i loved this ~ your sincerity and your thoughtful answers, your adorable babies, your lucky paisley ~ everything you post is so helpful and inspiring and charming; worth every moment you put into its creation!
I rescue bunnies and I have to say you are the best rabbitry I have ever come across. Thank you for addressing the show and 4H situation. I am trying to get the word out but it falls on deaf ears. My rescue now I am keeping because of his bad breeding and growing out on a wire bottomed cage. He has dental issues and horrible feet: dislocated toes, etc. I am also trying to advocate against the meat rabbit industry. I have a RUclips channel: Laughing Lagomorphs if you are interested. I'm always looking for feed back.
Tbh in medieval times the rabbit meat industry supplied a lot of cheap food to people who desperately needed it. We all have to remember there are domestic rabbits, and rabbits that need to be used for their resources. If you can accept that distinction, and recognize the use for it, you'll realize how wonderful it is. Many researchers use rabbits and their meat for research and have discovered wonderful things that ended in the benefit of new information for raising domestic rabbits,
Soooo cute. I love watching your videos. Your manner with them is so gentle and loving. It's so nice to see how comfortable they are with being held. Your videos really are relaxing to watch, in part because you're so calm and loving towards them :) Your cat is a saint :)
Thanks for talking about showing bunnies at fairs & such. We went to a local fair a few months back and one of the little bunnies in a cage for show, was lethargic and not moving. It was so extremely hot and the worker of the fair kept trying to stand it up, but it wasn’t happening. He shewed me away so people wouldn’t realize the rabbit was in trouble... it was heartbreaking...thank you for talking about that. 💗
Yes, fairs are especially strenuous for bunnies because it's often a week that the rabbits have to stay in a usually hot, cramped, uncomfortable environment. Not to mention the potential pathogen exposure. I'm a competitive person, but I can't see putting my bunnies through that just for a few ribbons and notoriety.
Paisley is just like my two cats who love our two bunnies. It’s really cute when they all fall asleep together. Love your videos and bunnies. This q and a was fun.
Another tip for trimming dark bunny nails: put the clipper on the nail where you think it should be cut, gently squeeze the clippers on the nail two to three times (don't cut, simply put pressure). If the bunny pulls its foot back, you're on the quick. If it doesn't fight it at all, you should be okay. That technique works well with my bun. Never cut the quick on my black mini rex
This is a wonderful video. You and your babies are so sweet. I had a black new Holland lop named bert for 10 years and lost him in august. I want to give those cutie pies a big hug!
I always look forward to your videos! I didn’t find out in time about this video otherwise I’d ask a question, but you answered one I had :)I hope to one day have a cute little Holland lop❤️
Great video! Just got back from my first rabbit show. I came away with a lot of the same feelings. Plus I came home with another bunny. I was able to get cages there with solid bottoms. Thanks for all the info.
I remember when I was little, a friend of my parents gave us a pair of white rabbits. Then rabbits got more and more, so we had to send them away. Female rabbit can deliver 6-7 babies one time in every half year. You can image how many foods and poops every day. They like to jump but easy to fall. But very cute. I miss them so much.
How do u do cat Paisley? U hv stolen the show pretty much. I love to watch how u interact with the bunny babies. What u show are gentleness & tenderness.
Hi, I love your bunnies and your bunny barn!!! I have a small barn and a few lionhead bunnies I love them like my kinds, is my happiness to come home and spend sometime with them, but I really want to get a couple ones like yours, but we can't afford to buy them, I'll keep hoping!
@Hooks Holland’s have you ever considered placing a camera in your bunny barn & streaming it? I feel like an @Hooks Holland’s ASMR channel (bunny’s naturally make very relaxing sounds,) & you can’t beat the visuals.
I have thought about it, but our internet couldn't handle it, and I would have a slew of negative comments about the bunnies being in large, solid floor enclosures when not exercising outside or in the barn. :(
I have five buns and I love when people find out I have bunnys they ask me how many I tell them five and the reaction they have to that is so funny they didn't think I would say five lol I have four boys and one girl my girl is a Dutch two of my boys are Holland loops and my other two are Netherland dwarfs
Hello! I love your videos. I am getting a two month old Holland Lop in a week! What is the diet of a baby bunny? I understand that baby bunnies eat alfalfa hay and pellets but I am not sure how many pellets they should eat and when to transition them to Timothy hay based food. This would help lots if you responded! Thanks.
Hook's Hollands Would it be fine if I fed her Owbow alfalfa hay and Owbow alfalfa pellets for the first two weeks? I ordered those products, but I am planning to mix in timothy hay about two weeks after her diet is pure alfalfa.
I'm 13 and I'm getting a Holland Lop of my own this Sunday (5 days from now). I've had one bunny before but it was my sister's and I did not have to take care of her often. She was a different breed as well. Any tips for first time owners? It would be well appreciated 😁
I live in ohio and i am going tomorrow to possibly buy a holland lop baby! I will definitely be buying from a breeder than a pet store because Id like to know that they are friendly and have been handled daily..most of the bunnies at pet stores ive noticed haven't been handled much and they dont seem to care who buys them as long as they are selling the pet..since i am shopping around and im in ohio..do you have any available baby lops? Thanks
Hi, I just had a question about handling your bunny. I have a 13 week old bunny who all of a sudden when me or my husband go to put him down either in his cage or play pen he starts squirming and jumping out of our hands. I'm worried he is going to get hurt. If you could do a video on best ways to pick up and put down your bunny that would be awesome. Or if you could reply with some advice. Thanks so much! We love your channel and look forward to your next video!
The hormones could be coming into play at that age, and bunnies can become squirmy little jumping beans at that age. I definitely advise neutering him around 5-6 months of age. As far as picking him up, I suggest reaching around with one hand/arm and holding his bottom and bracing his body while the other hand grasps his armpit/abdomen in a c-shape grip. Bring him to your body and hold him tightly like a football with his head gently nestled in your armpit.
Hook's Hollands - Ohio Holland Lops just wanted to say thank you! We have picked him up and put him down how you explained and have had no problems sense! Thanks so much, Your amazing! Can't wait for your next video!
I posted a link somewhere in these comments already. They sell it on Amazon and Drs. Foster & Smith...but it only works for baby bunnies since it's only 9" high.
I wish I would I have found your channel before I got a bunny because I would have gotten me from you! I’m from ohio too!! But I love my lil bun that I got 🤗 he’s been doing really good with litter training, he’s super chill and sweet and he’s only 3 months old, do you think I NEED to get him neutered? (if so, where in ohio do you think I should get him neutered at?)
I responded to your previous question about neutering; please refer to that comment. I would contact veterinarians in your area and find one that sees rabbits frequently and has performed spay/neuter surgeries often.
There is black tort, blue tort, chocolate tort, and lilac tort (tort being short for "tortoise shell"). There is no "tort" color without black/blue/chocolate/lilac prefix since all rabbit colors are based upon those four colors. However, black tort is often just described by saying "tort" since it is extremely common and the most worked-with color in Hollands.
I love how you noticed the chinchilla feeling intimidated. Your affection lifted its spirit, it seems.
I love your bunnies. It warms my heart at how well you treat them
Thank you!
You raise the most beautiful, healthy ,happy rabbits I have ever seen.
Thanks!!!
I love your bunnies. It warms my heart at how well you treat them
That little frosty one had so much work to do grooming everyone

