  • If not for the interference of this gem, Beach City would never exist. But who exactly was responsible for this feat of mercy toward William Dewey as portrayed in the episode "Historical Friction"?
    This theory video explores the possibilities and discusses evidence in favor of and against the most obvious suspect - the fusion between all four Crystal Gems: Rose, Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl.
    Music: Alexandrite's theme from the episode "Fusion Cuisine."
    Composed by Aivi Tran and Steven "Surasshu" Velema.

    When steven says 'the quadruple noogie' he could be referring to the fusion using four arms to hold the monster and four arms to give it a nuckle-sandwich.

      Yeah Have you ever tried to give someone a two handed noogie? You need an arm to restrain whoever you're giving a noogie to so quadruple as opposed to octuple makes it even more likely to be Roselite(The Temple Fusion). Though that begs the question what kind of monster could necessitate all of the Gems as one to kill?

    A quadruple noogie would require 8 arms. The Beach City fusion would have used four arms to hold it down, and four arms to perform the noogie.

      +macman3100
      Yeah a few people pointed this out to me.
      Technically, the minimum a quadruple noogie needs is five arms, since you don't necessarily need more than one arm to hold your subject in place. Thus you could theoretically perform a septuple noogie with eight arms.
      The noogie comment from Steven isn't particularly good evidence for anything, haha.

      +Uncivilized Elk most living creature have even number apenges( leg and arms) and lvl 1 fusion tends to have 2 or 4 arms depending on the size of the base jems use lvl 2 is 4 or 6 arm lvl 3 is 6 or 8 etc.... . the lvl of the fusion is in sync with the amount of jems used witch means its a lvl 3 or 4 fusion and if you count garnet as 2 jems rose and garnet can in theory form an eight arm "giant woman"

    I think it's a fusion between rose and garnet for a few reasons
    1. they are the two largest gems in the group (bigger gems = bigger fusions)
    2. The body structure of the gem is similar to that of Garnet's (Sugilite and Sardonyx both have body types similar to Garnet)
    3. The hair is a mixture between to two. It is like a longer version of Garnet's square-fro but it is rounded b/c of Rose's hair being round/curly)
    4. The possible "mask" could be a form of sunglasses since all other fusions involving Garnet have some type to glasses incorporated in them.

      +sharkudaku Do you think the fusion could also include Pearl? The nose is decidedly pointy and the figure is a lot skinnier than you would expect from a fusion of Rose and Garnet despite both of them having fairly full figures. I know you might be thinking that the number of arms becomes an issue, however, technically a fusion between Garnet, Pearl, and Rose could also be achieved through a fusion of Garnet and Rainbow Quartz, both of which have two arms. This could also make the size of the fusion more believable, as the fusion would consist of four gems just like Alexandrite. Malachite is just as large as Alexandrite and only consists of two gems so it's believable that a four gem fusion could be much larger than Alexandrite.

      Well Did you not see the intro where they give Steven a noogie? Yes that is a noogie. I don't see why people are trying to complicate this. Pearl wasn't in the fusion, though she could view it. It's definitely garnet and rise, and how do people think the temple fusion and unknown gem have the same hairstyle!?

      +Sou Pachi (Toby Spencer) who says pearl wasn't in the fusion? I honestly thought it was the fusion of Rose and Pearl. Figured that was why Pearl felt so close to Rose. I figured they were an exclusive fusion. And later after Rose was gone, Amethyst and Pearl began fusing. It's just that I believe out of any of the gems, Pearl would be by Rose's side a majority of the time.

  • @neeneko

    Actually, I think the "quadruple noogie" line supports the idea of the fusion having 8 arms. It takes two arms to perform a single noogie, one to noogie and one to hold. So if it was preforming 4 simulations noogies then it was probably using 4 more arms to hold its target.
    Something else to keep in mind is that we have had hints that other gems or even groups of gems were active in the not too distant past, for instance Greg's totem pole containing what looks like the heaven/earth bird, the temple fusion, and a 3rd unspecified one, which means 2 other groups with their temples may have been in play 200 years ago (or even in Greg's lifetime).

