- My Juvederm injectable lip treatment, was it worth it and before and after results
So, lots if you were interested to hear more about my injectable Juvederm lip treatment with Dr Sophie Shotter.
I posted this film on Instagram a few weeks ago, which is why it's in a different format here on RUclips. I made this film to document my feelings and emotions before during and after the treatment. I felt it was important to show that when I do decide on non-surgical tweakments it’s a very considered decision . Even with all my experience and knowledge working within the beauty industry I still have wobbles and doubts. I am however, pleased to say that I’m very happy with the end results.
My treatment was with Dr Sophie Shotter. My treatment was Juvederm Volite

I hope you find this film interesting and I’ll be back next week.

Your reaction was so authentic, this is exactly how I would second guess myself ..... admire you for having the guts to try it and you look amazing both before and after!
Caroline, your reactions are normal,I think the end result looks natural and very youthful, your so sweet to take us on your journey, you look amazing! ☕
When I saw the title of this video my heart sank, you are naturally beautiful, it's what I like about you, you're not plumped up and stretched to the max like a lot of RUclipsrs! However the outcome was good and to be honest I would consider this if I could afford it as my lips are dry and I have to wear Vaseline or balm otherwise I just feel uncomfortable. Thank you for the honest opinions you gave x
Confessing to squirming like a baby when the needles went in. Totally understand your reaction afterwards but I have to say Sophie did an excellent job, looks really natural tbh.
You look great! I had the same procedure done one and a half years ago. I was thrilled with the result, and still my upper lip is much smoother than it was before I had something done. Thanks for sharing your experience! ❤️
Ooohhhh, watching you have that procedure made my toes curl. My eyes watered with you. Saying that I wish I had the courage to try it too. The result is lovely though.
Your lips look lovely.Brave of you to film ,I had to look away at one point.Completely understand your panic afterwards.
Your honesty is refreshing. Your lips do look really good. Your kindness will always show through whether you do it again or not.
Thank you for sharing the whole journey including feelings and doubts, that's the aspect of having a treatment done which is not talked about often enough. You look beautiful before and beautiful after :)
Hi Caroline,
Ive only just started watching your channel and just wanted to let you know how much I love it.
I’m a 57 year old woman, who loves makeup but often struggles to know how to apply it in the best way.
So to have a professional makeup artist (not just anyone) talk through how to apply our makeup in a really easy to understand way I’ve found really empowering.
Ive been trying new ways with my eyes and lots of creamy blush, so I can look slightly more youthful.
So thank you 😍
You look wonderful, very fresh. Nothing has changed. Glad to know about this treatment!
Oh Caroline you were very brave I could hardly bear to look you being in pain ouch!! I am very happy you are pleased with the results! You look beauifulx!
thank u for sharing Caroline and to Sophie for explaining to us and being on camera. a lovely subtle lip result. i love it Caroline. love Alli x
Thank you for being so real about it all. It’s a very subtle tweak that I think looks very natural.
I get it done once a year and I love it! I had a very thin upper lip and very wrinkly lower lip and it added shape and fullness to the upper and smoothed out the lower. I freaking love it! Good for you!
Thank you for sharing your experience, Caroline! I appreciated you documenting the healing process as well as your real-time reactions/feelings. Bravo to you and your doc for achieving a lovely subtle (in the absolute best way) result 💕💕
Thank you for sharing. Post-procedure, your lips still look very natural and definitely more hydrated. You look lovely!
Thank you so much for your honesty Caroline - always appreciated xxx
A really welcome honest video Thank you!! Tbh I thought you were beautiful before but it’s your choice obvs. Thank you this video will help my decision making as my lips have def got thinner since I turned 50….
Beautiful, natural result!!
You look lovely! It’s 4 am and I can’t sleep because I am afraid to do this procedure tomorrow! Thank you for sharing your reaction!
Wow!! Very brave Caroline!!😆😅😂😜
You look beautiful with or without it.
I would like to know about your inviable aligners!! 🥰🥰
Clearly painful. Didn't like seeing you in that pain. I'd have exactly the same reaction as you and be like WHY DID I DO THIS? I think that's quite a lot of pain to put yourself through every six months. You look amazing regardless. Thank you for honesty.
Aah thanks Naomi 💁🏼♀️
Gorgeous as always and so natural. Appeared to be pretty painful for u as expected with the midline and lip area. Such an authentic, brave anf beautiful soul Caroline.
Good for you! Your lips look refreshed, youthful. She did a great job.
