Oh JC, "oh and I love shattering their little world when I tell them it's made by some Italian guy named Giuseppe...Vibe on that hippie" I love you for that
" And I Love shattering their little world when you tell em it was made by some Italian guy named jessepi... vibe on that hippie!" AHAHAHA THE SASS IS TO MUCH 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂👑
Really glad you touched on synthetic turquoise and opalite. I'm a turquoise junkie and have been having a hard time finding true turquoise ANYTHING, let alone plugs. And I am so tired of seeing people talking about how they love opalite stone, hopefully a professional tellin' people it's glass will make them listen! Also- "Vibe on THAT, hippie!" made me laugh so hard, holy moly.
Hey J.C ! I just love your professionalism, your vibe and style. You're so passionate about your job, and it shows; I could listen to you explaining stuff for hours ! I'm French and I hope one day I could be pierced by you !
something funny happens to stone and glass there are really simple and curious ways to know if a stone is really what it claims to be , hold the stone in your hand if the piece stays cold and doesn't heat up with your bod y heat then is a real stone if it heats up and doesn't stay cold its glass or god knows what also another way is to take a lighter and burn the stone if it leaves a mark its a plastic or glass or god knows what if it stays pure without any mark then its a real stone , i learned this from my mother who loves stones and know a lot of things about stones :)
Well not all artificial opal is fake. Scientists have learned how to make gems in labs that have the same chemical make up at their natural counterpart
opalized glass or opalite is a man made gem that has the same chemical properties as opal so its kind of like a mixture between both glass and stone but its all synthetic
Idk if I ever posted this story on here but I must share it. I was in Salem, MA for a concert and, of course, we had to go and adventure in the Witch Shops. So I go in and see that they're selling stones. All the basic stuff.. But then I look over and see gold stone. I ask about it and they try BSing me with the hole "It's story is it's made from the dust given off by fallen stars" "But is it a real stone?" "Yeah! We only sell real stones!" Needless to say I laughed, explained it to them, then walked out feel sorry for anyone who is drawn in by their foolishness.
I wouldn't have said anything if it was just cheap stuff but they were trying to sell it for $7.50 A STONE. Mind you, these 'stones' were no bigger than a 1 1/2in plug. I'm hoping people overheard and walked out, as well! That place was ridiculous. A piece of obsidian was almost $50!! Not even looking at it monetarily, that's just bad business practice.. (I try not to miss a chance to take the piss out of anyone who would cheat people like that>:D)
Thank you so much for making The Modified World. It's a great resource for simple, easy to understand information. I send my friends to you when they have questions and I have also learned a lot. Keep up the great work!
seriously I was very disturbed with myself because I kept thinking the he reminded me of Andy Biersack and I just really wanted to ignore that fact and keep it in the back of my mind but you said it. but yeah Andy is lifeee
A lot of synthetic turquoise is either plastic, glass, or Howlite dyed blue and black, and that’s why it looks so off. Howlite has a different luster-ie. none, when compared to the real thing- and it’s a different hardness. The reason turquoise is so precious is that it’s rare and beautiful and all, but also that it’s very soft. That’s part of the reason why turquoise is almost always cut as a cabochon- it lacks the clarity of other stones, so it doesn’t exactly require the facets to really reflect the light, and it’s so soft that its cleavage just isn’t suited for those kinds of multi-faceted cuts. Howlite handles those even worse, but it’s much easier to carve because it’s significantly softer and cheaper to make. but ultimately it looks sort of crappy when being passed off as ‘turquoise’. Howlite is a beautiful stone on its own, and I think it would be a lot more effective to just advertise it like it is.
