- Come along with us as we return to a local landowners property here in Franklin County, Tennessee where he has dug open a spring cave with a track hoe for us to explore! We visited this property back in May and had explored some known caves and even starting digging on a good blowing lead. One of the caves that we were not able to get into that day was a spring cave. It was pushing out a lot of water the day we were there and had since dried up. Given the opportunity, the landowner used a track hoe to dig it out for us so we could easily get into it to explore.
When we arrived on site, it didn't take us long to get in. Less than 30 minutes, a few (large) rocks later, and we were off to scooping some virgin cave booty. We normally do not scoop this much cave but given the weather forecast for the coming week (rain every day) and the location of the cave, we made the decision to see as much as the cave as we possibly could while we could. Unfortunately, there was rain in the forecast so we were not able to see everything but we will be back to push and explore it more and even start a survey! Jason estimates we saw about 2,000 feet of cave during our scoop-a-thon! More to come...

How exciting! Only had the privilege of scooping virgin once and it was an experience. You know what they say though, you find it, you map it, lol. Look forward to the survey trip. 😉
Oh yes! But we gotta wait til it dries up again and no rain!!
Super awesome!! Can’t wait to see what else is there. Congratulations 🎈🎊🎉
Thanks so much!! 😊
Can't wait for part 2.
Me too
That was amazing. All from air coming out the side of the hill. Eagerly awaiting the followup.
Right! Looking forward to finding more.
Love this so much! Now I need yall to just dig it all out so it's a leisurely walk in! Lol
Can't thank you enough for this exciting project! 😊
Kelly you're smiling like the cat that ate the canary. Nice find. Jason should have stopped after about the first 400 ft because after seeing all those water crawls nobody's going to want to go back with y'all to survey lol.
Right!!! But seriously we will do our best but definitely gotta wait til it's dry, dry, dry and no rain in the forecast
The water could be an issue .good point. 🙏🙏 Be safe
Very cool. Thanks for bringing us along with video Kelly 🙂
Thank you!! 😊
THIS is a find!!! new to the community, but this type of find gives me so much hope that I can still go push some virgin passage.
This cave is definitely really cool. some of it reminds me of the water crawling you have to do in sinking cove. i’ve only done the water crawls at sinking cove, but watching this i was almost teleported back into the cave!
i really hope you show more of this cave, i can’t help but to think you guys might’ve truly found something. you’re easily looking at hundreds of feet worth of passage and who knows, hopefully something vertical is hanging about.
keep us updated, this is going to be cool!
Oh most definitely will show more and what we find. For now, we need to wait til it dries up a bit more and absolutely no rain in the forecast! There is also still lots of cave being discovered, especially here in Tennessee. We have almost 12,000 known caves here.
Have you seen the ones in Indiana ? Very large and 1-200 ft pits to drop in.
Very cold cave escape super tight so dangerous😮😮🎉🎉❤❤
Amazing place and very cool to be the first people to see it.
Pretty awesome Gals and guy's
Thank you
Love it! I’m probably a foot taller than you so I wouldn’t be able to cruise through like you and Jason can. Look forward to videos of the mapping trip!
Being short has some advantages. There is one point you can tell I'm crawling pretty fast, crawl running 😆
I grew up exploring wild caves like this one with MVOR. I was probably 4 or 5 years old when I started. My younger brother was dubbed the youngest in the group at 2 weeks old. Our mom carried him in a papoose. Good times, and we were appreciative of the property owners who had surveyed and allowed others to enjoy these awesome places!
Sweet. I didn't start caving until I was 26. We will be visiting Missouri in a few weeks for the fall MVOR event in Perryville. Love caving there.
@tag_caver for such a wild and rowdy group, they have always shown a responsible respect for nature. Cavers are a different breed. Just as I was about to cross the middle age hump, I had a construction accident, and I am now paraplegic. Nowadays, channels like yours are my only realistic option of scratching that itch lol.
Woot-woot! Virgin cave, here we come! Thank you Corey!
Yes i also thank you so very much for sharing. I watch a lot of cave exsporing vodeos Very cool. ❤
Thank you
Can’t wait!!!! Great trip!👍
😊😊😊
Wow I’m so happy for y’all…. You deserve this one!! So cool that it’s being documented from the very start! I still remember the video where you were prospecting… the happy dog in the water was so cute!
Here is a name suggestion… Black Bar Cave…. Since you used a black bar to open it. ( this name only works with southern accent) 😂 the name would help to scare away cave deplorables 😂
Thank you! We ended up naming it after the creek that runs by/through it. We like to name things after land features first if possible.
@@tag_caver my suggestions were only half serious. 😂
You know I LOVE your videos, this one was so good, I couldn't wait to see the end, I had to constantly Fast Forward thru it, then, go back and watch it all! As always, your videos are so good its like being there with you. Wish I could be one day lol!
Sweet, thank you... it was exciting for sure. At one point it looks like I am crawling but running, my hands were moving so fast. Unfortunately, this cave is flood prone so we do have to be very careful about that too!