  • @jmlynr

    When I first saw the episode I kind of assumed that the Noogie Goddess was the temple fusion, but now actually I feel pretty confident that she's a fusion of Rose and Garnet. Partly because her hair looks like a cross between Garnet's and Rose's. But more tellingly, her figure closely resembles Garnet's, with a very narrow waist relative to her body, as seen on Sardonyx AND Sugilite but NOT on Alexandrite... and not on the temple statue! Finally, her giant hand as depicted in stage prop form is about the size of Steven, as is the case for Garnet's fusions seen thus far.
    Whereas the fusion of all the Crystal Gems has a hand the size of a frigging PLATFORM with adequate space for laundry equipment AND a warp pad, with each FINGER bigger than Steven... IF the temple statue is life-sized. Admittedly there's no truly compelling reason to believe that it is, but it would be really cool, so I'm going to assume that it's the case until I see reason to think otherwise.

    • @uncivilizedelk

      +Devil's Advocate
      I actually had the thought of just how much the silhouette's body shape resembles Garnet's figure after I already uploaded the video, haha. Maybe I'll throw in an annotation. The waist is indeed quite tiny, and while Opal for example too has a pronounced hourglass shape, fusions with Garnet so far have had that almost mini-corset type waist to them and the silhouette does too.
      So yeah it is very possible. If so, this would of course be either bucking the trend in regards to humanoid fusions, or Garnet and Rose do not have as much synergy as Pearl and Rose (both those things are plausible - I'm not arguing that it's evidence against, just stating a consequence).
      One correction though, Alexandrite does seem to still have that corset-type waist:

    I don't think that Amethyst is 6,000 or older. I think she is 5500 or younger. 5750 ago they hooked up with Garnet and they did not yet have Amethyst with them. Also, Amethyst is about 500 younger than she was supposed to be. I think when they picked up Garnet that Amethyst was still being incubated in the earth. Either that or she could have been messing around alone in the kindergarten like we know she did for a while. Once again we will not be hip to the info until the creators think the time is right. After giving us a very informative and satisfying episode in "the answer" they have some time to chill on releasing important info before we again get antsy and eager to know what else there is to learn about the rebellion, the cluster, and homeworld.

      +ASHELEY CARODINE Actually She's Five Hundred Years OLDER Than She's supposed to be. Peridot said in the episode "Too Far" that Amethyst "Simply Stayed in the Ground too long", and that "The place was probably Empty when she Emerged". Also in the Episode "The Return" Jasper who is also a Quartz Refers to amethyst as a "Puny [Overcooked] Runt". and we also have no Idea how long Amethyst was actually living in the kindergarden. As we see in the episodes "Story For Steven" and we "Need to Talk" She appears to act quite Feral. and also the Fact in the episode "On the Run" When She takes Steven to the Prime Kindergarden, She seems to have Quite a Fondness For The different rocks that are there. And Becomes Increasingly Agitated With pearl, not just because of she believes that Pearl thinks of her as a Mistake, but also because to Amethyst that place is a part of who she is due to the fact she was probably there for quite a long time.

    • @asheleycarodine258
      @asheleycarodine258 8 лет назад

      +Ryan she's actually 500 years younger than any of the other gems from the kindergarten, because, if i came out of my mothers womb after you did, I'd be younger than you. If you were born at 9 months and I was born at 10, because I was "cooking" for a month longer than you, I'd be younger. I'd have been born last, just as amethyst emerged last. Also, yeah I'm aware of the timing of the vid. I just wanted to share my opinion after the fact.

    • @momotech7648
      @momotech7648 8 лет назад

      +ASHELEY CARODINE Ryan is right, it is stated in "Too Far" that she was cooking too long. We don't know whether gems consider this as part of their total age, but we can assume it does since the hole Amethyst left is shaped just like her, so we can assume it does, since otherwise the hole would have been cone-shaped, with her simple gem at the bottom and growing and developing like a fetus, but since the hole stayed the same shape the wHOLE time, (See what I did there? I'm so sorry. Not really.) we can assume that she wasn't developing and changing like a human fetus, but more simply being heated until she had enough energy to remove herself from the hole and begin life on Earth. But that's not a full-blown theory, just a thought with only a little evidence. So, all criticisms and contradictions are fully welcome. I guess it really comes down to how you think about it: In her true physical age, yes, she is older, but in the way we humans conceive age, she is younger. It really depends on how they think about it. Then again, she acts like a kid, and everything in this show represents something, so I wouldn't be surprised if Gems conceive that the same way we do.

