Greenspan started in 1987, so it must've been before Black Friday - didn't think of that before...
That's correct! It was Alan Greenspan's first year on the job when Black Monday hit. Wild times in the markets, trillions changed hands in a very short period of time. Although the Crash of 87 was epic, the bull market that followed more than made for the losses!
Paul Volcker was the FRC in 1987.

Good guess! Unfortunately, Bernanke took over later on and guided the Fed through the Global Financial Crisis of 2008-12. Aside from the COVID-19 era, the Crisis of 2008 was the most tense economic time in the US for the past 30+ years. 👍👍