Erica Kauffman Could you explain what you mean by the show and 4-H situation. I'm a little slow today 😅.

Great video! Just got back from my first rabbit show. I came away with a lot of the same feelings. Plus I came home with another bunny. I was able to get cages there with solid bottoms. Thanks for all the info.

Thank you for being one of the few humane rabbitry owners in the world. Your work means a lot to people like me who are into veterinary science. :)
What you do is great. I have a Mini Lop and a Lionhead bunny at home. I also participate in 4h. When I'm older I am going to start a small rabbitry.
Oh my goodness! If we ever get the chance, all my family is very close to the Ohio border in Pennsylvania, so maybe one day we could come and get one

@Hooks Holland’s have you ever considered placing a camera in your bunny barn & streaming it? I feel like an @Hooks Holland’s ASMR channel (bunny’s naturally make very relaxing sounds,) & you can’t beat the visuals.

It's ok! Congrats on having such cute litters! :)
May I ask where you got that amazing little play "pen" and mat? :)
I think you can find it on Amazon, but it's only suitable for small babies due to its height.
I'm the one that ask you at the beginning!

Mollys broken grey one like to run😂 do you sell all of your baby bunnies?
Thanks.
I feed Sherwood baby pellets through about 12 weeks. It has alfalfa in it, so I feed regular timothy hay/orchard grass in addition.
Hook's Hollands Would it be fine if I fed her Owbow alfalfa hay and Owbow alfalfa pellets for the first two weeks? I ordered those products, but I am planning to mix in timothy hay about two weeks after her diet is pure alfalfa.
Looking to get a pet holland lop. Do you think does or bucks are more sociable and cuddly?
Lovely bunnies
where is that little cage there in from or what's it called? were getting our first 2 holland lops for Easter
It's a very short playpen that's only good for baby bunnies. You can buy taller ones from Amazon or Drs. Foster and Smith.
I'm 13 and I'm getting a Holland Lop of my own this Sunday (5 days from now). I've had one bunny before but it was my sister's and I did not have to take care of her often. She was a different breed as well. Any tips for first time owners? It would be well appreciated 😁

Hook's Hollands - Ohio Holland Lops thanks so much, and how do you suggest putting him down from that position?
Hold onto him just as you picked him up and place him down bottom first, otherwise he'll likely scramble and leap.
Hook's Hollands - Ohio Holland Lops just wanted to say thank you! We have picked him up and put him down how you explained and have had no problems sense! Thanks so much, Your amazing! Can't wait for your next video!
Hi can you post where you got the indoor baby bunny pen from? Please. Thanks
I posted a link somewhere in these comments already. They sell it on Amazon and Drs. Foster & Smith...but it only works for baby bunnies since it's only 9" high.
Hook's Hollands - Ohio Holland Lops ok I’ll check it. We want it to put our guinea pigs in while we clean their c&c cage. Thanks I love your videos.

Hook's Hollands Oh my so sorry I didn’t realize I posted it twice!! But thank you for your response!
The orange onessssss
I have a couple questions,
Is there such thing as a regular tort colored rabbit? And what do they look like
There is black tort, blue tort, chocolate tort, and lilac tort (tort being short for "tortoise shell"). There is no "tort" color without black/blue/chocolate/lilac prefix since all rabbit colors are based upon those four colors. However, black tort is often just described by saying "tort" since it is extremely common and the most worked-with color in Hollands.
I WISH I COULD BUY oNE OF YOU LOPS!!!But I live in Mississippi.
i have 2 polish blue eyes (its just a white bunny with blue eyes ;D)
Little angels.
