to use a little girl to murder her with poison as she mourned. Her best friend is murdered right in front of her. Another child is savagely sniped out of the skies. All she wanted to do was to make the realm better. I feel for my Khaleesi and will never abandon her!!
When a fan made video is better pacing than season 8
In the midst of the ongoing hatred, let's try and analyse the episode.
Before we begin, here's the exchange between Ned Stark and Robert Baratheon.
Ned Stark: You will dishonor yourself forever if you do this.
Robert Baratheon: Honor?! I've got Seven Kingdoms to rule! One King, Seven Kingdoms! Do you think honor keeps them in line?! Do you think it's honor that's keeping the peace?! IT'S FEAR! FEAR AND BLOOD!
I found many symbolism and parallels in this episode.
Let's start with the name of this episode, The Bells. This name rings a bell (Yep) for those who knows their history.
Battle of the Bells was the decisive battle which shifted the odds in Robert's favor during his rebellion, many believe Battle of Trident to be the game changer, although it was, but Battle of the bells marked the beginning of the end for Targaryen Dynasty.
How things came full circle.
A Lannister sacked the city and ultimately ended the Targaryen Dynasty, now a Targaryen sacked the city and ended the Lannister Dynasty.
Pycelle manipulated Aerys into opening the gates for Tywin Lannister, meaning the gates weren't breached but opened from the inside.
Dany blew those same gates from the inside.
Why was Cersei's death both satisfactory and perfect.?
I will answer that soon, but first let's talk about the elephant (Yep) in the room.
The sack of Kingslanding.
Was it premeditated? Nope. Not at all.
When Tyrion told her about the bells, she genuinely wanted to go with that, that's what she ordered Greyworm to do.
So what happened.?
Bells happened.
While she was on that rooftop waiting for the bells, she had every intention of leaving things at that, but when the bells began to rang she took a trip down the memory lane.
(Hats off to Emilia Clarke for such an intense and incredible performance)
Upon hearing those bells and staring at the red keep, she imagined the horror her family and her brother's family must have felt during the sack of Kingslanding, the terror in which Elia Martell was, the screams of little Rhaenys and baby Aegon who had no idea what was happening, then mountain came, crushed Aegon's head into a pulp, stabbed Rhaenys while Elia was watching and then raped her while the brain matter of her son was still on his hands, and then killed her as well.
(This is why Cersei's death was so perfect, the horror Tywin inflicted upon Rhaegar's family came upon his own family, especially on those whom he favoured the most, the terror and horror in Cersei's eyes for her baby, as well as with Jamie was similar to what Elia and her kids went through).
After that Dany remembered everything that happened because of the rebellion, losing their home, begging on the streets, all those who died from Willem darry to Missandei, from silver to Rhaegal. And what did she get in return? Complete distrust and fear.
So if they fear her despite doing the good, then yes, Let it be fear.
She is not mad, what madness is for other people is a regular Monday for a Targaryen.
I told this a few times before maybe others did as well, Cersei did turn the city into a trap, if Dany had accepted the surrender, she would have blown up the city with the wildfire caches that we saw exploding during the episode.
Kingslanding was ground zero, and people chose to be in that place, they chose Cersei who hid behind a curtain during the Great war, while Dany literally fought the threat with her own hands.
Also many who died in that fire were soldiers as well.
She is a khaleesi and Dothraki follow those who can instill fear among their subject, a wise ruler should inspire a little fear, that's what Tyrion said.
Take a look at the history and you will see what a weak and gullible ruler ends up having at his doorstep.
Speaking about Greyworm, Dany had many loyal people with her, be it Jorah, Selmy, Naharis or Missandei. But Greyworm topped them all.
Like I said, the sack wasn't premeditated, so as soon as Dany began her assault, Greyworm quickly followed without hesitating, that was quite a moment.
About Cersei and valonqar prophecy.
"When your tears have drowned you,(she was crying profusely) the valonqar shall wrap his hands (Jamie was embracing her) about your pale white throat (what happens when you are terrified to your bone thinking about your imminent death, you do turn pale white) and choke the life from you.”(the ruble wouldn't have killed her instantly, it's possible she died a painful death gasping to breath).
In S7 we had this conversation between Dany and Olenna.
"Dany : I am not here to be queen of the ashes.
Lady Olenna : I can't remember a queen who was better loved than my granddaughter . . . and what is left of her now? Ashes. Commoners, nobles, they're all just children, really. They won't obey you unless they fear you."
It's not that Dany forgot what she said here like some memes are suggesting, she just chose not to take the overrated moral high ground, instead she chose to heed Olenna's realistic advice.
Then we had this part.
"Olenna: Peace never lasts, my dear. Will you take a bit of advice from an old woman?
I've known a great many clever men. I've outlived them all. You know why? I ignored them. The lords of Westeros are sheep. Are you a sheep? No. You're a dragon. Be a dragon."
She became a dragon soon after this with Field of Fire and Tarly's execution, but her mistake was that she again went back to the morally correct advices of Tyrion and Varys and Jon, that's what costed her the most.
Someone else should have died instead of Olenna, things would have been better a long time ago.
Better late than never, Dany finally accepted her dragon part.
I will end this with one quick fact.
During the onset of Robert's rebellion, Hoster Tully burned villages to the ground when they refused to betray the Targaryens.