    • @asheleycarodine258
      @asheleycarodine258 8 лет назад

      King Vegeta lol sorry. I didn't see what ya did there. xp "zip!" Right over my head unfortunately. It might be coffee time. Oh wait, I just reread it. I see there heheh. I get that the holes in the kindergarten are shaped to their human forms most-likely the entire time (maybe) or most of the time, at least, and I didn't necessarily mean that their incubation process is the same as ours. What I mean is that if she gained consciousness after her fellow kindergarteners, wouldn't she be considered younger in that sense? I was just using a human's birth as an example (like, if Amethyst emerged from her hole after the others had in the same way that a 5 year-old emerges from "their hole" after a 6 year-old had, they would be younger as they've had less time existing as a conscious being). I agree that we do not know if gems include incubation in their age, however, if they did, then Amethyst would be the same age as her brethren that emerged hundreds of years before she did, regardless of when she emerged, as they would have been implanted in the earth around the same time (who the heck knows how long it takes to plant that many total gems or how many one drill can implant per day or whatever). Also about Amethyst's child-like behavior, isn't it funny that she is thousands of years old before meeting Greg, yet she acts like a six year-old human child, however, only after a few decades of interacting with human's, she now seems to act as though she were in her teens? That's some funny behavioral growth right there lol.

    With the release of the Episode "Buddy's Book" it seems most likely that it was Alexandrite that saved Captain Dewey as Buddy, a member of his crew at the time, knew who Pearl, Garnet, and Amethyst were when he came across them on his adventure, but he didn't know who Rose was. The silhouette was likely not meant to be accurate, merely a representation of a fusion, though I also suppose it could be a continuity error, I'm going to tend to side with a simplified representation.

    "Quadruple Noogie" :: Requires at least one spare arm for the headlock, possibly two or more depending on the monster. It doesn't resolve the number difference, but it does limit the number differential from a 4 arm difference to a 2 arm difference.

    You can see at the head of the fusion between the 4 of them is Pearl's gem, at her chest is Amethyst's gem and at one of her arms we can see one of Garnet's gems. Maybe behind the house is located Rose's gem. But on the other hand, you see at Alexandrite, Suigilite's mouth wich is different from the other fusions and here we cannot see it so we don't know for sure who is that shadow fusion from the show..

  • @JadeXHarley
    @JadeXHarley 8 лет назад +1

    Fusions with Garnet tend to keep the shape of the chest and hips. It's likely that it is in fact a fusion of garnet and someone else, because their silhouettes are so similar. since she doesn't look like sardonyx or sugilite, it's probably a rose/garnet fusion.

  • @mintmittens
    @mintmittens 7 лет назад +1

    i think since, we know what rainbow quartz looks like it's possible it's pearl, garnet, and rose. being a fusion with four gems it'd allow for the double face/mouth look (as seen with alexandrite, having two mouths), and garnet and rainbow quarts both only possessing two arms respectively. it'd give a little more intrigue, but i'm not sure why they would fuse without amethyst at that point, if garnet and rose would big enough as it is.

    A little off topic, but you mentioned amethyst's age. We know that gems were incubated in the kindergarten 6,000 years ago, because of pearl's comment in on the run. So wouldn't kindergarten have been shut down 5,000 years ago, during the war? Plus, amethyst wasn't there for the strawberry field battle. So amethyst is probably younger than 5,000 years.
    On topic: it could be a fusion with a gem that we haven't met yet. Perhaps one that since became corrupted, or shattered by a corrupted gem.

    • @uncivilizedelk
      @uncivilizedelk  9 лет назад +3

      +Nudedragon
      You're correct that there's a possibility of Amethyst's age being younger than 6,000 years. The implication I got from Pearl's line (in Marble Madness BTW), however, is that 6,000 ago was the time when that site was last damaged by the creation of gems, so no more gems were being incubated beyond then (though perhaps Amethyst ended up being dormant for much longer and emerged at a later time, or something along those lines). Either way, I think it's safe to say Amethyst is at least a few thousand years old, and thus gap between events still gives the Crystal Gems plenty of time to bond and develop together.
      As for it being a fusion with a former CG that no longer is, that would be interesting (and considering how much information the CGs keep from Steven, it's definitely not out of the question). I think it would be a pretty big gamechanger for the show if such a backstory does ever get explored, but there would be some gaps in need of filling, seeing as how the Crystal Temple is clearly designed around (and modeled after) the four primary crystal gems we already are familiar with.

