I was curios if you do much in the way of Platinum jewelry? Would be cool to get a video on that too. Seems fairly rare (and expensive) but read it to be one of the best bio compatible metals out there. Got my first ever piercing after watching your videos btw. Your pros and cons helped me decide to take the plunge. I got a Prince Albert last year lol. Didn't hurt as much as I thought it would... but thought I was gonna bleed out and die the first time I had to pee :P Wanted platinum eventually but I calculated the weight at roughly 4.8x heavier then Titanium for the same ring size. Given the ease of stretching It, I opted against that idea... Niobium is actually much lighter then gold but twice as heavy as Titanium. Niobium is 8.57g per cm cubed (titanium is 4.5g). Gold is 19.3g and Platinum is a whopping 21.45g !!!
Yeah I was going off memory on the gold weighing more or less than Niobium. Thank you for correcting me. I don't really have much experience working with platinum jewelry. Short of Anatometal used to add a platinum layer to their gold when I stocked their gold. I'm not sure if that is still the case. I'll try to do some research and come up with a video. I think the main issue is that I'm not seeing high end manufactures using it often in regular production.
Ahhhhh niobium. It's central to the research I do for my PhD as it's among the most used materials in my area of research (superconducting circuits use alloys of niobium and titanium in some circumstances). I've been meaning to get my hands on a niobium septum ring as a sort of reference to that (and also cause right now my septum ring is steel and magnetic stuff isn't the best considering I work near strong magnetic fields), but gahd damn it has been IMPOSSIBLE to source in France without paying a fortune... And seeing how soft it can be, I'm scared my dreams of a nice black niobium clicker might just stay just that : dreams.
Yes and this is the reason that Niobium went from the most common jewelry material after SSS to being rarer than Gold Jewelry in the early 2000s. Superconductors. I will tell you that you are more like be able to find a seamless ring, captive bead ring or crescent ring. Be very careful there is a lot of stuff out there that is being sold as black niobium, titanium and SSS that is in fact coated with something. Usually what they call black PVD. It's easy to find information on what PVD coating is but no one seems to know what the actual coating is. Do you have access to an anodizer? Because it might be interesting and help with your understanding of the material if you tried to anodize it yourself. I personally have never gone all the way to black with niobium because I just don't stock it anymore. The other option with black jewelry is black gold which is Gold jewelry coated with black Rhodium. Not cheap but you may be able to find a clicker in that style.
Jewelry made from implant-grade materials (such as F138 stainless steel or F136 titanium) are non-magnetic, so if your ring *is* magnetic, it should be replaced with something higher quality.
I love the nose piercing you gave me today it wonderful!! I will be coming back if I ever want a new piercing.😊
Happy to pierce you and look forward to piercing you in the future. Don't forget to come back and downsize in 6 to 8 weeks.
Thank you for all the great videos and the amazing information love the format keep up the amazing work
Glad that you are finding them informative and thank you for watching.
I listen to these vids on my commute home.
I hope it helps to make them pass faster while you learn a little.
I got my daith pierced with a niobium captive bead ring about 8 months ago! I went with niobium bc I could get it in pink lol
You can also get Titanium in pink too. Thank you for sharing.

Hi! At what voltage can you reach black on niobium?
From what I understand it is extremely high but I have also heard that you use a blow torch. I have never done it.
@@BodyPiercingTattooing thank you 🙏🏻

Yes it should be.