Easily the best and most complex character on the show. I like her being a villain. Not mad because she don't seem mad to me.
Cersei was up there for complex characters too. I will miss her. I'm happy she was in most of the episodes though.

@@MoonsCamelot "conflicted" might be closer? She's always shown both sides of the proverbial Targaryen coin, and has been teetering on the brink with only her aides to keep her level. The George RR Martin theme of dark and light in everyone, no pure heroes or villains, has made people root for her in the hope that she landed on the better side of the coin, and challenges our decision once it lands differently.
Sansa also is complex character and misunderstood
Deanerys is not really a complex character.. She was a Mary Sue for so long and now she is so powerful that it goes meh. They were building her up to this from first season, you can easily see that. I was watching got three times and I really hate her character now. She wouldn't have anything without men. Even dragons.
She has nothing but grief and her last dragon. Truly she feels pain . Daenerys is my fav still . She is one that lost most and been betrayed 😢❤️🐉

i honestly think she was having a mental breakdown when she burnt down kings landing and i mean who wouldn't after being raped, abused, watching basically everyone you love and care for die, etc. she shouldn't have done it and i do not agree with what she did, but i understand why she did it. people aren't perfect, there's a certain point and trauma that can break the mind very badly

I still support my Khaleesi. They poked the sleeping Dragon, plain and simple. Dany tried diplomacy and that got one of her Dragons shot dead and her best friend and closest adviser beheaded while in chains, right in front of her. The Khaleesi's benevolence was paid back with treachery, and so no longer could she take what was hers with diplomacy... she decided to take what is hers with *fire and blood* and I support her 100%

@@bleetscube4460 Some new information has come to my attention. As it turns out, Bran may have warged Drogon-- which is why it appeared as if though she was going for the Red Keep and then Drogon suddenly burns civilians. Also, we never see the Khaleesi's reaction while it is happening.
Still, even if that theory is wrong, the Khaleesi was in the right in what she did.

Except none of that matters. She knowingly killed innocent peasants including children in her rampage. She talks about not being her father and virtue signals all her great and noble deeds and driving out a tyrant but in the end she turns into her father.
The peasants in Kings didn't kill her dragons or any of her friends they didn't steal the Iron throne. There only crime is trying to survive and mind there own business.
It's like someone in your apartment building stole your car so you beat up everyone in the entire apartment complex as "revenge" . You're just hurting innocent people who had nothing to do with the crime itsself.

Exactly. Emilia said herself that it's not Targaryen craziness; it's hurt, and trauma, and pain, anguish, betrayal, grief, annihilation. Dany had a right to do everything she did, and I stand by her.
@Lord Shrenny In a world that has shown and established feats of extreme violence, horror, blood, gore, and murders already, I'm not surprised at all that this happened. Dany may not be who she was a few seasons ago, but I know that if I were her, and had that power after everything the world had done to me, I would've made the exact same choice.

The man who sits on the thrones shouldn’t be the man who takes it. It should be the man who deserves it. You obviously have learned nothing through this story.
I don’t think she got mad, but she’d become cruel and hard hearted. She learned finally that she wouldn’t get power by kindness and mercy, and if winning means innocent people’s death she will go for it. She chose to burn KL after they had surrendered , because she saw how efficient FEAR was to bring victory, which she needed most. After all, her primary goal was to rule and she couldn’t afford another failure. A burnt kings landing is scary enough to let other players “bend the knee”. That’s my speculation from the poor story telling on TV, hope I am right.

