This is a quick demo on installing a hard drive in the Hikvision 16-port NVR. This NVR is model number DS-7616 and I am installing a Western Digital Purple 4TB drive. It was cheaper for me to purchase the hard drive separately, and install it myself later. The purple drives are made for surveillance systems and can better manage the constant writing of files. I open up the NVR by removing the screws and install the HDD. I then close up the box and call it done. Наука
One of the best DIY videos I've seen! You get right to it, not a lot of dinking around, and you show the closups of the connections - thank you very much! Do you make house calls? :)
Thanks so much I couldnt have done this without your video!
Awesome video! Simple and effective, I just followed these exact instructions to install a HD at work. Thanks big time!
Anxiously waiting for your comparison and advice between Blue Irish VS NVR!!
For me too! I'm working on it. :)
Good job just as a note I only put 3 screws in so you don't get torsional twist when the hdd gets hot just something for you to thunk about.
Does the operating system come pre-installed?
My nvr does not turn on while plugged into electrical socket? Don’t know if the hard drive is working since no power going to nvr box
Thanks!! This video saved me so much time!!
I wonder will the NVR make any noise? (e.g fan noise or HDD noise), because I live in a small home and I can only put it in my Bedroom, but I don't want it to disturb me at night, any ideas? Thanks!
Great Video! It has to be preformatted? Or the software inside will do it? Thank you!
Nice Video.... THANK YOU
Looking forward for other videos
Hi, thanks for the video, I've got the same 7616 NVR, I've installed 2* 4tb purple HDDs but during and after initial setup I'm only seeing one of them, assume I've missed something?
Hi, would a HDD from out of a 3yr old swann view set up go in to the Hikvision, what im asking is are HDD universal and will go in from one set up to another ? Thanks in advance!
Hey mate, great videos! Yours are the only ones i can understand. Lol
can you help me please. Im buying a DS-7608NXI-I2/8P/S NVR and don't know what hard drive to get?
Would a Western Digital 6TB WD Purple Surveillance Internal Hard Drive HDD - SATA 6 Gb/s, 64 MB Cache, 3.5" - WD60PURZ be suitable for my NVR? Any help would be appreciated.
Great Video on hard drive install, I will be doing 300 of these. I was wondering if you have a GUI 4.0 video that shows how to playback, then show how to export a clip from the playback to a USB port. There are a lot of playback videos but not one that shows the specifics on how to move the left and right slider bars to the specific start and end times of the video clip you want to export.
Hi, which comparability HDD i should use for DS-7604NI-E1/4P 6MP in new generation or old generation HDD? Thanks
Could I use a USB external hard drive instead of the internal hard drive?
Very helpful, thank you!
Hi mate hikvision 7204 trying to install a ssd soon as plug hdd in device wont boot then once i unplug hdd it works why ? Any ideas surely hdd carnt be faulty its brand new
It could be the HDD; do you have a way of testing it in another device?
on replaceing or upgrading a hard drive, or adding another HD, do they need programming in to the system or are they just plug and play?
Once add, the drive should be formatted.
What's the main difference between this NVR and the Hikvision NVR software for PC (iVMS 4200)? Thanks!
I'm a novice and want to get the wiring right, I've plunged it all in as per your instructions but there is a dual power cable as shown in your install, have I seen this right and you have taped up one of the spare plug in's? A quick answer would be appreciated as I have it all in front of me.
I used a velcro wire tire to keep the wires grouped together. I did this to keep them from moving about and from ending up on top of the motherboard.
@@HomeTechDIY Thanks mate for the quick reply but I asked was there a spare unused power wire that was tied up, I've since may a few inquiries and it seems that spare power wire can be used to install a second hard drive, is that correct?
Great video, please can you tell what is that cable called, the one which is used to connect the power for the sata drive. 15 pin female to 4 pin ?
Did you ever get an answer to this?
We all need answers to this
I have this nvr Ds-7608in-12/8p do you guys know what kind of hard drive do I need for this nvr . im looking for 10 to 12 tb
may i use 10 tb ? they say on hikn site
I have never tried a drive that size. Hopefully someone else who has tried that can chime in here.
@@HomeTechDIY thanks :)
My hikvision NVR came with 4 silver sticker strips. Any idea for what they are?