It looks very natural! I really like it! xxx
.Caroline, your lips look really good. It's just freshend your look, it really doesn't look overdone in the slightest xx
No reaction is ridiculous my friend. And thank you for taking us through this journey with you. I had similar reactions and feelings when I had lip work done.
Gosh you are so bloody brave to do it and share your experience. I often feel ridiculous about these issues and exposing myself ❤ it does look nice but painful 😮
I really did feel your pain, and I would feel the same, I’m sure now I would not want to go through the pain, but well done Caroline very brave indeed!❤️
WOW Caroline you are brave, I couldn’t watch when she was injecting your lips, I could feel your pain. 💐💐
Thank you for doing this video and being honest. Your lips look lovely but was interesting to see your different emotions. I think a lot of people would feel this way but wouldn't be honest and say it. 👄
god that looked horrible, I had to fast forward through the injection bit. You look lovely now though so I'm glad it worked for you. I would be too scared to do it myself
Thank you for being so brave and allowing us to see you during your experience.
I applaud your honesty in this video Caroline. 'I want to put back what I've lost, not change what I've got.' Thank you for sharing. ❤
Thank you for such an honest video. I think your reaction is one that we may all have but wouldn't be honest enough to admit. They really do look fabulous though. And you were so brave! I couldn't look at the actual needle bit though! 🙈😘 xx
You are being
honest and that’s the most important thing
Awww as you say it was painful, much as I would love to have something done to my lips, I’m far to scared of the pain. You look great, wish I had your courage! Thank you so much for sharing, and for your authenticity.
I think they look great Caroline, i hate the pumped up tyres look but i would consider this. Look so natural ❤️
Please please look at my comment I just left for last week’s post re requests. Thanks for this latest video and your honesty with procedures- your lips look great
Beautiful before, beautiful after. Emma x
I know the only opinion that should matter is your own, but in my opinion you look amazing with your new lips! I’m 46, and had mine plumped for the first time 9 months ago, and went through your exact same spectrum of emotions those first few days. Then I grew to love them, and as they fade, I cannot wait to get them plumped again. Best treatment I’ve ever done for myself!
I had to skip over the first part. I’m too cowardly and miserly to do this sort of thing. But I love your content so I skipped to the end and I appreciate your very honest reaction to having the procedure. Thanks for keeping it real.
Wow so honest! You’ve really battled with this one! You look lovely before and after and I really felt your pain! I’m not brave enough and will just have to let things droop …! The one thing I wish I was brave enough for is for someone to sort my hooded eyelids but I’m not going there unless one day I can’t actually see because they’ve dropped so much! Well done you and I will be interested to see what you do in a few months time! X
I hear you!!!
For what it’s it worth, I think your lips look great but I’d never know you’d had anything done. Sophie did a really good job at keeping them natural and just as they would have been a few years ago 😊 I’m too chicken to have anything done to my lips but I like the idea of them being less dry. Thanks for sharing X
Thanks Kate 😍
I really felt for you when the needle went in. I had my lip line tattooed a few years ago because I've never had one. It brought tears to the eyes! Won't do that again. Hated the result! But your lips look great and I'm sure you'll have it again in 18 months' time or so. Thank you so much for sharing. So interesting.
Thanks for sharing your honest feelings- You’re amazing BTW! I recently had a facelift after MANY years contemplating one. I spent the first week giving myself grief on why in the world had I done it. Even though it looks great. Noticeably better but not super pulled or tight. I had a deep plane which is a great one. But, I still feel a bit weird about doing it.
May I ask where you had the surgery and if you’d recommend? Been thinking about it for years too but so scared!
Your lips look wonderful and not “done”. I had botox in my neck and felt the same way you did. I felt frivolous and vain and like I was wasting money and then, I did it again lol. No one noticed anything but me. We get contradictory messages throughout life to be as beautiful as possible and that the pursuit of beauty is vain and superficial. The head trips we get are ridiculous. Thank you for sharing your authentic reaction 🌺
Well said. I totally agree
Oh crikey, I couldn’t bear that ! Shame as I love the results!
You were so brave! I really felt for you during the procedure. Have you repeated the treatment since? How long did the filler last in your case? ❤
Yes. You look amazing. I also would like to know more about teeth whitening?
Yes please ☺️👍🏼
Thank you for sharing all of your honest feelings. It’s so great to see authenticity. I have similar mixed feelings about all of this stuff….Your lips so look so natural now. Hope you’re happy. May I ask about the pain? It looked quite painful to be honest but maybe brief.
