      I launched at Birch Creek, that’s where the pier is at. It’s hit or miss so just keep an eye on the water levels for the lake!

    That’s a Great Lake to fish because it never gets a rough as lake Conroe thanks to the bull heads and all the pleasure boats. Somerville has always had a good mess of crappie.

    • @fishingbythenumbers
      @fishingbythenumbers  Год назад +1

      Conroe can get pretty bad, but when that wind is high and those wake boats get out there, Somerville can be rough too. But Conroe definitely is worse lol!

      Really? That’s tough! Each time I go out there, I manage to find a few really nice schools of fish. I grew up fishing that lake from the banks, but so glad I finally got a vessel to find more fish! Keep searching, I’m sure you’ll find em! Thanks for watching, and good luck out there!

    That's a good un!! I feel ya when you said you don't use 2-4 lb fishing line because "I don't come to play with em." LOL. I guarantee you wouldn't have got him with 2-4lb line. I use at least 10-12 lb for the same reason even when getting bluegills. Tight lines brother! I enjoy your vids👍🏿

    • @fishingbythenumbers
      @fishingbythenumbers  Год назад +2

      Thanks! And yeah, light line is just not my preference. I like 20-30lb braid since I fish heavy structure at times and don’t like losing jigs. Plus I occasionally hook up with big fish like this!

    Love your channel and content Will . I have a quick question about the lake . How is it on stumps ? I’ve never run Somerville . Just worried about running in it and not knowing the lake and hitting stumps you can’t see . I have a Garmin echomap 126sv . It should telI where timber is on most lakes . However that always isn’t the case . I have a 20 foot boat rigged out just for crappie fishing and she has some thick legs . She is heavy . Thank you for your time . 🎣

    • @fishingbythenumbers
      @fishingbythenumbers  5 месяцев назад +2

      Thanks, I appreciate it! Lake Somerville doesn’t have a lot of standing timber or tall stumps so you should be clear to run it. I believe there is some over near Rocky Creek park, but don’t quote me on that. Hope you can get out there and get after em! It’s a nice lake when the wind isn’t crazy and the wakes aren’t too bad. Holler if you see me out there!

  • @kswan2234
    @kswan2234 Год назад +1

    Niiice! Quick question. What kind of structure did you see on the scanner that made you stop at that second spot(where you caught the first striper)!

    • @fishingbythenumbers
      @fishingbythenumbers  Год назад +2

      Thanks! I’ve seen hybrids around all different kinds of structure. Brush piles, stick up, and stumps. That one was holding near stumps.

    • @kswan2234
      @kswan2234 Год назад +1

      @fishingbythenumbers appreciate you. I stay refrain from going deeper because I really don't know what to look for. Unless I'm finding bluegill beds on sidescan my finder has been useless

    • @fishingbythenumbers
      @fishingbythenumbers  Год назад +2

      Before I got livescope, all I had was a Lowrance unit with side imaging and down imaging. That side imaging was how I found plenty of brush piles, and then used the down imaging and 2D to pinpoint it. Then I would use buoy markers to drop right ahead of the pile or structure. Worked like a charm!
