w58 is made out of glass, Also there's more gearbox options bro like the BMW ones with the adapter plates, the cd009 from the 350/370z or you can get the old granny from the mk3/soarer the R154 which are cheaper options and the cd009 I've heard nothing but good things.
Also for the driver side wheel banging I'd say check sway bar links or brake caliper pins. my IS300 had a bent caliper pin that made clunk sounds on slow sharp turns was odd as I thought much worse. Anyway as always good luck and be safe mate!
Forgot to mention, look for the tripod version of the R154 if you want to go 5 speed cheap. Won't need any chassis changes simply needs a JZ bellhousing, r154 flywheel and you're pretty much golden. Known issues is that it drives like a truck lol

Brother you have to fix this noise when the suspension works up and down because it can blow up yours wheels. And that noise is the fender benders. The same thing when the car is so lower from the ground