I was thinking how really beautiful, healthy and glowing your skin looked Caroline rather than focusing on your lips! Please share your secrets. Xx
Caroline; I genuinely appreciated seeing your raw and honest "just after the treatment" reaction when you were 2nd guessing yourself, full of worry, etc. I thought that I was the only one who did that! I too have wondered right after, if I was crazy. If I had just made a hugely consequential mistake. If my vanity had gotten the better of me. Maybe that's part of the process and how we know we're taking a 'tweakment decision' seriously enough. All of these interventions require careful research and reflection. I like Dr. Sophie's approach....subtle, natural and safe! Thank you for sharing this experience with us and for doing it with candor and authenticity. Your lips look natural and lovely.
Oh my gosh Caroline, my heart was in my chest watching you have that done. I think I too would have similar emotions. But it is lovely now.
Seriously though, I could listen to you talk about the trash /or bin. I pray your husband thinks your lips are fabulous! But I suspect he loves you & them either way. 😉
Omg Caroline I am the same. I have actually ordered and paid for botex and fillers at my clinic but just can't bring myself to do it 🥺 Started to read that fillers never totally disappear and even show up on MRI after 2-3years.😯 Struggle so much with my lip area and despareately want to do what I have paid for but too scared that won't like the results . Turning 60 this year and filled with conflicting emotions. Appreciate all your honesty as usual. And the lips are great! 😍
I was waiting to hear about your husband’s reaction! Did he notice? 🧐
You're already a beautiful woman! However, I remember going with my friend ( I was her moral support!) when she had hers done. I couldn't look and had her finger nail imprints in my hand for a couple of days 😬Thanks for your insight and honesty.
I really liked that you shared all your emotions and reactions. I think I would feel that way too. It looks lovely and natural but I’m curious- does it still feel like there’s a foreign object in your lips? That would freak me out.
Morning Caroline! It’s always good to see different reactions to surgery. Your lips always look lovely but dry lips are a nuisance so if they feel more hydrated then that’s a good result. Would love to see the makeup look you did here. Have a great weekend! xxx
PS Did your husband notice?😂
Oh yes that’s easy to recreate thank you! Oh good yes he did, he wasn’t pleased, but then moments later starting teasing me 😂
I think more then any feature on our face, creating a youthful mouth is a great investment. Your perfect straight teeth and lovely lips add gorgeous natural beauty to you. Well done Caroline!
I'm having my lips done this Friday at the age of 63 it's just to put back loss volume but mostly the vertical lip lines... like you just love my lipsticks ! X 💋
Oh Caroline, my toes were curling watching you have that done, I think your lips look fantastic! Wish there was smothering similar for jowls…I really don’t like mine one bit!
You look fabulous. Gorgeous skin and teeth. Thanks for this Great true insight and I understand your changing emotions. Good doctor. I despise awful pumped up hideous lips American women get but this was not bad at all. … natural looking 👍🏼
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I've certainly been curious about this kind of thing myself, especially ahead of a really significant social event, like a close family members' wedding. Same with my 11 lines between my brows. It's nice to have a realistic review and for you to have shared how you felt about it in the few days afterwards.
Should have also said the result is great, looks quite natural and not at all like a trout pout if that's what you're worrying about xx 😘
Oooh!!! How exciting ❤️❤️❤️
Caroline I can see that you have greater pleasure applying your lipstick now but you always present great confidence...don't second guess yourself! Your lovely inside and out! Stay well!
Hello Carolyn. You are lovely. You look great before and after your procedure. I can see a subtle difference and hope you are overall pleased. I really appreciate your open honesty. It’s not easy, at least in my experience, making these decisions. Thank you so much for sharing your journey.
Ooo my toes were curling while you were being injected Caroline 🙈 Thank you for sharing your honest thoughts and reactions. I have to say they looked lovely afterwards. What did hubby say ? 😏 x
Fabulous result and thank you for your honesty. That was a real reaction to getting something like that done.
Much appreciated. I think you will get them done again- it looks really natural 😊
Oh gosh….no decided yet but that’s because they look
Much better 😂
It looked painful? The effect is very natural looking
Very natural looking Caroline! I think it’s worth the discomfort 😘
You look great ! Had no idea this treatment was available for the lips - thank you so much for sharing. It’s sooo natural and subtle and refreshed. This the only treatment I would get for lips to add hydration. Your reactions were normal! I’d think the same too! Fantastic results - you look gorge 😍👍🏻🙏🏻😊💋
Bravo for your honesty! After watching this, any thoughts of wanting it done disappeared! I'm much too chicken! They do look good, and interested to see how they look after the 4 weeks. My d-i-l got filler in her lips and they look terrible - sadly. It has changed the way she talks too, as now her lips don't close they way they used to. The things we do!
