I appreciate it. This game has only gotten better and better as time has moved on, and my family and I still love to get in and play, and scream, and laugh, and have a blast. Winter is upon us, so it's also going to get the annual Winter theme soon, if it hasn't already!

I've not seen cube world, but this is the second comment about it. I'll have to see what it is / was.

I think from all open source games my favorite is Beyond All Reason (remake of Total Annihilation)

fun game. I'll attempt the game. When I follow your tutorials, I try to deploy the items you demonstrate, on my server the majority of the time. Just for practice.

My latest deployment after watching your tutorials was, UptimeKuma, out of necessity.. deployed on the server and using cloudflare proxy from your tutorial.

That's awesome! It is a super fun game by the way. Give yourself a little time to get into it, and don't be afraid to travel all over the place!

Agree about kids playing on unknown servers... To many unknowns.
Congrats on the new family. Great videos!

I wonder. Which Linux distro's are you running on your desktops/workstations (not your servers: I know it's Ubuntu)?

I'm sorry. I should have listened better. At 21:52 you mention being on Kubuntu 2204

Yep, for now, I'm using Kubuntu 22.04. I've used Zorin in the past, Ubuntu Mate, Fedora, and even Arch for a few months...til it bit me.

Copr is like the aur for fedora; third party repos for fedora

If they were open source maybe. I've been looking at Mine Test, but honestly, Veloren has just gotten better and better, and we have a blast playing it.

The problem today vs when we were kids, is that we could walk a mile to the local convenience store with our friends, pick up some penny candy, and hang out for the day. Today, you send your kid to the end of the block on their own and they get approached by an adult trying to "give" them something.

Sadly, true, and that's my biggest fear. I would love to feel confident in letting my kids roam the neighborhood, but even at 12 years old, I don't want to leave them home alone, much less let them wander off.

That stuff was happening when you were a kid too. You're older now. You pay more attention to news like that. You worry more about things in general than you did then. Plus, the media is a whole different monster now.
Let your kid wander around. They will be fine if they aren't stupid. If you raise them right, they won't be. Shelter them too much for too long and they stay a child no matter how old they look.
You might look back at your childhood and think "I can't believe we did that!" but you doing that stuff taught you lessons that you can't learn just by being told. Important lessons that sheltered kids are denied.

Thinking yesterday was better than today seems to be a chronic human failing. I do it too, 'cept I know the 90s sucked.
