Bruh.. he was my pastor back in the early 80s when he was the pastor of Ebenezer M. Baptist Church. He preached like this every Sunday all day everywhere we went. Truly he was a man of God... The Rev. Dr. Joseph E. Hughes, Sr. I love my pastor still
I remember when Ebenezer would come to Pilgrim in Gary and Joe would leave the house flat!! Like you said EVERY WHERE HE WENT!! Great guy and funny as all get out!!
😊 there's none like J Hughes no not a one, but he's went home. Joe I'll see you over there in that great city that God has prepared for us. But you can't see it till I get there.
@eddie486us Hey this man was one of the best there was! Truly a beast indeed!. You right we have gotten too educated and sophisticated these days. We need more preachers like this around today!
I know we saints today have gotten to sophisticated for preaching like this but I respectfully beg your pardon when I say this, Pastor Joe Hughes was a beast!!!!!
Grew up going to the National Baptist Convention, I sure miss him

Joe Hughes was one of this country's best preachers. He could tell the story. I remember this revival this is my home church 2nd Ebenezer on the southeast side of Detroit. He ran our fall revival for year and Dr. Frank Ray did our spring. Pastor Vann is responsible for bring some of this country's best preachers to Detroit. Thank for posting this is a classic.
I will ms him too thats my Uncle on my moms side he was and still is a great uncle because each of my uncle inkluding My Uncle Tyler have a peice of him with n......LOve You Unc.
Brethren - I long for the days of old as well but remember what God's Word says with respect to "saying that the former days were better than these". I am a Pastor/Preacher and the discipleship needs of our community have changed and God, in this generation, is yet faithful to raise up preachers that speak to THIS generation. Even old Negro preachers who ran with preachers like this have evolved there approach to ministry (like Dr. Jasper Williams). There is, however, a middle ground. I call these preachers 'Hybrids'. They are 'Sophisticated Whoopers' like Tolan Morgan, Damian Epps, and, of course, the BEAST OF BEASTS..Bishop Noel Jones. Sorry Saints; 100% Negro Preaching just won't get it done anymore. Take this from a Pastor who leads a more traditional congregation...
looking for a burglar alarm sound that will really scare the hell outta theif and get the attention of the night guard and make em wanna turn it OFF. this might do....