    I believe that a "noogie" is an attack that requires the use of 2 arms/hands.
    1 arm goes around the victim's neck and/or body for the sake of restraining them in place,
    while the 2nd hand does the actual noogie on top of the head.
    With this in mind...."quadruple noogie" seems to be an accurate description for an 8-armed entity.

    I imagine that the temple statue was them fusing -possibly for the fist time- during the war, where they garnered an important victory. As time went on, they must've fused multiple times, thus becoming more in sync with each other and resulting in a more humanoid form. It's possible that by the time William Dewey and his crew arrived, they had made their fusion as perfect as they could make it. Spreading into the other fusions, this time "experimenting" with fusions may have changed the look of the ones we've already seen, making them more humanoid, but may have since... regressed, I guess... after Rose's death/retreat into her gem.

  • @jeremycu8846
    @jeremycu8846 7 лет назад +1

    that term, quadruple nuggie, suggests it had more than four arms. At least one arm must grab the head, while four perform the nuggie. A 5 arm gem is weird, it had at least six, two were grabbing the corrupt gem's head, in the event that it had 8 arms, the rest could grab other parts of the monster, as its body is like that of a snake, and maybe it cannot be so easily restrained by holding a single part.

  • @J1P2K

    When one does a noggy, they use one fist to grind on the head, so the line "Quadruple noggy" could mean that four fists are being grind on the head. This could mean that giant woman DOES in fact have 8 arms.

    i think that the reason some fusion have only one pair of arms is because of LOVE (lol)
    just think about it ....the only fusions with only one pair of arms are:
    stevonnie , rainbow quartz and garnet
    what do they all have in common? THE FUSERS LOVE EACH OTHER!!!!
    steven loves connie and she loves him too = Stevonnie
    ruby loves sapphire and sapphire like ruby too = Garnet
    Pearl loves rose and rose (probably) loves her back = Rainbow quartz
    and if the fusers do not love each other they hair mor then one pair
    (BASICALLY EVERY OTHER FUSION)
    so thats my theory...hope u liked it

    Okay, the part about the "quadruple noogie" made sense, until you remember that the fusion would generally need an extra arm to HOLD the creature. and it is clear that the creature had tentacles, so you couldn't simply grab and noogie the creature, you'd need extra arms to fight off the tentacles. But, quadruple could simply refer to the amount of arms being used in total, not just the amount being used for the noogie. However, there would be no reason to call it a "quadruple noogie" if that was the case.

  • @DetectiveYuki

    the hair of the gem silhouette also looks like sapphires. and not only does rainbow quartz have 2 arms as a fusion so does garnet. also i dont think it could be any gem fusion we dont know about considering pearl states she was there for the event meaning it could only be a crystal gem fusion. Considering how Garnet has 2 arms while still being a fusion and even Stevonnie if you count that, I think if the participants of the fusion are perfectly in sync, the fusion ends up more human-like or natural i guess in appearance. That would explain why all the crystal gem fusions have more arms and explains why Garnet, Stevonnie or Rainbow Quartz do not (if you think rose and pearl were in perfect sync with each other) so out of the crystal gems that could have made such a huge gem that ended up with only 4 arms it would have to be a fusion involving Garnet in my opinion. So I think that it might very well be Rose and Garnet's fusion whatever it may be.

  • @ThiccAzazel

    It was probably rose, garnet, and either Pearl or amethyst. Or maybe even just garnet and Rose which would explain only 4 arms. Also, the size might not line up perfectly but Rose is huge and garnet is a fusion so it would be a fairly big fusion I'd thing.

