I believe what you're refering to is call the heel lift. There are two positions for this. Up or down. You can pull it up when you go uphill on a long distance to engage the heel crampons and help you climb with less efforts. A little bit like stairs.
Amen. China is no friend of anyone’s. Plenty of great products made in North America. I personally like Redfeather made in Wisconsin. You can keep the Chinese junk. Think if this NO COMPANY has ever sourced to China to IMPROVE quality. It’s nothing but cheap Cheers

Bought some GV snowshoes, they are made in Canada, these presented here are made in China 😝
