I remember my uncle had a PlayStation one for a few years then he got the PS2! I was blown away by what the ps2 was and could do. I asked my parents for one soon after. They said if I do good in school they’d get me one. I did just that! I remember getting home from school and saw the greatest gaming console ever laying on my bed in the box. I immediately hooked it up to my TV. My dad was impressed at how fast I did it (as simple as it may seem now days). I played it all day into the night. I had 2 ps2s in my lifetime the original and the slim.i remember playing Madden 2003 and NBA Live 2003 as my first games on it as a 3rd grade student. This game has brought me so many good memories and nostalgic moments. I recently brought one from a local retro gaming store in my city and I couldn’t be happier. Now at 26 I’m playing it more and buying note games than I ever remember having. I didn’t even know so many games were released for this system. I’m buying every game I had as a kid and some games that I would have liked to have and just didn’t know about. Sony PlayStation was so amazing.

back in the day I played the getaway and got all the way to the end level on the boat without knowing you could heal by leaning on walls. The fury I felt from making myself grind through that game pushing my reflexes to the absolute max. haha good times.

I was born after the era of the PS2, but last month I picked up a PS2 fat and a couple accessories. I was shocked at how good it looked on my modern TV, especially with an HDMI cable adapter. Managed to pick up some games for under 10 USD a piece, but at some point like with most other 6th gen and older consoles, the supply of games is going to run dry with the amount of nostalgia for these consoles there is lately (nostalgia is quite an emotion!). I haven't had this much fun on consoles in a long time. Long live the PS2!

I love my ps2 slim. The ethernet port lets me run openGL and play my games via smb. Stream them right from my laptop. I have my original fat ps2 also that i modded with a clear shell that has a top loader. Dont need to use the disc tray with it, and made using magic swap super easy.

I just tore my PS2 down for a cleaning and I used a dry toothbrush to clean the fan. Compressed air or one of those air blowers off amazon, like I got, would finish the job I bet.
Actually bought a reverse compatible ps3 a few months back instead of a ps5 and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. Even tho it was about the same price…… not even that mad about it … lol I’m able to play all of the old games I used to play absolutely great system. Appreciate the videos good content keep em coming
My first console was the PlayStation. When the PS2 came out, I didn't get it until Smackdown Here Comes the Pain came out. I was so excited to play that game and boy did I. I still have that game in my collection and now that I'm a father, I can't wait for my son to be old enough to experience the PS2.

If you want you could soft mod your ps2, with a MC2IO memory card and and a freemcboot memory card, that way you can play "backups" of your ps2 games and you can still keep your PS2 original. There is a video by Nacho Productions on it.
PS2 made sure I was happy every single day from 2008-2013. It's the best piece of hardware I have. Millions of memories on my memory cards and the wear on the controllers show it all.
I had a PS2 from 2002 to 2008 And then I bought one again on and off for a good number of years and bought one recently It's one of my favourite consoles of all time up there with Mega drive
Out of the consoles I collect for (which is most), my PS2 collection "used to be" the largest (over 200). Now it's PS4. Thankfully, I bought *most* of my games back when they came out, so I paid the "then" normal price (or cheaper). I did pay a bit extra for some Saturn games, such as Panzer Dragoon Saga. Anyhow, I have several "favorite" PS2 games, but some faves off the top of my head are, *Summoner 1 & 2, Shadow Hearts 1 & 2, & Drakan: The Ancient's Gates.* + more.
I remember getting my PS2 for Christmas one year, they didn’t get me a memory card so I spent 4 days or so playing over and over the first level of simpsons hit & run as homer! Good times
The Sony PlayStation 2 has many amazing games but I experienced the big hits on the Sony PSP. But When It comes to the Sony PS2 I love Tekken 5, Silent Hill 3 and a other games. Cool video. ^_^

If you like Need 4 Speed Underground 2. You might like SRS Street Racing Syndicate. Ace Combat was difficult for me to play so I found a more arcade style flying game, called Heatseeker. Fun game.

Just bought a Japanese PS2 and like 120 games for it. Going through the Dragon Ball Budokai games again. And Kingdom Hearts for the very first time. 😆 Set up with a HDMI converter and using just the 8 bitdo dongles and using PS4 controllers.
The thing is, it's only worth collecting NTSC PS2 games since they're 60hz. Us PAL guys got screwed. PCSX2 personally is the only way to enjoy PS2 nowadays especially with higher resolution
I remember many PAL PS2 titles supported 60hz, I even bought a special SCART RGB cable to play them on my CRT back in the day (without it they were black and white)

At the controller part it didn't was weird for me because I do it too. If I have to play with my brothers controller I rather not play with the Playstation. So that's a normal thing for me too
I think the pandemic is the reason for the massive rise of price. Pretty much any collecting hobby has been ruined because of that. It also doesn’t help that game stores have bottom prices, meaning, no matter how obscure it is it’s no less than X price.
I don’t know if it’s just the rubber of the analog stick’s degrading over time but my ps3 and ps2 controllers also suffer from that stickiness you mentioned and I don’t understand how they would get that way.
Get an S video, component or RGB scart cable and a compatible CRT TV. You owe it to yourself. The cheap HDMI adapters aren't great. Especially on a 55 inch OLED.

I bought a 128mb memory card a few years back for $8 Aus and never had any problems.
I preserve and don't use my genuine Sony 8mb magicgate ones.

It’s way too expensive but..if you can get your hands on Ape Escape 2, it’s well worth it. One of my all time favorites.

You should get a RetroTink 5x for your older consoles to upscale them properly and convert them to HDMI

I think the pandemic is the reason for the massive rise of price. Pretty much any collecting hobby has been ruined because of that. It also doesn’t help that game stores have bottom prices, meaning, no matter how obscure it is it’s no less than X price.

I don’t know if it’s just the rubber of the analog stick’s degrading over time but my ps3 and ps2 controllers also suffer from that stickiness you mentioned and I don’t understand how they would get that way.

I just got a PS2 slim launch model unopened for 120 today.... I am on the fence if I should unbox it tonight and record it or to put it in my closet.