I'm all for healing in stones even if it's more of a plecebo ie faith. My daughter needed heart surgery and before her op we put charged rose quartz under her mattress in her basket and also after when she was in recovery, I like to think they soothed her. If not it was good for me to keep sanity during it all. :)
J.C. I think the videos are always conveyed in a responsible, professional manner and I think that the information you are sharing is fantastic...I love sharing these because I feel like it helps answer the questions so many customers have and its nice to be able to refer them to a video rather then repeat myself over and over lol....you rock...you got my respect;)
The Goldstone is also a interesting story to it because it was not made in purpose it is a glass that unintentionally got copper flakes added to it that gives it the starry appearance so it was originally created with alchemy between glass and the precious metal Copper :)
Thanx for this. You are entertaining! And even tho you're not a "geologist", you do seem well-informed on stones. Good for you! I'm not a geologist either, but am a biologist with some geology knowledge under my belt. Nowadays, I'm a jewelry maker & lampworker. Just FYI, did you know that the "gold" in goldstone is actually copper? So the "hippies" (that comment made me LOL & I love hippies!) could actually be feeling the vibes from the copper. Also, a lot of the fake turquoise now is made from dyed magnasite. Magnasite is a naturally white or off-white veined stone that's pretty all on its own & takes a dye really well so it's easily found in all different colors. It's very common & inexpensive, so if you see something labelled turquoise that's pretty cheap & looks pretty real, it's undoubtedly dyed magnasite. Just thought you'd find those facts interesting. Keep the vids coming! They're great!
I love your attitude! I've just recently stretched to a 2 and I really like the look that stone plugs give people. I think a video explaining the difference between stretching and punching would be a great video to watch!
there was a part cut from this vid where I talk about "aventurine glass". Aventurine is a natural stone from Brazil, "goldstone" was the name they gave the glass product once natural aventurine was introduced in Europe- it's the only time in English that the synthetic gave the name to the natural. As far as malachite- honestly, I can't remember what it is exactly, I just knew back in the '90s people were having trouble with malachite beads, especially in anything that gets wet.
Just an opinion... I think he would look great with a bridge piercing. He looks fine the way he is but I don't know my attention was just drawn to that area of his face.
Glad people are learning a little bit from them, or at least getting some entertainment, or at least I'm providing a professional perspective on piercing here on RUclips, since no one really is doing it.
I just giggled at the part when you talked about the people feeling vibrations coming off of the gold stone. As someone who is actually really into crystal healing and stones in general.. I can tell you right now, if you actually have the ability to "feel" the energy of a stone, you're not going to feel anything when picking up a piece of glass. P.S. You clean up quite nicely.
When i watch these videos, i come away entertained and more informed! And for some reason his voice, demeanor and his "antics" are very satisfying (in a non-sexual way) to watch!!!
hard to tell whats real or not but this video helps a lot. not only to describe the different types of stone but the way to tell if the product is worth buying or not. keep it up!
I have a couple big chunks of obsidian, a huge piece of rose quartz , snowflake obsidian and various other agates. I live near Yellowstone Park and my Father loved to go there and find stuff. This was before they yelled at you for taking stuff. (I mean I am 61 so that was a LONG time ago :) ) I also have a huge piece of petrified wood, which is cool. I LOVE rocks and stones and gems. Montana is a great place to find beautiful things in the ground.
all your videos help me in my arguments against people that think they know more about jewelry and piercings. they also keep me from buying stupid jewelry from tattoo shops that dont know what they are really selling. thanks alot man keep it up
Actually... Geology is not the study of stone. It's the study of earth's physical structure, substance, history and processes. Petrology is the study of stone. BUT to remain relevant any viewers wanting to find stone plugs will want to look for a Lapidary Artist. BTW, great stone review! For someone not being a rock hound you know your rocks!!
I noticed that most Turquoise sold online is actually a Howlite gemstone that is typically white with black lines that go threw it but then is dyed to match the Turquoise colour . I only know that because I am a collector of gemstones :)
Lovely collection of jewelry. Good level of information. I was raised up a "rock hound" so being able to get a variety of stone jewelry is a joy. I had a jewelry salesperson try to correct me so hard when I asked to "look at the opalite glass pair." That, no it isn't glass it's stone. Haha ok. I don't even know if you could make plugs/ hoops out of opal because of it's delicate nature, let alone afford it. That being said, I don't mind the fake stones/ glass as long as they are safe. I have a few opalite pieces. I'd like some blue goldstone. I would also like some turquoise jewelry but so much of it is other stones dyed and I worry about the safety of such pieces. Like, if the vendor is willing to lie about the composition or is ignorant of it, do I really want to wear this stuff? I suppose a plug with a turquoise inlay could be one way to go.
Same here, I don't mind the stones being synthetic as long as they're safe and pretty. I've stayed away from turquoise because it could either be dyed Howlite or some plastic material and I don't want the latter in my body
Intrepid made a line of solid synthetic opal plugs a few years ago- they were super hot, but very expensive, and not available in sizes over (I think) 10mm. Natural opal would be god awful expensive, and extremely fragile. I mean like NICE new car expensive for matching solid opal plugs. Come out and see us when you're in the D- it sucks in December, but we will be here!
