Sofia Coppola's aesthetic preference is exactly like my own, I hope to learn how to use filters like she has. At first she went into photography so I think I am on the right track with Film Major and Art minor with focus in photography.

Johnny is one of the most unsympathetic characters I have ever watched in a movie.

Johnny Marco's character is inspired by actor Keanu Reeves.
      Sofia and Keanu were together.
The film is a poisonous satire on him.
Sofia added the character of his daughter,
taking some memories of her as a child.

You forgot the hoisting up the ladder from daddy.

Occidental Awakening her movies are very far from her dad’s. Sofia pretty much carved out her own niche... but then again, you are also right. Coppola as her last name helped her a lot in this biz.

francis being her father definitely helped her with success/fame but people really do love her movies for what they are, not just because of the coppola name.

Well, non-American, let's not forget Daddy: money, connections, personal training, and name "recognition.". But while the talent is there, she cannot begin to equal him in success. Let her stay with the art film "indy" style and seek to make profits.

Without those connections she may very well have not become the second ever woman in the Cannes nearly 100 year history to win the award for best director. Yes nepotism has helped her, but she did put in an incredible amount of work to forge her own career in film (which is especially difficult for women). So how about we don't tear down the achievements of good people just becuase their parents support them.