    What a great video! I'm more partial to the idea that it's RQ and Garnet, myself. The only problem being the height! Alexandrite, a 4 gem fusion didn't get past 30 feet by your estimation. So why would a 3 gem fusion be over 20 feet taller?
    I suppose it could be because Rose is such a powerful individual, but again, if we look at Rainbow Quartz, she doesn't look much bigger than Opal, the 2 gem fusion between Pearl and Amethyst. Whereas two LARGELY POWERFUL gems fused to make Malachite, who almost rivals Sugilite in size. So the idea that Rose makes insanely big fusions simply because she's THUPER POWERFUL is likely a bust as well.
    I guess she could also be a fusion of RQ and Amethyst... Quartzes are pretty powerful, even "overcooked runts" such as Amethyst. But the shadow Jamie cast of the giant woman makes this unlikely. Rose and Amethyst are the tso most... rotund of the Gems. It is highly unlikely that their fusion would have such a tiny waist.

  • @ethanfischer3843
    @ethanfischer3843 8 лет назад

    I would agree with this theory, if it wasn't for the fact that not all the Gem fusions gain more arms with every fusion, look at Garnet, she only has gained one more eye than a normal gem, but that's because of Sapphire. Than look at Rainbow Quartz, she gained an extra set of eyes but no more arms or legs, because Pearls Spear and Rose's Shield don't require extra arms, so it could be that this super fusion we see is actually all four gems fused but only needed four arms, or that Jamie didn't have the fingers necessary to make the being in the story

    while it does make sense, if you think about it, rebecca said that a fusion's size depends on the task at hand. much like how in cry for help, sugilite was bigger than she was in coach steven, to destroy the hub once and for all. i think the fusion prop seen was a fusion between garnet and rose, and the fusion was the size it was to take down that sea monster guy... thing... whatever you want to call it.

  • @moddable6921
    @moddable6921 8 лет назад

    The statue is a fusion of Amethyst, Pearl, Garnet, (Ruby + Sapphire) and Rose/Steven. This was already explained and is a bold theory with a high probability of it being true. You can see on the statue the hair being Rose, and the top mask is very similar to the one of Malachite, which is a fusion of Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl. Therefore this is definitely a fusion of all four. The only things we don't know are the fusion's weapon and the name of the fusion itself. But we have seen underwater in a few episodes that the weapon is a sword, most likely a combo of all the previous weapons in some way.
    So the statue is not a fusion of Garnet and Rose, but a fusion of Garnet, Rose, Amethyst and Pearl.
    The only thing is the name. We can't figure this out unless we go deep into the gem world. Can't be Bismuth, since that was already explained in an episode, and a lot of other things too long to talk about.
    Guesses:
    Topaz, Iolite, Citrine, Fluorite, Tourmaline, Zircon, Beryl, Padparadsha, Diapside, *RAINBOW QUARTZ, Which could be the one*, Aquamarine, Tanzanite, Amber??
    NOTE: *These are guesses and you do not have to agree with them. Do not flame me with hate.*

    I'd say Rose, Garnet, and Pearl... could be a number of reasons why amethyst wasn't involved but mainly it's because both rose and garnet are quite chunky but the fusion was more slim and graceful, like pearl, and as we've seen a fusion with pearl and Rose has only two arms like garnet, meaning four arms overall.

    After reading a few different comment threads on here, it seems like most people are ignoring the shape of the nose. It isn't as exaggerated as Pearl's, but Pearl is literally the only Crystal Gem shown to have a sharp nose, which means she almost has to be a part of the fusion. The top part of the hair matches the shape of Garnet's hair. The shape of the body also matches the shape that her fusions tend to have. The large size as well as confirmation that it can't be Alexandrite or Sugilite means that Rose has to be involved, or some other gem entirely. The only Crystal Gem that doesn't seem guaranteed is Amethyst.

  • @argus899

    Maybe the temple fusion was Rose with different gems, like maybe her advisors or leaders of smaller units within the rebellion, whereas the one that saved the ship might've been just Rose, Pearl, and Garnet, since they might not have trusted Amethyst on a mission recuiring fusion just yet.

