I found these in my grandparents attic in the 1970s and from that point on ( I was in elementary school) I knew I wanted to be an Artist. I poured through these books and repeated the course again and again. It was a great start and so much fun.

I got my FAC last week and I'm very excited (bought on Ebay). I've always dreamed of knowing the secrets of the great American illustrators of the 50s and 60s and now I'm taking the course adapted to digital support (tablet). Obviously the school no longer exists and so, there is no any assessment and correction of work, but it still is an excellent starting point for learning illustration.

I always thought that picture of Albert Dorne looked like Abe Vigoda... which is kind of weird because Abe's brother Bill Vigoda actually WAS a cartoonist.

Opaque watercolor is gouache, for some reason they didn't know the name and called it that, probably the commercial name from the brands of that time in the US. In Europe it was also known as "tempera" and "poster color".

I think as a kid, they were called Poster Paints too.

Nice job, I just downloaded and printed out a bunch of chapters I’d rather own hard copy if I could find a good edition at a good price. The lessons are really good some of the best they really cover a lot of information.
