I think the term hybrid is being misused a lot in this franchise. Technically every animal in the franchise is a hybrid, we've known this since Jurassic Park; all the dinosaurs have the DNA of frogs, reptiles, birds and/or other animals in their DNA making them hybrids. I also speculate that InGen probably mixed the DNA of velociraptor, utahraptor, and deinonychus to create the raptors in the movie and same goes with spinosaurus, it is probably a hybrid of spinosaurids.

    • @masterjaninosaurustheone2323

I have had a hard time coming up with a technical term that would perfectly describe the Indominus Rex, Indoraptor, etc., since they are all technically hybrids/chimeras. The only difference is that hybrids like the Indominus Rex were made to act as completely new animals, rather than approximate replicas of natural dinosaurs. Therefore, if it were not for Alien Covenant already existing, I would have suggested “Neomorph” as my first option to describe those dinosaurs.

    • @AnActualPotato1
      @AnActualPotato1 3 года назад +2

Actually, it’s revealed to us that the fact “all dinosaurs are hybrids” (frog/bird/etc dna) was actually completely forgotten and/or covered up. Wu actually corrected one of the main characters (I believe it was the red head lady or Owen) saying roughly “we’ve always had hybrid dinosaurs” when talking about the indominus.

I at first never really saw the Spinosaurus as a hybrid after seeing Jurassic Park 3 for the first time, but now that I understand more about the Jurassic films including the Netflix series Camp Cretacoeas I now also believe that the Spinosaurus in fact wasn't the first hybrid dinosaur created by INGEN. The Spinosaurus is still a very impressive looking dinosaur to me with its sheer force and ferocity, the Velociraptor will still always be my number one favorite dinosaur but the Spinosaurus will still continue to impress me as I keep watching Jurassic Park 3 over and over and over.

Great video but just a heads up, the recent paleontological findings for Spinosaurus Aegyptiacus is still heavily debated especially with it being synonymous with Sigilmassasaurus, Marracanus and Oxalaia as well as the sizing of the hindlegs or tail flexsion. We will have to wait longer for more fossil evidence.
The whole "first secret hybrid" fan theory never made sense in the first place as Dilophosaurus, Tyrannosaurus or Velociraptor didn't look exactly like their paleontological counterpart. I strongly suspect it was pushed by the Tyrannosaurus fans to try to justify why Tyrannosaurus lost. Especially after the whole "subadult" theory fell apart.

It wouldn't be a surprise if the Spinosaurus they had was a hybrid considering the fact that it was smart enough to know how to snap a T-Rex's neck and search for an entrance around the gate that separates it from its own prey. Probably had a very, very, very, small portion of human DNA spliced with it.

The DPG already stated the Spinosaurus was part of the "Amalgam Testing" hybridization project which occurred as preparation for the second park, also resulting in the Indominus Rex. Camp Cretaceous is not only a little lose with its canon and realism, but that one line from Wu about "Scorpius Rex being the first hybrid" probably failed to really take into consideration the DPG and was probably only trying to present the Scorpius as an earlier hybrid of the same line as Indominus and Indoraptor. They probably never considered to take the DPG canon material into account when they penned the script for the show and I don't think this should be taken so seriously as to disregard the DPG information, and at best it's yet another inconsistency among many as commonly featured in the franchise and in this show. The DPG additionally reveals that the Spinosaurus was created around 1999. The conclusion that "Spinosaurus is not a hybrid" is made on shaky ground and nothing conclusive that would lead you to that conclusion. Just go and do your research on the official Dinosaur Protection Group website for crying out loud! Don't be this sloppy!

Given the fossils they had at the time, they cross referenced them with that of a baryonyx, which was a close relative of Spinosaurus, only it was more like bear, given it was entirely built for land but are fish. Up until that point Spinosaurus wasn’t depicted as having a crocodilian upper jaw in most media. Technically, all of the dinosaurs are hybrids. I think there is a specific difference between "I made a frankenstein-osaurus as a completely new animal which I have invented!" and "I patched animal DNA in from different sources to fill holes in the genetic code in an effort to make a known animal complete."
In canon, I don't think they knew shit about Spinosaurus, because the only fossils they had access to were teeth. The thing's DNA code was probably almost non-existent and likely had to be patched over using the code from relatives like Suchomimus, or other theropods.
It seems to very specifically post-Jurassic Park in creation.
The Velociraptors are based on Deinonychus, which they are EXTREMELY similar to in size and skull shape. At the time, Deinonychus was classified as a Velociraptor species. They were upscaled a little in the movies, which came just in time to coincide with the finding of Utah Raptor, but the truth is they sit closest to Dakotaraptor. It may be that their size was increased, or some raptor fossils mistaken as "large velociraptors" were used because they literally didn't know better at the time.

The bite-strength of the Tyrannosaurus was drasically understrength; it was a preposterous fight; and by and large, no way would those two animals have duked it out, even had they been able to interact. The reason is that large carnivores are very nervous about sustaining injuries and will typically bolt if there's any odds of being injured in a fight- reason for that is that even slight injuries can be easily fatal, especially when there's no medical care.

In reality Spino only looks like that because of the fact that nobody knew what a Spino really looked like back then. Now we do. And a REAL Spino would look like a gimpy duck with lil arms rather than a Baryonix with sails and Godzilla arms.
Rex would win against it, and was originally going to in Jurassic World, but they cut it out. However if it shows up in Dominion, Rexy WILL kill him to even the score for that baby rex kill back in the day. And YES, they did the face of the franchise dirty. MC would be turning in his grave with that kaiju bs.

the trex in jp3 is confirmed fully grown and it's not the baby trex from the lost world, it's just a random full grown trex.

So that's why Spinosaurus wasn't in the Ingen's list in JP3.

For people who dislike the spinosaurus and want a rematch where the T-Rex wins, I wanted to mention something and I really hope someone could get this idea out there. Now, my favorite dinosaur is the spinosaurus, accurate and fiction. It did not bother me that it killed a random T-Rex in JP3.
I've heard the spino was meant to be in Fallen Kingdom, which I would have loved to see, but not in the scene it was meant to be in. What it would've been in would be a fight with Rexy, who is an extremely important character in the whole franchise, from being the T-Rex in the first movie to being a more ally-like and likeable dinosaur/character later in JW. She is a big role in the movie. But, I would argue so is the JP3 Spinosaurus. I wouldn't want either of them specific two to fight, because one would most likely have to die off. I don't want Rexy nor JP3 Spino to die off. I love them both. If they do have a battle in between the two, whichever dies should be a random Spino or Rex. Example, Rexy killing a random Spino (preferably that is distinctly different by colors or whatnot) or JP3 Spinosaurus killing a random T-Rex. Neither of these should die off. I love them both. Although I do think the Tyrannosaurus Rex is an extremely overrated dinosaur, Rexy is a major and favorable character. It wouldn't be right for her to die off, ESPECIALLY with her being the very first Rex in the franchise. Same goes for the Spinosaurus. Now, don't get me wrong, I love the T-Rex, but the Spinosaurus is my overall favorite, over every dinosaur.
This is how I think the situation with the two should be handled. If fans want a T-Rex to win over a Spinosaurus, please do not make it the JP3 Spino, and same goes for a win over a T-Rex. Rexy is too important to be killed off and I wouldn't think they would want to do that anyways.
But, that's what I think. Share the word if you agree and let me know what you guys think as well, do you agree?
