시공간 Spacetime
시간과 공간은 서로 독립적으로 존재하지않고 서로에게 영향을 준다고 한다 (Einstein's theory of General Relativity).
악기자체에 어쿠스틱한 소리뿐만아니라 다양한 리버브와 딜레이 이펙팅을 통해서 소리의 확장을 하려고 노력했다. 도입부에 가야금이 반복적으로 뜯는 음정들이 시간의 흐름을 표현한다면 그 음정들로 인해서 리버브이펙터가 작동을하면서 만들어내는 앰비언트 소리가 공간을 표현하고있다. 그 외에 등장하는 첼로와 가야금의 페턴과 소리들은 그 시공간에 존제하는 물체 (matter)이다. 물체의 중력에 따라서 시공간에 변화가 있는것 처럼 이 곡에 들리는 각 패턴들이 이펙터에게 영향을 주는것이 이 곡의 주제이다.
Space and time don't exist separately and are inevitably influenced by eachother.
We were looking to expand our sound beyond the acoustic capabilities of our instruments by using effect pedals. The repetitive notes of the Gayageum at the beginning of this piece can be seen as the flow of time, whereas the ambient sound being the result of those notes passing the reverb effect can be interpreted as the fabric of space.
The sounds and patterns made by our instruments coming after that can be seen as the matter floating in and through spacetime itself. Notes passing through the digital effect chain, which are influencing the texture of our sound could be sort of compared to the fabric of spacetime and it being changed and warped by the gravity of matter.