As one of those "hippies" that can relate to the "vibes" of crystals, it actually doesnt matter if the material is man-made or natural, as everything HAS energy in it, especially since WE are energetic beings, the things we MAKE we transfer our energy to it in the process. That goes for fabrics, food and everything else as well. The denser the molecular structure (matter) the lower the "vibration" (energy) of it. Thats not hippy-dippy shit it's SCIENCE.
there are hardness tests and acid tests and other stuff- I've watched some videos on identifying stones but I don't dare preach about that unless I brushed up on the topic. If you called them they could tell you if it was natural or synthetic- but I wouldn't sweat it either way. The synthetic opals also have some kind of polymer binder.
You should do a video on your makeup. It's rare to find men who are comfortable like you. I adore my stone/glass plugs. I'm only 1mm from my goal size and looking forward to wearing all the lovely stuff you've helped me buy from quality sources.
Relic Stoneworks, Onetribe, Sacred Organics, Oracle, Evolve. They are all really great. Some of the places you might have a much longer wait than others, but they're all worth it.
FUCK YEAH BOSNIA!!! I love all our viewers, but I especially like seeing places outside the US, UK, OZ, NZ, and Canada- I wish I could get these subtitled in lots of different languages, especially the informative ones. Thanks for watching
I love your videos so much and I'm no piercing expert but at the end of the video you said that you aren't telling us to go weigh down our ears but it does work, I would have touched on the fact that weight makes an uneven stretch and stretches out the bottom of your lobe rather than your top (in terms of ear stretching) but its no buggy haha its pretty easy to figure it out without someone stating it. Love your videos! Thank you so much for your time and everything!
the funny thing is most "howlite" is an aggregate (google synthetic howlite rough). LOTS of stone is dyed....most black onyx is dyed black. Synthetic turquoise is just the blue-green version- you'll see pink and yellow and black with white veins and all kinds of variations. Some are pretty interesting- the synthetic opal and lab grown quartzes at least.
It was suggested to me after the TV segment that I should try a little harder to look a little better when I appear on video. My mental image of myself isn't scruffy- I wish I could be fancy all the time, but it takes a lot of work. Things are happening behind the scenes that are kind of making me have to step my game up- can't say right now, but there are some exciting things going on ;)
I'm trying to come up with some aftercare- what to look for in a studio- sterilization basics videos, but it's actually pretty hard to do something comprehensive, yet interesting, without leaving out hugely important things. I am torn, because without pros making the info public, people aren't getting it, but if I do one and miss something, then I've contributed to misinforming the public. It's a huge responsibility and one I do not want to fuck up!
I feel like sending you all my jewelry. I mostly own stone plugs and eyelets. Because i personally love the way they look and feel, but this video is very descriptive and awesome just like you :) I wish I could go to your shop and see all of your jewelry I'm sure you have the best quality stuff.
I promise I'm pretty difficult in real life- part of why I do videos is it allows me to interact with people in a very controlled manner. That said, for the people I'm tight with I'd put lead in asses or dig holes at 3 am for ;)
YES- everything in this video (except Kenny's labradorite teardrops....and I can get a pair of those too) is for sale in my shop. I usually have at least 100 pairs of natural jewelry in every size, plus a bunch of glass and titanium. You let me know what you would need and I can make it happen :)
Another property that agate has is that it absorbs dye, so many of the agate jewelry pieces that you see with oddly vibrant and saturated color are dyed, even though the stone its self is real natural agate. Similarly a lot of fake turquoise jewelry is made out of a soft stone called howlite which has been dyed. Fortunately a lot more manufacturers are starting to be more upfront about these things and will actually label the jewelry as "synthetic turquoise" etc.
Great episode. Like, when you were talking about the materials that quartz grows next to, amethyst is an example of that! I cannot wait until I get to my goal size. My wallet will hurt, but I will look FABULOUS.
another fun fact about malachite is that the stone is water soluble. some people like to put rocks into their water or just in their mouth and i found alot of articles about how people who use malachite are at risk for heavy metal poisoning
randomly crossed this video while looking at body modifications, found you to be fun and informational about stone jewelry watching more of your videos now. good stuff ^-^
JC, your style is badass. Those boots- hnnnngggg. I just bought myself some rose quartz eyelets in 1" for when I reach it, +they're gorgeous. I own 2 pieces of opalite, which is my favorite. Anyway, I learned a lot, as usual. Since 1" is my goal size, I plan on getting quite a few stone pieces for my collection.
he sure knows his rocks i thought he was just smoking them when i saw his beard n nails and un tucked in tie . but after a couple minutes . He is awsome.