@@jcdenton7261 She did win that battle, not the war. After defeating Cersei and taking KL, every noble house in westeros would have had to bend the knee to her... do you think they would have? I don't think so (taking into consideration how she has been treated in the north and by the Tarlys) All she had left was fear and I think she destroyed KL knowing perfecly the consequencies. She made KL an exemple for everyone else in westeros to see: Bend the knee, or die.
Or at least I think this should be what she is doing...I'm struggling accepting the fact they destroyed her character...
I think they would of. If she just didnt start torching shit, they would of captured and executed cersei, the north and the vale and Yara in the iron islands have declared for her. They said the new prince of Dorne had declared for her. Stormlands, Riverlands very doubtfully have enough men left to revolt and all those lords took up arms against house lannister. Im sure they wont be fussed. That just leaves the reach. Well the tyrells were already declared for her and most likely all their vassals. Even if a few resisted theres just not enough of them left. Plus only euron crows eye can shoot down a dragon apparently haha. Literally all she had to do was sit her entitled ass on that throne and that would of been it
Ive seen a lot of these types of videos but this one by far illustrated what led Dany to do what she did.
I was shocked, but not by Dany's actions but by the reactions of people who didnt even take into account what she was going through. Dany is so far beyond broken right now i couldnt imagine what i would do in her situation (if it was real life, you know what i mean lol)
She lost Viserion, Jorah, and half of the army that she spent so long building up to take the throne for a fight that she didnt even want to fight in the first place.
Im not saying what she did was right but i definitely understand why she wasnt able to fight her emotional urge to do what she did.
I so agree with your statement about people nowadays failing to understand how a catastrophe happens. It is never one person responsible. It's a chain of events leading up to it. That is why every act of unkindness towards a person is important because it will come back full circle and be paid back 10 times more. Daenerys was just a tool to unleash the horror that everyone created.
Oh, my poor Dany. She tried to do the right thing, she really did. She traveled north for Jon, followed Tyrion's advice as good as possible and look where it got her. The same people scheme behind her back/didn't return her love, while she did so much for them. Not forget to mention, the truly loyal ones - Jorah, Missandei and two of her dragons - have been killed in the process... it is only understandable she has finally reached her snapping point.
I literally got chills when she said 'I will answer injustice with justice' and the music started building up. Knowing what happened this season..
She never should have listened to Tyrion when he told her to send Dario away. That was the first mistake. He and Jorah were good for her.She killed Sam's father and brother when Jorah was away and look what has happened since then. Tyrion and Jon Snow have not been good for her.
She didn't love Dario though.

She should have gone "my love that is fantastic, the Targaryen will have the Iron Throne forever, we're back baby!". Seriously she should have been happy for him. And for her too that she found another lost Targ like her.
When i first watched the episode, my brother was angry at her and I immediately fed off of his anger towards her because i was so into watching the episode i didn't analyze anything. I've watched it more than once now and I can sympathize with her. I'm not mad at her by any means, sure there might of been a better way to go about things but I understand that rage she felt when the bells rang. She's mad in the sense that she's pissed and hurt and I cannot fault her for that. I will always love and support Dany because she's the best character in the show and I absolutely adore her. Emilia's acting is superb and this character will live with her forever.

She just murdered innocent men, women and children by burning them alive when the city had already surrendered and the soldiers threw down there weapons. It's on and on about not being her father and getting rid of tyrants but now she is a tyrant most of all she's completely mad. As Obi Wan said "you have become the very thing you swore to destroy." She's a and dog who needs to be put down that's all I feel about the character.
She is mad and sad and it's OK to massare children. you must be great parties.
In westeros everyone will overlook her part in the Long Night and remember her as the Mad Queen but across the sea they will remember the breaker of chains, Mhysa, mother of dragons, who ended slavery and helped millions of people. The Bay of Dragons is her legacy and it will live on far longer than anything the starks can accomplish.

Yes she killed a lot of people because she was in rage and because she could. I believe merging your mind with a dragon to command, that is what makes Targaerian go mad. I don't think she's mad but it's like a slow-acting drug. And she overdosed. We will see if she has any regrets at all.

For people saying every Targaryen has madness in them.
There were only a few ’mad’ Targaryens. Maegor l Targaryen was ruthless as a child, he had killed a horse for kicking him and then slashed the face of the stall boy who ran at the screams of the horse. When Maegor was fighting warrior sons he was struck so hard on his head he went into coma. He woke up more mad than ever before, he executed people left and right and abused his wives.
There were of course more ’ruthless’ kings but not truly mad as Aerys ll Targaryen. After losing his shit after constant paranoia he turned mad as no Targaryen before him. His sister-wife Rhaella Targaryen suffered constant misscarriages and losses of children soon after their births. He suspected that she was unfaithful, he later directed his suspicions to her closest maids and carers after the loss of their newborn child Jaehaerys. He started burning people alive, he executed his hand and after everytime he burnt someone alive, he would visit his wife Rhaella at night and rape her, he had a weird fetish of having his way with her everytime he burned someone. He wanted to be a Dragon.
Now there were so many good Targaryen Kings and queens. Rhaenys Targaryen, Aegons sister. She was kind to the smallfolk, listened to their problems and made sure they were treated well, she even punished a man for abusing her wife and eventually killing her even though he had the right to punish her to a certain degree.
Jaehaerys l Targaryen along with his sister-wife Alysanne Targaryen were one of my favorite Targaryen duos. The compassion and kindness they had, yet just and smart was unmatched in my opinion. They built up Kings Landing, it had developed into a very large city under their reign. Wells and fountains were built for the poor to have access to water, they took loans from the iron bank to develop the city even further. They donated money to the nights watch and gave them more land. A statue of Alysanne was built in her honor. And a fort was also renamed after her. The Targaryen duo had also made friends with stubborn northmen including Starks which werent really fond of the Targaryens. Laws were changed and more freedom was granted.
To get to the point, there are FAR FAR more kind and good Targaryens than your brutal/mad ones.
But what remains a mystery is how they got that magic Targaryen (not limited to Targaryen. Dragonlords) blood and how did they have such close bonds with dragons. There are numerous cases of Targaryen women bearing abominations of children, children with multiple limbs or even WINGS. Not to mention Aerea Targaryens return on the back of Balerion. It is said that Balerion took her to the old valyria. She returned almost dead, with wormlike creatures inside of her, they had faces and arms. Similiar creatures have been born by TARGARYENS. Although this remains unsolved, theres an obvious mystery in their genetics but I dont think madness is linked to it. Maybe there is a small percentage of children turning mad but it can certainly be avoided because the percentage of mad Targaryens remain under 3%. With that said, other families also had mad members. Its not a UNIQUE Targaryen trait.
TL;DR
A large majority of Targaryens were good willing people, only few were truly mad. Some were ruthless but not mad. They do have a special dragonblood, there are stories there being negative side effects but MADNESS is not a prominent one.

