Great video. I completely agree. Being in shape in my 50s, compared to my 30s, is a much different process. In my 30s I did a lot of long drawn out cardio, which worked, but in my 50s, it is incorporating a variety of task, hiit cardio, weight training, stretching, plus much better nutrition/diet. You can't dial it in anymore. You have to work at it. LOL! Strength training helped a lot! Strength training can be your body weight too. It works!
Great video. I’m 67 years old, am 5’3 and weighed 175 a little over three months ago. I’m now down to 150 and am working on losing 20 to 25 more pounds. When I started this journey, I was eating into my exercise calories, and the weight loss was very slow. Once I stopped doing that a few weeks into my diet, I started losing 1.5 to 2 pounds per week-which was my goal. I eat around 1200 to 1400 calories per day, track my calories using an app, and exercise five to six days/week by doing an hour on the elliptical and about 20 minutes of strength training. In combination, this regimen is working. It’s not magic; it’s hard work, but oh so rewarding. Thank you for reinforcing what I figured out. Subscribed!
Great advice, I agree that consistency is key. My experience in my weight loss/fitness journey is that it’s a little trial and error when trying to live a healthy lifestyle. There is no magic bullet to make all the excess fat go away-for good and get that lean toned body.
I love to do exercises someday. I love my body . I concern about my health condition and mental health condition too.. I'm 43 years old MIDDLE-AGED MAN. I do the old school way like walk around in senior apartment complex in at night. Someday I walk sometime a long distance and I walk short distance too. I keep myself going somewhere else walk . My height is 5'8" and weight now about 217. Last years I was weight around 170 to 195 lbs. My weight go up and down sometimes depending on what I do exercise.
Question: Why do you recommend stepping on the scale daily? I've been weighing and measuring weekly and fighting the urge to give up as I am seeing no progress after 3 weeks of consistent exercise. I'm buckling down on nutrition this week. Making sure I'm in a calorie deficit. My stepping out of my comfort zone is calorie counting. I hate calorie counting! Just wondering why the daily scale when others have recommended not to weigh so often.
Your advise really resonates with me as I’m now in my fifties. One mistake I have historically made is being all fired up and pushing myself too hard with diet and exercise then burning out and quitting. My new mantra is “consistency > intensity”. The gym should feel good - some days I have a lot of energy and I can give a lot but some days I’m dragging a bit - I’m learning to give myself grace and just walk the track and do relaxing stretches - but I’m still there. Also eating food I don’t like and avoiding ones I really enjoy - like good bread - counting calories is the way to go and find room for your piece of sourdough with a bit of butter. Thank you so much - your videos help me so much!!! ❤
Hi Susan, I have recently found out about you as a result of joining the Inner Circle this week. I have watched a few of your videos today and think they are excellent. You are a great role model especially for older women. A thought, have you considered doing a seated strength video aimed at people with mobility issues? I ask as I have an older friend who does go for walks using a travelator so cannot do a lot of conventional exercise. She wouldn’t know where to start to be able to do strength work. You make such good points about strength and I think a seated strength routine would help people like my friend.
Question💜🏋🏽🧨 I’m at 130lb 5’6” I don’t want to lose weight and I do NOT want to lose fat Because my face, neck, and chest are sooooo thin.. I want to gain muscle.. Can I do that without losing fat.. ?I’m 57.. sz2/4 on top, Sz6 on bottom Thanks for your expertise😍

I’m almost 40 and would kill to
have shoulders like yours 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Another good tip.... Dont worry about the scale if you're strength training. Taking measurements is a better indicator of your progress

Do you have any information on how the sets and reps should be performed? Or what splits are good?
You are amazing !
You are telling the truth.

I use a chest strap heart rate monitor. It shows my HR and Cal burn in real time. Is that accurate?
Is strength training and cardio in the same time (putting cardio last) a good idea???