I love your videos, they're so helpful. Being a newbie to stretching but not body mods, it's hard to find people that know what the fuck they're actually on about. Thank you!
Interesting stuff about stone plugs. I love how you have had those new age crystal hippies come in blabbing about their fake stone plug vibrations. I know a geologist friend who had lots of fun doing what you do in crystal shops ;). Keep up the word on good jewelry!
elisethemagicdragon I wear it sometimes, sometimes not. I don't do it for RUclips or work, I do it for me :) but, I also get lazy, or sometimes just don't feel like it. Just got some new stuff so I've been wearing it a lot more in my newer vids!
I'm into the crystals and all that shizzle but goldstone is easily the most fake feeling "stone". if someone thinks goldstone is something that can hold vibrations and it's amazing well... your Italian man named Jesepi can tell them how many vibrations went into the machine to make the glass glob. btw, all of the plugs are beautiful!!! I'm at a 4g and seeing these bigger sizes are making me excited to go bigger
The perfect amount of strange and educational
"vibe on that... hippy" XD cracked me up XD
Same XD
I'm a hippie lmaoo
but I'm not all like "ooohhh this jewelry has good vibes" the only things that give off vibes are people animals and sometimes old houses or places. 😂
sssssaavageee
Favorite line of all time. I want a gif
Oh JC, "oh and I love shattering their little world when I tell them it's made by some Italian guy named Giuseppe...Vibe on that hippie" I love you for that
love your suit JC i always imagine you sitting infront of a fireplace drinking 200 year old whiskey stroking your beard
I'm a geologist and I loved this! Also super informative thank you - finally you look so awesome with your hair down!
" And I Love shattering their little world when you tell em it was made by some Italian guy named jessepi... vibe on that hippie!" AHAHAHA THE SASS IS TO MUCH 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂👑
eyebrows on fleek
Really glad you touched on synthetic turquoise and opalite. I'm a turquoise junkie and have been having a hard time finding true turquoise ANYTHING, let alone plugs. And I am so tired of seeing people talking about how they love opalite stone, hopefully a professional tellin' people it's glass will make them listen!
Also- "Vibe on THAT, hippie!" made me laugh so hard, holy moly.
Thank you so much -blushes- while I appreciate feedback from everyone, it does mean a lot more when a seasoned pro supports what we're trying to do :)
Hey J.C ! I just love your professionalism, your vibe and style. You're so passionate about your job, and it shows; I could listen to you explaining stuff for hours ! I'm French and I hope one day I could be pierced by you !
You rock JC! Wish I would have found your vids before I even started stretching. I'm learning a ton from you.
brent morey thanks mane- I'm just trying to help people out!
something funny happens to stone and glass there are really simple and curious ways to know if a stone is really what it claims to be , hold the stone in your hand if the piece stays cold and doesn't heat up with your bod y heat then is a real stone if it heats up and doesn't stay cold its glass or god knows what also another way is to take a lighter and burn the stone if it leaves a mark its a plastic or glass or god knows what if it stays pure without any mark then its a real stone , i learned this from my mother who loves stones and know a lot of things about stones :)
NANArt thank you. So. Much.
Awesome thx!
I've learned alot! Thanks, I've been wearing acrylic plugs forever and it's nice to know there not healthy for me! I need some good plugs now asap!
Alright, You had me hook line and sinker when you glared and said "vibe on that....hippie" I died and then subbed!
I hate when people get opalite plugs and show them off saying, "I love my new opal plugs" ITS PLASTIC
Yeah, at least mine a glass. Cause I actually really like them, they look really cool. But I don't even pretend they are actual stone.
Well not all artificial opal is fake. Scientists have learned how to make gems in labs that have the same chemical make up at their natural counterpart
opalized glass or opalite is a man made gem that has the same chemical properties as opal so its kind of like a mixture between both glass and stone but its all synthetic

+Alyssa Ball (SwimmingInTheSky) I love hearing this :) I love it when people take the piss out of bullshit artists!

