In this Video we have discussed different types of powders used in Tanjore painting like Bombay chalk Powder, French Chalk powder,Muck Powder.All the powders are from limestone powder, only they differ in physical appearance.Bombay chalk Powder is quite harder and used by traditional artists, French chalk Powder for fine muck work and relief work. Muck powder is purified form of chalk Powder where embossing and elevations done during cone work or relief work is achieved at best when compared to other two powders.all the above three powders are best in Tanjore painting it differs according to artist. you can mix these powders with Fevicol or other white glue.but we highly recommend to add with Arabic gum as it a natural gum. Because Tanjore painting should last long for more than 10 decades.we are also selling Muck paste in 250gram bottle which is prepared from muck powder and Arabic gum.you can get the composition and mixing proportion of each paste in our know how Tanjore painting tutorial book.if you want to dilute muck paste please don't add pure water directly as cracks will appear ,you should add Arabic gum or Fevicol mixed water to dilute muck paste for surface paste.