Wow yeah… that’s a awesome cave… it would have been better without all the water… but still cool.. no telling how far it goes… thanks for the video…
Hoping we will get back in there soon. Although it will never dry up though since it's a spring. :(
@@tag_caver I hope y’all do get back in there soon… pretty cool cave… except the water of coarse..
Aren't y'all just a little afraid of a cave in and getting lost? Nice video!
Not really... More scared of flooding in this one.
….while they struggled to open the entrance, the green ribbon danced in the rushing air…
Happy dog cave! 😂😂
❤ Heck Yeah That sounds like a Big Hole
At the beginning, the cave salamander, to me, looked simply like a dark crack in the rock. Check it. I know, sounds stupid worthless. I have OCD. Can't help it. Details haunt me.... 😂
Great video lot's of fun, Was it still blowing at the end. I didn't see anywhere to lose it but hunting wind can be tricky.
Oh yes! Air still in our faces, just starting to get more grim 😆
One back used and broken while all others watch must be a Union job lol
🤣🤣🤣
Scoop SCORE!!
Great video really enjoyed it. Was hoping you would find confederate gold.
Me too!! 😅
who names the caves?
do the owners name it?
what did it get named?
too bad they have to be registered, i’m against registering anything now days.
The people who find it get to name it. We name things after features. It gets turned in to the Tennessee Cave Survey where only cavers have access to the data. No harm in that. There are almost 12,000 known caves in Tennessee. Cavers keep a database.
Me too. Who says you have to register a cave on private property.
AIN'T NOOOOO WAY! I have anxiety just watching...
To. Many chief's an only one little Indian...😅😊just playing yall.lol😂
😂😂😂
Someone really exploring with a cell phone, interesting.
Isn't that what everyone does 🤷
Has it been named yet? Officially?
Yes!
If you survey ? Would that put the cave on gov. Radar. If it were mine , I would just keep it private
No, it does not put it on the government's radar. They're almost 12,000 known caves in the state of Tennessee. No way the government's going to try to take them all. And the state survey is run by cavers not government.
10:13 nice hole
Right... Thank you to the track hoe for sure for making this one easy!
Always worry about y'all finding your way back out.
We are pretty good at keeping mental note on turns and directions. We also survey caves and Jason has a good sense of direction too.
At 27 min. and 30 sec. When y'all decided to turn around there was large eyes in the distance ahead
We are going back this weekend to push it some more!!!
It was water hanging from the rock, just looked like eyes.
Ever been to Raus cave?
Never heard of it
Earth produces air. How else does air pour from all cave entrances.
Multiple entrances and large cave passages can create air flow in a cave.
Don't tell the goverment
There are nearly 12,000 known caves in Tennessee. The state cave survey is ran by cavers not the govt.
Pants!
???
I dont get it.. Where are you going? what's the point? getting to say " I literally climbed into my own gravy"
Bless your heart for not understanding why people want to do things they do.
Education
The wonder and amazing formations.crystles , cave bacon I get it all
Are you the mushroom ladt😊
I have a few mushroom videos posted
Ron Jeremy?
Not sure I understand your comment??
Nevermind...he's just being rude
@@gregdowd939 yea that is what I was thinking, a troll....
@@tag_caver It's a simple question.
Very interesting … but not for me
Don't ever take geology you never cave again
We know plenty about geology and the caves in our area. It is quite fascinating. Our limestone is a sedimentary rock and was formed when this was all an ocean. The caves were later carved out by water coming off the top of the sandstone and finding its way down into the limestone.
why share with everyone where all the caves are at?
I'm not sharing locations. I'm simply sharing the beauty of caves.
@@tag_caver registry would be revealing or not ?
@@user-gx3ml3om9g only to trusted cavers. The cave data is not widely shared with the public nor with the government. It is data that is shared with cavers only and there is criteria in place to control who obtains the data.
you should not have told anyone where the cave is especially the government
It's not the government. The cave surveys are run by cavers. Also, we have almost 12,000 known caves here in Tennessee and it's no secret we have got tons of caves here. The majority of them, over 95% are privately owned.
@@tag_caver lets not speak of hideiouts
@@very5ick112 this cave isn't much of a hideout, but more of a death trap... can't be anywhere inside during rain or you will die, lol
@@tag_caver hideout with lots of potential
I'd be checking the silt for gold
Only gold we got is the virgin cave!!! We do not have real gold in our ground around here so it would be a waste of time.
The water is probably as valuable as the gold, have it checked and bottle it
@@AjWard-nh5tp springs are very common around here. Lots of locals still get their water from caves :)
@@tag_caver You never know who was in the caves in the earlier days and what they might have left behind. So it's never a waste of time to be on the lookout. Could be a bunch of gold hidden in one of them or other things of value.
Cool explore!! Y'all should carry underwater metal detector, could be precious metals on the bedrock just waiting to be picked up.🪙🪙🪙 I don't know how the women can handle those tight squeezes, y'all built with those curves.
There aren't any special metals here as it is limestone. Women can squish 😂
@@tag_caver All women cavers i ever seen were better than all the men cavers i ever seen lol!