Love the suit but please please please tie your tie shorter so it doesn't poke out from beneath your vest haha
kent spence I can't unsee that now.
kent spence his tie is white that was a mic
I'm talking about his tie being so long it goes past his waist haha
kent spence now I see it
Thank you so much for making The Modified World. It's a great resource for simple, easy to understand information. I send my friends to you when they have questions and I have also learned a lot.
Keep up the great work!
"Vibe on that, hippy." I'm dying...
As an actual geologist, I do love to death that you made the caveat at the start of the video, it made me chuckle!
So glad I watched this, I’ve been looking at popular sites an can now tell a lot of them don’t have quality plugs
your voice is similair to Andy Biersack O.o xD
Andy biersack is life
GlitterGloss! Smh lol
Christel Emanuelsson I thought i was the only one who thought that
seriously I was very disturbed with myself because I kept thinking the he reminded me of Andy Biersack and I just really wanted to ignore that fact and keep it in the back of my mind but you said it. but yeah Andy is lifeee

That's cool- I do them for me anyways ;) Glad to see you still tuning in!
I was just browsing through youtube and came across this video... I only clicked on it mostly because you have the most unique style... Bravo.
Your channel is by far the most informative no BS guide to ear stretching and correct care and types of jewellery. I am so glad I found you!
Great stuff. Not sure it could be made much better really. I learned a lot about stone jewelry this evening. Excellent as always.
The Goldstone is also a interesting story to it because it was not made in purpose it is a glass that unintentionally got copper flakes added to it that gives it the starry appearance so it was originally created with alchemy between glass and the precious metal Copper :)

Glad people are learning a little bit from them, or at least getting some entertainment, or at least I'm providing a professional perspective on piercing here on RUclips, since no one really is doing it.
I don't have piercings any more, but I'm subscribing because holy crap was that interesting and informative.

you're right- there's a ton of options, and I can talk and show people what exactly I'm talking about- thanks for the idea :)

I love your fashion sense J.C. it's awesome
I absolutely love watching your shows, because you are a great teacher and do not hold any thoughts back. Keep it up....
A lot of stone is just dyed howlite so it's still stone. Like turquoise is just howlite dyed blue
Usually
"vibe on that, hippie!" that was fantastic. Very educational video.
I feel like sending you all my jewelry. I mostly own stone plugs and eyelets. Because i personally love the way they look and feel, but this video is very descriptive and awesome just like you :) I wish I could go to your shop and see all of your jewelry I'm sure you have the best quality stuff.
those teardrops at 9:00 are fucking beautiful dude, that reflection is amazing
"Vibe on that, hippie" fucking golden, love this dude lmao
I actually just bought some blue goldstone plugs, they're gorgeous but I had no idea they weren't real stone. Thanks for the information! :)
I absolutely love these videos, very educational, effective, moving, inspiring and professional. :} Keep them coming!!
Classy clothes, I'm a costume designer, and i respect that a lot.
And awesome informative video as always !
Most synthetic turquoise is either glass or dyed howlite. Also, love the sass!
This was posted on my 18th birthday! Also, you are funny, and knowledgable!
First time seeing your channel! I was throughly entertained sir. I shall return
he sure knows his rocks i thought he was just smoking them when i saw his beard n nails and un tucked in tie . but after a couple minutes .
Cool, I knew all of those stones. The makeup looks nice! In the other videos I watched, you weren't wearing any. Looks good!
elisethemagicdragon I wear it sometimes, sometimes not. I don't do it for RUclips or work, I do it for me :) but, I also get lazy, or sometimes just don't feel like it. Just got some new stuff so I've been wearing it a lot more in my newer vids!
"sparkly christ on a stick" that's freaking hilarious!
Carnelian is its own, red agate is red agate, they're not the same thing
youre my hero
I'm into the crystals and all that shizzle but goldstone is easily the most fake feeling "stone". if someone thinks goldstone is something that can hold vibrations and it's amazing well... your Italian man named Jesepi can tell them how many vibrations went into the machine to make the glass glob. btw, all of the plugs are beautiful!!! I'm at a 4g and seeing these bigger sizes are making me excited to go bigger
Your outfit and make-up at the begging just... omg. I'm so in love with it.