My guess would be to cover the hard drive screw holes to keep bugs out since they are the largest holes on the case with internal access.
Did the power connector for the HDD
Come with the NVR?
Yes, I believe so.
If I unplug my existing HDD and replace do I need to have software pre installed on new HDD?
No you don't and when you format the HDD, everything will be erased from it anyways.
Thank you for this video. Please is it possible to merge two HDDs as one in hikvision NVR? If yes how
Interesting question. Have you already installed 2 drives in your NVR or are you wondering how to stripe them (RAID 0) once they are installed? I don't know if the OS will stripe them or keep them as 2 separate drives but not show the as 2 separate drives.
Great Vid..is it possible to use an SSD hard drive in that NVR?
Thanks! Yes, an SSD would work in here.
If I purchase this same NVR without a hard drive, is it difficult to initialize?
I think my video on setting up this NVR should answer your questions: ruclips.net/video/c-fNwK-rogI/видео.html
Hi quick question i have a nvr ds-7600 model number DS-7604NI/4P basically I have brought cameras that are H.265+ and was wondering if they will work on the nvr?
Camera model is DS-2CD2155FWD-I
4mm 5mp cameras
Yes, it should all work together. They all are ONVIF compatible.
Thanks! Does the NVR come with Rack mounts? Can you purchase them separately if not?
Mine didn't and the bastards who sold it on Amazon (AmSecu) didn't include the fing cables to install the drives. I was able to find rack mounts online on Amazon for the NVR.
Is the software to run the NVR on the NVR hardware itself, or does it need to be installed on the hard drive after the hard drive is installed into the NVR?
Great question. Yes, the software is pre-installed on the NVR's internal "drive". No need to install any recording software; drop in a hard drive and you're all set.
Thanks mate!
Thanks for a video !
What's the RPM on the hard drive you are using? 5400 or 7200? Just wonder because I can't find a 7200rpm purple drive. Does it matter?
I was wondering the same thing. Mine is 5400, but I wonder how it will perform if I'm recording 16 cameras at the same time. I cannot answer your question yet, but it's on my list of videos to produce.
@@HomeTechDIY So is 5400rpm enough or is 7200rpm better? I have four 5mp cameras...
Hi I have a hikvision 7600 series NVR. But surveillance hard drive status shows abnormal. After initialized it shows normal and few minutes it shows abnormal again. How to fix the problem
Sounds like a hard disk failure. Maybe try another hard drive or try the drive in question with your computer.
I need the power from hard dRive to board what do I. Order
Can a laptop hard drive be use also
Yes, as long as the HD has the power and SATA connections, otherwise an adapter will be required. You might also need an case adapter if you want to security it using the screw holes in the NVR's case.
Nice video
Thanks - saved me some time messing around.
Is this NVR rack mountable??
yes
@@floordoctor Does it come with the mounts or do you have to purchase them?
@@JoshKaufmanstuff - I've bought two different model versions (and years), one that had ears, & one that didn't...so it's a crapshoot I guess. I have a surplus of network mounting hardware from old switches etc...and found some that fit. Put them on after you install the HD obviously, but you'll see the hole layout when you do that. Can always drill out some old ears as well to fit rack mount screws.....just need metal/step bit.
Thanks Man!
Great, thanks!
Bro how can i connect 16 heads hard disk
Model hitachii ibm drive
I think those drive have the IDE connection. If so, this adapter MIGHT work: amzn.to/3fVuxKm

Great in theory but I have 2 Hikvision 8 ch NVR's both of which caused the signal to the TV monitor to lose signal when I plugged them in to the HDD. They both worked in the past so any ideas as to why that's happening? I've done factory resets on them but that's an absolute joke as they keep the same camera IPs when again in theory it should be a clean slate. This is why I hate Hikvision and NVR's in general as they are absolute crap if you want to change cameras or anything in them.
Thanks
You should have explained why Purple is better (CRM) and why you want a CRM drive for nvr/nat and also explain why not SSD (nvr can't utilize the speed plus cost. Regular hdd more storage for money) if you get a HDD that is 7200rpm CRM 6GB/s SATA you won't be able to tell much difference in performance over SSD in an NVR. Go regular but check for CRM!
Thanks