PanCake Thief that’s the point GoT is more than just about cliché character development from your typical stories. It argues the opposite, the characters in GoT are complex and consistent just like real life humans. They end up doing what they were always most likely to do right from the beginning and unless you’ve written something better than this show then I doubt I’ll be taking notes from you about what “good writing” is lol.
P.s in GoT foreshadowing IS plot development.

I've been saying the same thing. She isnt perfect,no one is. Everyone has expected her to be the goody goody do gooder since the beginning she went thru hell. She started out from nothing and with nothing...but with determination, sheer will and strength that she gained over time she became something great. But...even the strongest can become fragile inside from so much trauma and loss. I feel bad for her to be honest....she feels alone and is in pain.my heart goes out to Dany. Btw, I love this video you made and I am in total agreement with you about her. I can relate 100% and dont care what people say...or think of me when I say this cuz I get alot of flack when I bring this up. It's my opinion and ty for making this amazing video!!!

i am pained to see what has happened to such an intriguing, inspiring, amazing, and one of the greatest characters on this show. i truly love her and i wish that the pain hadn't guided her in this direction. she deserved better. she isn't mad. she's hurt. alone. She is one of the most complex characters written on the show, besides Cersei and unfortunately I do not think the writers showed her complexity enough with this season. Obviously, what she did is terrible and there is no justification for burning all those people alive. But, I am sure in her mind there was. We just saw her act on her emotions right then right there. Love her or hate her but let's try to avoid bringing in historical trauma, wars and genocide into this comments.

But, I love when people try and take a moral high ground in this show. It's a show about war and politics and about the inner workings of human beings and how complex they are, and what it turns people into. And, then they get angry when a character does something that is atrocious. That is the exact point the show is trying to make.
The really sad thing about people like John and his flippant comparisons is that it diminishes the true evil those real people have done. This is a TV show based on books. It's not even based in reality. It's a fantasy. There can never be a Dragon Queen who rides a fire breathing Dragon. Get a grip!! 🤦♂️😳

As the Joker said, ‘all it takes is one bad day..’ the thing is....Daenerys was having bad day one after the other; she was betrayed, lost her loyal friends next to her and just snapped on the path of madness. It only takes a moment to lose yourself and walk the path of madness. So it was almost poetic for her to become a dragon and burn everything in her path. (Not that I approve of, but it makes sense for her character)

The storyline of Daenarys is the most fascinating in the entire show. She kinda inspired lots of ppl to start watching GOT in the first place, myself inclusive. She has been through a lot, probably through more than anyone else on the show. She is the only one who should rule the 7 kingdoms. Hopefully she will get her throne in the end.

Saying goodbye to a character I've loved so dearly for so many years is hard. I KNOW ITS JUST A SHOW. She meant so much to me, and I know it was coming, I know she did bad things, but I will cry for her nonetheless. Rest in peace Daenerys. My queen, always.
I am completely on Danys side, that will never change. She went through hell. Forced from her home, forced to be married, raped, beaten, facing abuse from her brother for years, loosing her baby, loosing her husband, betrayed by the one she trusted most, loosing Ser Baristin, loosing Viserion, then loosing most of her army for Jon who is a complete idiot, then she lost Jorah. A man she loved like family who was there from the start. Then Rheagal fell. Two of her children gone. And then Missandea, her best friend whom she cared for as much as she did for her children. She has been through hell, who wouldn't be angry, then the man she loves turns on her. Jon's most likely going to kill her now. Dany deserves the throne, or everything she lost will be in vain.
