How do you not carry a gamebit screwdriver around with you when you're buying high priced NES games? I take one with me when I go to the game store to buy $50 games.

I am living in japan currently and I saw that gold Mario in a second hand store in better condition than that one for like $50 lol the price difference in America is wild!

The real mistake was probably to have purchased a big hitter knowing that the seller didn't know himself if it was real or not ahead of time (not to mention that some sellers would simply outright lie that it's real to start with). Not sure I would ever purchase big hitters like that 'on the spot' so to speak. It'd have to be done at a store and the seller would have to open it up and we'd both look at it to make sure.
I would of never bought it with that case. Cause that was major suspect.
Had the same thing happened to me the guy said they just got a Hagane in they haven't put for sale no price sticker 1000 for it I told him to open and he said he couldn't

I always wondered why the cartridge had to be so big if the board was so small…
my wife said to me why is my board so big and your cartridge so small.
Some of the boards are significantly larger...thats one of the smaller ones. A lot of Koei games are larger or the ones with the famicon adapter in them etc.
They wanted the cartridge to resemble a vhs. It was an "entertainment system" not a gaming system. This was a marketing thing done because of the video game crash caused by atari. This is why the NES in the US is so different from the Japan version. The crash never happened in Japan.
Famicom (Japanese NES) shells are much smaller. One reason is that Japanese companies were under the impression that in America "bigger is better". It's the reason why the Turbografx-16 is twice the size as it Japanese counterpart - the PC Engine. Even though they basically have the same internals.

I'm not much into the retro game scene but I've been collecting my game since I was 10 years old about 29 30 years ago. I still have all my sports cards miscellaneous carbs in comic books. More than I can count of each. They do have sentimental value and I haven't touched most of them for 30 years but your channel and channels like yours have motivated me to crack the boxes open and see what I got. I'm not much of a retro game collector so I'll definitely get rid of all those in the comic books most of the cards. Thanks for the nice videos and the much appreciated.

that "mother 3 Gameboy micro" was a 20th anniversary famicom one without correct faceplate 3:50 the mother 3 one doesn't have that on the back
Need to get that LTT stubby screwdriver so you will always have the bit you need and can take it on the plane

The label on Bonk is blurry on the bottom..if I can see it from a screen you should have been able to see it in person.

I have Bonks for NES loose and CiB. I finished the set a few years ago and have been buying CiB NES games for a while now

The Bonk games are great, but without checking the board, and actually testing the game on the spot I personally would not have dropped that kind of money on it. Glad it worked out in your favor in the end Rick!!!!

Goonies 2 5 screw cartridge but the b-roll footage was for the Goonies that came out on the Famicom, they're not the same game though they're similar. I can't complain though one of the main reasons I bought a Famicom was I wanted to play that Goonies.

I was at game jam south last one they had in Huntsville Alabama. And there was a guy that had a big bowl of mixed n64 games for
5 a piece and Mario party 2 & 3. They were so cheap I asked if they were repros and he said he didn’t know they were just untested. But they looked questionable, so I got them and couldn’t stop wondering and did the same thing he did and found a guy with a gamebit drive to see and sure enough both were legit just super clean like bonk was so I got them cheap as hell I was pumped
