I realize you played with this quote already in "The Usurper, Slamming For Power" but it's such a favorite of mine I had to unknowingly repeat it in a lower quality
Ball Fables is a truly incredible game, it takes all the best parts of Paper Micheal and puts its own unique twist on it. The Everslamming King was an awesome final boss, from the jam to the visuals to the match itself to the story it's such a great climax.
Truely one of the finest ends to a masterful game. I adore the final moments, where he is pushed against the wall while the court is set ablaze. You just beat him at his peak performance, and have gotten so far since being one shot by his flaming dunks. In desperation he moves forward in his plan no matter the cost, and drinks the Secret Stuff, even if it has lost its power over time, and turns into something new and horrifying. He is no longer Hoopaxe, The Sacramento King is but a memory, he is now *The Everslamming King.* Making his transformation into the Ultimate Baller (and baseball player), feel like an insurmountable opponent... Yet the game must go on, no matter how many points you're down by. The fight is an onslaught of new and powerful techniques, where you need to make sure every member of your team is at peak performance, just to keep up with this one player. I especially love how he uses the Ancient Paraphernalia from the old players you've been collecting as tools in your destruction. With the MVP's jersey to block attacks, the Championship's ring to power himself up, and especially if he is able to get both of the Toon's sweatbands and preform the Omega-Dunk, and do massive damage to the whole team. Just when you think you have a point lead and control of the court, he just regains the ball and effortlessly matches your score and then some. It can feel disheartening, but you know that you have what it takes to bring down this foe once and for all! It is emotional, and you desperately want to win with all your heart, as he takes out players left and right. These friends who you've grown a connection too over the course of the season. The world of Ballaria which you've played on both far and wide, and meet all kinds of fans, teams, and players along the way, and genuinely made a positive impact on the game as a whole. You can't let them all down now! Then after you finally beat this fiend, the scoreboard is broken, and the shot-clock isn't a consideration after all. You put so much time and effort into this game, the world is on the edge of its seat waiting for the results. The Everslamming King won't back down, but in his hubris and his heart filled with anger he is defeated. Not by you, but by the Secret Stuff. He transforms (quite gruesomely if I may), into a basketball hoop where he stands, as his crown drops to the ground, the only thing the world will remember him by. Maybe kids will practice shots around him, and never know the fate of the foe you bested. Eternal life and power of the game granted, in a way. Shocking, and a chilling fate to leave our main antagonist in, and a wonderful end to the seemingly impossible final battle. Truly an amazing capstone to one of the strongest games in basketball history, get's my blood pumping every single time. I can only dream of a possible follow up, and the tales the next generation of Ballers will tell. Simply perfect.
A deleted scene in Space Jam briefly shows Bugs and Daffy questioning the miniature basketball hoop on Michael Jordan's kitchen table when they infiltrate his house, oblivious to the grand tale behind it.
@@SaintDicc The power may still have been felt by the toons, as his influence persists even after transformation. Just another mystery to add on top of the game, while tying the universes together definitively.
Vi-Pointer: Not that tough without your flaming dunks, huh? Sacramento King: I...I didn't come THIS far... To lose to amateurs like you! *The King throws explosive ball and runs towards the locker holding the Everlasting Stuff.* Sacramento King: Impossible... Leikers: It's...it's almost empty! Kabball: A-After all this...! Leikers: It wasn't that everlasting, huh. Sacramento King: I reject this outcome! I REFUSE TO ACCEPT IT! *The King jumps for bottle and drinks the last drops of the Stuff* Vi-Pointer: Gross! Michael Jordan drank that and it's been sitting there for years! Leikers: Stop being pathetic, you've lost! Kabball: Come here and atone for your fouls! Sacramento King: Hnng.....aaaAAAAAAAAAAH!! Vi-Pointer: N-No way! That actually worked!? Sacramento King: GRAAAAAAAAH!!! *The Sacramento King transforms into the Everslamming King* Everslamming King: Yes...YES! These plays will suit me just fine! I shall slam you to your DOOM! Leikers: Crud. Kabball: We've got to beat him here! He must not win any more games! Vi-Pointer: Well, duh! We can't forfeit the game now! Kabball: ...Together, everyone! Let's finish this!
I love how wonderfully paced and timed this mix is. Especially how the lyrics "c'mon everybody it's time to get hype" lines up perfectly with the climax of the song (right before where the melody transitions into the Everlasting Sapling leitmotif).
my strats are pretty stupid. most of my jam with this guy ended up being kabball spamming ballder slam and vi-pointer with the leaf bench and prayer doing nothing to get me my steady income of tp. leikers did most of the support, but in the end it was his charged up jam rain ended up being what saved me
Dude I was so lucky during this boss, I had just barely enough TP to tell leaf to do the three point special, and chompy managed to get the final dunk. What a hard match but it was so satisfying to beat him with that final dunk.
This basketball game got really intense once the Everslamming King summoned the ancient balltifacts to his team. If you let him keep both pieces of the Ancient Hoop on the field he can use them to score like 11 points against you, which is a ridiculous output to face in Ball Fables's turn based slam system.
This song is one of my favorites in the game and you slammed it really well! I especially like what you did with the game's leifmotif at the end, really good stuff man.
Bug Fables is a strange and unique game: it mixes traditional D&D-styled high fantasy elements / highly detailed worldbuilding with strong, consistent motif (often seen in Japanese media), on a linear, story-focused JRPG gameplay.
