A review of the Pac 7 would be good, thinking of getting the upgrade for my Pac 12, love this antenna, quick and easy to use.
Unfortunately I don’t have the pac 7 version but I have began using the 12 more lately and it’s performing well

These antennas work fantastic i have done a lot of testing including adding an 80m coil, in vertical setup on 40m from AU TO USA on 10 watts i have done various videos on this and JPC-7
I’m interested in knowing more about the 80m coil. Did you build yourself?

That looks a nice summit and good run of QSO's logged. Well done on been the first to activate the Summit. I've never tried a vertical antenna for HF for SOTA.

Yes I forgot to add the weight caption to the video, but it was about 14kg..
A nice little antenna that I wouldn’t rely solely on for SOTA due to weather, but definitely a good option to have at hand.👌🏻
great activation and informative video, well done Dave...if you do purchase a pac 12 consider the optional 5m telescopic antenna lot stronger than the original, but i wont fit in the case. i also purchased the military antenna 6 piece with the shock cord through it that fits in the case just fine...only thing with this antenna is make sure the thread stud is 10mm...im enjoying every outing with this little antenna and would certainly recommend it....for what it is..all the best..DE EI7IAB ken.....(have subbed the channel enjoying your videos)

Good effort Dave. Your sentiments about the vertical antenna ties in with my practical experience on SOTA summits. I've come to the conclusion that in our part of the world most of our regular chasers are in & around Europe, so for the most part we are basically working NVIS. A vertical is better suited to DX due to the lower take off angle, hence not as effective as a horizontal antenna.
Having said that, I think the difference is minimal. Verticals take up less space, are often quicker to set up & sometimes lighter. To that end I often use verticals on SOTA summits for practical reasons & accept that it may be a slight compromise when compared to a horizontal antenna which will give better NVIS performance.

@@IrishHamRadio Сегодня получил xiegu g90. Не выдержал, начал испытывать в гараже. Там температура была - 11. Не ожидал : выдержал работу в течении 3х часов, есть автоматический тюнер (хорошо работает). Буду испытывать его, а потом возьму в поход. Пока положительные эмоции от этого трансивера.

Anything portable for me is always more fun that working for the shack… but that’s just me as I can combine 2 hobbies in one…
Also there’s WWFF which is great fun and you can even run mobile for that within an activations zone.

Getting out with your radio no matter where or what is great. It's all about enjoying yourself. If you do SOTA or POTA then spot yourself (I've only recently done that) it makes a difference. 73 Mike

I basically just cable tie or strap the base spike to the stainless steel roof rack on my van… but it could be mounted in a number of ways..

@@IrishFuryan GMRS is an American reference, not used here. I guess to answer your question, be aware that "Ham Radio" is just a nickname for what is officially called "Amateur Radio", which is what I operate. Amateurs, or "Hams" can operate on multiple different frequency bands, on multiple different frequencies within those bands, and in different modes.
"SOTA" (Summits on the Air) is an awards scheme for Operators to work portable from designated summits and earn Activator points towards the award. Amateurs who speak to them on the summit earn Chaser points towards the award.
