I think burning up the truck was a great idea.I can't imagine how,if this was like most remakes which means just copying scene for scene,they would be able to do a chase that ends with them crashing their van,which falls apart on impact,into Cruella's car while making them fly through the air.
Jasper and Horace absolutely stole this movie for me. Their antics and misfortune was the best part of this movie. Which made me all the sadder they didn't show up for the sequel at all.

In the movie, a squirrel went into the engine compartment, chewed a wire which is definitely the heater’s wire and I think it was touching the engine which is what set it on fire after Horace turned on the heater.
The squirrels who are part of the Dalmatians’ rescue party sabotaged the truck and chewed on a wire in the engine bay. That wire must be from the heater which was chewed into two parts and one of them is dangling near the engine.