Wow that was so interesting but boy it looked painful 😓 they look lovely and very natural. Did hubby notice? Xx
Looks GREAT...👍 she did a great job! I never thought,
at all, that they looked 'unnatural' - or swollen - in fact I probably would not have noticed, or known, if I hadn't watched the OUCHIE!🤯
Love the advice! Two queries: does make up setting spray work or is it just a wheeze to get us to buy more product?
Also thinking of summer weddings abroad any thoughts on colours/look?.
So interesting and pleased you are pleased. Doing these procedures are first and foremost for oneself. Enjoy the confidence and positivity. Hello from N2. Bon weekend : - )
Oooh Caroline you are so brave! I'm itching to get some kind of gentle lip filler but I'm terrified of needles! Like you I just want to soften my lip lines not enlarge the. Your reaction was so genuine and human. You were beautiful before & your beautiful now! X
You look gorgeous! I was a little worried for you at first but once you hit day 3 they look completely natural.
Hi that looked sore .i thought you had lovely lips before .your emotions are normal i think most us woman want fillers/botox but fight with themselves due to fear. Admire you for videoing your procedure xx
How much did you have injected? Looks amazing!
That looks painful! You’re so brave.
not sure I can really appreciate much of a difference but as with so many of these 'tweakments' its how the person feels and not what other people see. If it gives you more confidence its a win.
Did I miss it in the video ... how much does this cost ?
Hiya 🙋🏼♀️.thankyou for sharing how you felt I was exactly the same .I have gone on to do it again but still very natural.I think it depends on how the end result makes you feel .if you feel better in yourself having it done then go for it .I’ve had my lips done twice now over 3years .👍🏻love your videos .looking forward to seeing more 🥰🥰
Thank you for sharing this. I think you look great - the results have been very subtle - I take that as my benchmark for good work. I would love something that would have this effect… but am scared of needles and not good with pain 😬 x
Hi Caroline, You were very brave,it did look a bit painful. Your lips look lovely! but, not totally different to before you had them done.xx
Absolutely gorgeous. Very subtle, yet very effective. 👍🏻 Would love to have that done!
Hi Carolyn, I think your lips look really really nice they do look natural, you know yourself there are heaps of little tricks using contour, make-up etc to make ,ips look fu,ller or more youthful the way I see it well this is just another tool to use and while yes it does drum up al kinds of emotions including doubt and regret at first when we first get lip injections of any type ,but if we see a good injectionist for want of a better word someone who will listen and understand what results are wanted and are sensible and someone who is about enhancing what we have rather than changing it we will 9/10 times be happy with the results and honestly you look fantastic and your lips look very natural and proportional to the rest of your face, I mean your gorgeous anyway but honestly you do look great ,thanks for sharing this with us take care all the best mary in Australia 🌺😊
You're brave. If it could be done without needles, I'd try it, lol. You look great, before & after. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Thank you for sharing your experience and being so honest about your feelings Caroline, I think that will be really helpful for anyone considering this treatment.
Hi, did u have Volite or Volift? Because Volite is for the face to hydrate
Beautiful and natural, good for you!
Thank you for sharing this!! You look great! Sophie is very skilled. You look like you but refreshed. I think we have to be careful as we age that, if we change one part of our face, it still fits with all the rest of us that is aging as well. I felt the way you did before I went and I didn’t tell anyone for quite awhile after. I wasn’t totally happy with my results nor as fortunate in my choice of a provider. Not terrible, but slightly uneven and a bit lumpy. I would do it again with a different technician but overall. It was very subtle and didn’t make much if any difference. I suppose that was a better result than erring on the too much side!
You look great Caroline with or without the tweekment! My thoughts are that as long as you are having these treatments for yourself then that’s all that matters. X
You look amazing but very natural at the same time. We’ll done👍🏻
thank you for being so truthful..
Thank you for this videos; it’s been a while since I’m thinking of getting this lip treatment but I hate filled lips so it was great to see exactly how the process was with the lip hydration. Still not sure I want to get it… I’ll check you in a few videos to see how you are getting on and how you feel 😘
Thank you for sharing Caroline they look very natural
I must admit I would have been the same as you enjoyed the video as always 🌺🌸🌷🌹
I say the same things every single time I have Botox/coolsculp/laser treatment. “Why have I done this to myself” is followed by “At some point I will have to be ok with me as I am”. It’s a struggle even when you like the outcome.
Yes yes yes 🙈
I felt that pain Caroline! They look lovely though!
Thank u for sharing your experience with us!
