  • This is a video I made of a man in Channel Side in Tampa Florida making art with spray paint cans and fire to a canvas. This video shows in 20 minutes from start to finish how he does it. He is there every weekend and for a fee, he will make a painting for you.

    Wow I was really impressed with the amount of quality work that he's produced. Just look at all those portfolios lying there.
    Definitely a man who has a passion for this and who has done it for a long time, it's very admirable

    The fire is so the paint dries quicker. It releases the chemicals or something which makes it ok to touch. It also attracts viewers which brings more money.

    In my mind, this is more art than the bullshit all around the world on sale for millions of dollars.
    I'm not judging real masterpieces.

      That's because it's not popular/expensive due to being high-quality. Only the clueless teens in high-school think that. The Monalisa is a prime example of a work of "art" that's only worth something due to being famous. (And it's only famous for /being/ famous at this point).

      i agree too... but only a little bit.... those famous paintings are true art pieces for being famous... but like the idiot pinkie pie says "its only famous for being famous at this point" ..... true stupidity right there and they know nothing about art.... those paintings in the art galleries and museums are only famous due to the artist who painted them... they had a line of paintings they did that all have meaning and a story behind them... and those stories and ways the artist does or shows the meanings and how he paints is whhats famous because it attracted lots of eyes.... these paintings in this video are good yes... but they dont have a meaning or message/ story behind them other than some guy... on a street.... selling random pictures he made that look cool... they have no meaning behind why he did it or what he was trying to get across to people

    That kind of art is surreal! So freaking awesome, and like anybody else, I don't know shit about painting art, but also I agree: those street artists should get more money and recognition than those bullshit millionarie pieces.

      Wabbu Babbu I doubt the fumes would affect anyone in such minute amounts. He has to wear a mask, however, because he's exposed to it all day, probably multiple days a week. Compared to the kids who are exposed for a few minutes once a year.

    I couldn't even pretend to be an art critic or enthusiast but; to me it is only art to a person if they like it. No matter what it is; it is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. art comes in many forms; depending on the beholder; Like beauty; it is only beautiful to the one who believes it to be beautiful; be it art music; or otherwise.

      Not to sound rude but he's using for to add color and to dry the painting.. Not fully for attention. He knows what he's doing. If he didn't use the fire the coloring wouldn't look the same as it does.

    I have to add there is definitely something being missed here. Every art has meaning and a story. after all this guys is created it out of his own mind...ie thought, idea, and story. It all has an impression and creative idea. We also never know what an artist actually was thinking when making their creations(for all we know the greats just wanted to make a cool picture that became something more). No art should be de-valued to help an argument. As for art being priced extremely high. There are a large number of factors. Most of the time its due to these core ideas. Was the individual first of their style, the materials and conception of the art in contrast to what was available at the time (we have so much more available to us to do art now a days), how long survived and what it survived through, who did the art, scarcity of the art, and popularity grows overtime...but it gets to a point sometimes people feel they have to like it because so many others have deemed it great for so long. BUT...and a huge but...Art is subjective to the audience and we truly cannot say this guy is not as good as any previous artist as a "fact" but as preference we can. For all we know this man years in the future will be as popular as many other famous artist. I personally highly doubt it only because art is not as scarce as it once was and media allows us to see many more artists which I think has a way of desensitizing us to it in general. It becomes more of a momentary awe and "oh what talent and a pretty picture" then move on to the next.
    This man does genuinely make amazing creations! I for one feel lucky to have been able to watch his work!

    • @davejohnston9446
      @davejohnston9446 10 лет назад

      Old paintings in museums are worth millions because the artists had limited supplies for art. Now supplies are everywhere so street performers are overlooked, and instead minimalist finger painting by a five year old is worth millions instead of art that actually took skill. It is a sad world we live in where Modern Art is considered better than Di Vinci, Durer, or Dore.

      That's a lot to assume. Sadly art like this is looked over by most forms of media. I personally do caligraphy pen and ink realism and line work. My favorite artists are Gustave Dore and Albrecht Durer. All my work is inspired by them and looks like their' work. My work looks like it was drawn by them. I generally sell art for about 700 for a canvas and 250 for a simple pen and paper. I will never go down in history books though, neither will he and a lot of other great artists and street performers. Art only goes down in history if it is part of the current art movement. Currently we are stuck in a state of so called "Modern Art." In my opinion it is minimalist bullshit. I believe the entire situation currently is set by a Emperor's New Clothes feel. Where people see this shitty art and the artist says it means something symbolically and metaphorically. So the audience nods they're heads to it otherwise they look like a fool in the public eye. And it is a shame. Now I am not saying that all modern art is crap, but most that I have seen is. It is a time in art where many great artists like myself and others will never be recognized even after death.

      I didn't mean any offense I was just stating facts. He does have a lot of talent. I was just saying that millions of people have talent and they get looked over because it is not the wanted talent. This is for every talent in the world, and it is a shame.

      Dave Johnston We're not in a state of Modern art. We are in a state of conceptual art. Modern art was in the early 1900's to 1950's.
