@@SMaamri78 Couldn't agree with you more. Seeing him live is surreal. And yes, as amazing as he is and seems like he just keeps getting better and better, he is getting up there in age. Anybody watching this, GO WATCH HIM. ASAP.
Great reaction, you add to the experience without proverbially explaining how rainbows work... knowledge imparted without dispelling the wonder! Love your work, subbed
I appreciate that, thanks! It's a tough balance to get right explaining stuff because not everyone is gonna want the same thing, great to know that this one struck a decent balance for you, cheers!
Great explanation. Do your self a favor and find on RUclips his 2006 live performance in Colorado of this piece. He calls it a twelve bar blue in the key of E. Just make sure you're sitting down. 🙂
That guitar must be brand new, the first song ever played on it, because if Tommy plays more than five songs on it, it will look like it has ten years of hard use. Nobody beats up a guitar like him.
The sweep picking Tommy does at 2:30 is a variation on the Chet Atkins Superlick. Chet recorded that more than half a century ago, it's well known in fingerstyle circles. Richard Smith breaks it down here: ruclips.net/video/nFTfZVonnks/видео.htmlsi=i0PFlNzkXyHxzjB6
Tommy got his first guitar aged 4. I vaguely remember from his This Is Your Life, his brothers complained as when all little he was tapping out noises/ beats in bed lol, Tommy never had a formal lesson, from memory whole family played, their father took them touring as young kids in New South Wales. Must watch vid on RUclips again, so interesting and funny, a close family.
Sheesh, if only there was some sort of warning that this was an analysis video or something, you know, like putting it in the title, eh? :P Nah, totally get it, this isn't for everyone, hope you find the content that you're looking for bud!
Speaking of bluegrass/country music and banjos, dude! Haha, I'm loving this. That "Guitar Boogie" is named after Arthur "Guitar Boogie" Smith who composed the most famous banjo/guitar song in US history, called "Dueling Banjos". Not sure you're familiar with it, it's an instrumental, very very Americana, and rode the no. 1 spot in the pop charts for several weeks upon its release 50 years ago, and was easily one of my favorite songs of my childhood. I will pay for your reaction to it if you haven't heard it. Here's a link to the audio: ruclips.net/video/J6UG1Jlwiow/видео.html . There's also clips from the movie in which actors performed it. I think it was performed many times on stage by many different duos over the years, so should be videos of those. I can search.
I don't know that song, but it's on my list to check out- also cheer for that info, never knew where it came from! Despite hearing various player's do their own 'Boogie'. Cheers, will copy that link!
@@JbfMusicGuitar haha. Yeah I’ve seen Tommy and his brother Phil (RIP) play live a few times back in the day. Still probably one of the best guitarist I’ve ever seen live. Id love to see you do a breakdown of Somewhere Over The Rainbow that you mentioned. That’s one of my favourite ones of his. Great breakdown by the way. Really enjoying your work… ✌️
I knew Tommy when he started out playing pub gigs here in Melbourne Australia and apart from his guitar playing more importantly he's a very sympathetic man!! His late brother Phil was a better electric player than Tommy if you want to download both playing..PS Tommy's real name is "WILLIAM THOMAS EMMANUEL"..LOVE YOUR SHOW BROTHER KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK..BY THE WAY IS "RELATIVE TUNING" WHEN I GET MY COUSIN TO TUNE MY GUITAR"?🤣🤣🤣

It's an insult to the instrument for anyone to be holding a guitar while witnessing the GOAT. It's as fruitless as being surrounded by ten armed assassin's and picking up a stick off the ground.
I've seen him live and had no idea how good he was.
I’ve seen him live several times. No video does him justice. He’s phenomenal. Go see him while you can. He’s getting on up there in age.

The breakdown of the boogie bassline and turnaround chords was very accessible and well explained. Great video!
Awesome, really glad to hear that mate! Hope it helped get a foot in the door with this kinda playing
native and original talent in the veins
Just say it like it is...Tommy is the greatest guitar player!
His piece "Initiation" is special.
Cheers Peter, will check that out!

His guitars have so much wear on them, it's pretty impressive!
You did a great job explaining all that too. Thanks 👍
Glad it was helpful!

I'm laughing, but it's also just true!
byuh byuh mantap.. SAVAGE picking 😘👌❤️🇲🇨☕️

Nice one! Good find, totally boggle my mind that Chet was ripping that up so long ago... but then again he will always be Mr. Guitar!
14:23 Sounds great, Jack! Good work
Many thanks my dude! I did pick like the easiest part of it though!
He started as a drummer.
Urgh, bet he's just one of those guys that play play anything well!!

Like sitting in a movie with the guy in front of you talking NON STOP over the performance

I believe Tommy does everything by ear, does not read music, iirc. He is amazing.
At his level it doesn't really matter how you get there!
😊
Of you lobe Tommy, Check out Joscho Stephan a german gypsy guitar player, 😅
Sounds very cool, will make a not of him, cheers!

BTW - you think he’s good on stage, but you should see him warm up before a show. I worked for him for a few years and his warm-ups were freaky.
Oh wow, what a great gig that must have been! The guys seems like a really great dude, especially for how much of a beast he is at playing!
He plays so fast that it's hard to work out where his fingers are. Well done you. Tommy the master.
Most people tune their guitars to EADGBE. Tommy tunes gis guitar to WTFHOW...
Lmao, though he actually had a different tuning, you got me good there Neil!

Please reaction Pay ihsan, pray for bali 👍🙏
This is relatively "easy" by a lot of his standards since he uses a pick and barely involves the rest of his right hand.
Some part's aren't too tough, but consistently getting though the whole thing to this level is seriously difficult!

I'd rather a stick and have a pop, knowing I'd loose than just meekly give up