    The fusion is:
    Before reading pls know this is just my opinion so pls don't take it seriously and I'm sorry if I offended you
    -temple fusion
    highly unlikely it is shown with 4 arms and the color of the hand is similar to the hand of opal.most people think the quadruple noogie is real but that is most likely just added by steven.
    - sunstone ( fusion of Steven/rose with garnet)
    I think this is quite unlikely notice how Steven and pearls fusion is rainbow quartz 2.0 but the sunstone we know is just called sunstone no 2.0 so in my opinion it's not sunstone. And when they warned the old Dewey rose wasn't there to warn him
    - opal
    For me this is the correct one
    For starters
    The number of hands matches
    The color of the hand matches
    And pearl wrote the script and the memories of a fusion is passed down to the gems that make up that certain fusion and pearl wrote the script and opal is a fusion of amethyst and PEARL.
    Some people think the hair is not the same so it's not opal but that was a long time ago and pearl and amethyst could've looked different back then

    Hi i love your videos!!! Okay now about this, i think im biased toward it being a fusion of all 4 lol, heres what i was thinking on the evidence u put up that didnt favor that; I feel like the quadruple noogie comment shouldnt be factored in as evidence for which gem it was. if Steven had said "the octupple noogie", it wouldnt have made sense to the audience. I think steven was simply referencing the fact that this shadow puppet had four arms, so that the audience would understand and find it funny. Why would steven reference the 8 arms in the scenario even if he DID know the real number of arms they had & it was indeed 8 instead of 4? I think the comment was more lighthearted and wasnt supposed to hint at anything. Plus, i dont see how steven would know enough about the event, or any of the humans who claim to know the tale, because it was obviously twisted in some ways already (50 foot tall dewey, for example.) Steven doesnt know any more about the event than we do, so that would be a reference lost on the plays audience and the actual tv shows audience lol.

    I believe it was all 4, and here is why. to reach 50 feet, you would need all 4 to get that much mass. Also to perform a Quadruple Noogie, you would need 8 arms, four to hold the monster in a headlock, and four to apply the noogie.

    It should be noted that the statue of the temple is easily 50-100 ft tall in a SEATED position. One thing: fusions do not change their general shape. Stable fusions being more humanlike than unstable fusions is a metaphore, not an in universe rule. Garnet would have the same shape and number of limbs even if Ruby and Sapphire hated each other. Malachite will be giant six armed, four eyed, sea monster even if Lapis and Jasper became best friends. The colouring and the outfit may vary but the gem itself stays the same physically.

    Rose+ Pearl (or any crystal gem) + Amethyst ( or any other gem) = Sea fusion

    since amethyst wasn't a part of the group, this fusion could have been garnet, rose, and pearl since height and relationships count when fusing. rose and pearl have a wonderful relationship which gives us the tall two armed woman and with the addition of garnet there would be extra arms and perhaps eyes. (which at the time their relationship would be enough to be stabilized for fusion, and fusion with different gems were still sort of new)

    maybe Rose is some kind of 'perfect gem' and would make any fusion including her mostly perfect. Considering the fact that the other three gems are less human looking than rose (Pearl's huge nose Garnet's three eyes and Amethyst's strange body shape) that might be why the fusions including them have more abnormalities. It could be possible that Ruby is also a 'perfect gem'. Considering her and Sapphire make up Garnet it could by why Garnet looks the most human out of the living crystal gems. While someone could argue Sapphire is more perfect than Ruby, i would say that because Ruby has two eyes, two arms, and two legs she would be more human like of the two. But Because of Sapphire, Garnet has the abnormal third eye. But it's just a theory.

    Um - the figures used during the play looked like carboard cutouts to me. The monster looked like the mother worm thing from episode one, and the gem looked like Sardonyx (around the hips and waist) only much bigger hair.
    Most likely the cutouts do not represent true scale or appearances of the gems but I am inclined to think the gem was no larger than sardonyx and we know for a fact that even the appearances of fusions can change between appearances.
    Contrast using Garnet.
    If the gem was not in fact Sardonyx, I am inclined to think it was merely a Garnet/Rose fusion.

    A Noogie is performed with two arms. One to hold, one to attack. If we multiply the number of simultaneous noogies by the number of arms needed we get 4*2=8
    The shadow puppet is merely lacking. The Temple's form is the Gem who saved Dewey.

    I think it is the fusion of Rose and Garnet you can tell by the hair it's curly and bumpy like Rose's hair and it stays together like Garnet's hair

    from the series end, we can see that it is indeed the fusion of rose, pearl, garnet, and Amethyst

    A noogie is performed with 2 arms (one to grapple, the other to do the actual noogie). Therefore a quadruple noogie would require 8 arms.
