Jamie you say you put your heart and soul into your channel and it shows! Not only in what you teach but in the production values of your videos. Thank you so much.
I taught myself this song on my old tenor when I was 15, such a beautiful tune! Only recently returning back to sax and so thankful for all the new stuff I’m able to learn online now as my mum couldn’t really afford for me to get many lessons back then so I mainly played by ear and never really progressed beyond high school stage band level. Now I’m playing 2-3 hours a day and obsessively watching RUclips vids like yours and downloading backing tracks and transposing all my fave tunes for my sax. It’s like reuniting with my true high school sweets heart! Oh the passion! 😂🎷

@Get Your Sax Together I continue to work on the sequence of notes, it's far from perfect, I slowed down the tempo a bit to make it easier for me. This is, by me, a very good lesson because it's not a common thing that a pro sax player tells you exactly how to divide every phrase in breaths too and not in intro-bridge-bars only.

Hi Jamie, thanks so much for your tutorial here and the 3-day Honeydew Island. I enjoyed it a lot, you presence is very encouraging, and I may jump to you masterclass wagon. Now after practising the Latest Trick I am desperately searching a backing track. Can you help me, please?
thank you , great teaching. I always have this question though where I sometimes feel unsure or confused. How did you decide which fingerings to use instead of other fingerings ? is there some rules that we should follow to decide which fingering to chose for every note. for example on the Alto why not go from C produced by the lower C with the octave key and from there go the C sharp next to it instead of the upper C then upper C sharp, or why not using the upper E flat after the Upper B flat instead of jumping to the lower E flat with the octave key. how do professional players like yourself decide what fingering to use and always get it right? I know it sound spotless and just like the way it sounded originally and should always sound
Great question. To start with I would say to use the regular fingering unless there’s a good reason not to. After that it’s really a matter of personal preference with a good dose of intuition through experience. Different fingerings have different intonation as well as different timbres, so that’s also a consideration. Plus, if the note is quite fleeting these things don’t matter as much as on a sustained note. Hope that helps.
Hi Jamie great video for a fantastic song thanks so much. I have a question about the key signature. Pardon my confusion but you specify 6 flats for Eb minor and the circle of 5ths app I am using says 6 #'s for this key, what am I missing are they the same? Please enlighten me. Boggled in Bohemia

I have a question, just picked up learning the saxophone, but I have a problem playing that Eb. When I dry playing it, my octave doesn't move. Why is this??
If you mean you’re pressing the right keys but the wrong note is coming out, it’s either because there’s a fault with your instrument or your embouchure (or “voicing”) etc isn’t correct. Hard to say!
@@GetYourSaxTogether After somewhat ten minutes I saw that with that note, a different octave key opened than usual. I didn't notice that before... haha thanks!
Stephen Truelove - I don’t see any massive reason why not, but there’s no way to get it to you as it stands. Maybe I’ll offer it as a bonus to members of my list once its all set up.
I'm guessing you're talking about the "bis" key. It's the small button next to the B key on your left hand first finger. Slide your finger over a bit and press it at the same time as the B key to get a Bb. J:-)

I didn't notice that before... haha thanks!
great video but how do I get the PDF?
Fred de Graaff - thanks. Click the link in the description for the pdf. 👍🏻
Hello what type is your saxophone ? Thanks you
Everything I use is listed in the description of every video, at the bottom, but my tenor sax is a Selmer Mark 6.
@@GetYourSaxTogether Ok thank you. so the saxophone that you use in the video is a tenor
Simon Hussin - yes tenor.
Can we get your backing track to play along to?
Stephen Truelove - I don’t see any massive reason why not, but there’s no way to get it to you as it stands. Maybe I’ll offer it as a bonus to members of my list once its all set up.
@@GetYourSaxTogether Ok thank you, sounds like a plan
I'm finding the Glissando hard to say the least lol, also in phrase 6 it shows no octave key 2nd note in ?
Oops! Sorry about that! Yes, of course that Ab should have the octave key. Practicing scales helps with glissandos.
good vid
twitch sprayxty - thanks! Glad you’re enjoying it. More great Hall Of Fame sax breakdowns here!

Which key does the small dot represents?
I'm guessing you're talking about the "bis" key. It's the small button next to the B key on your left hand first finger. Slide your finger over a bit and press it at the same time as the B key to get a Bb. J:-)
Get Your Sax Together thank you so much dude.
Oscar Eslava anytime man. 😀
, спасибо,👍👍👍
👍
I believe this sax line is a familiar interpretation of beethoven moonlight sonata.
Never thought of that. Fair point.
Hi Jamie. is the tenor sax lick at 5.55 meant to be - Eb* Ab* Eb* F* _ (E* Eb* D*) Db (and again at 6.09) ? Instead of Bb Eb* Bb C_ (B Bb A) Ab_
Yeh, there’s a note in the description. It was a f**k up. Sorry!
what is this song u just play?
Sax Meo - it’s “Your Latest Trick” by Dire Straits.
Amazing ,I'm so shit still lol
Takes time. Stick at it!

Yeh, if you look in the description it says “***PLEASE NOTE - at 5:53 and 6:08 the tenor and alto notes are on the wrong side on the screen. Also, at 4:01 the Ab should have the octave key as well. SORRY!!!***” Apologies 😬
