Yo fuí unos de los estudiantes en el Conservatorio Superior en Córdoba en los últimos años de su vida. A pesar de sus peculiaridades (como muchos artistas) era un guitarrista con mucha pureza y con eso me ha dado algo essential. Gracias, Don Manuel.
Yo también estudié con él en esos años... Un saludo desde Almería.

En Jerez cuando le dieron el premio lo vi tocar que sonido tocando increible yo diria que aquella forma de tocar esa limpieza esa universidad que tenia era unico era un catedratico

Many virtuosi add vacuous embellishments as if only to keep their fingers busy and the audience dazzled. Just ask yourself what is the conversation that the music is trying to enact, it will reveal where it's coming from. A self-absorbed virtuoso uses music to talk about themselves - it's all about impressing. They try to literally *impress* themselves onto you, the intent carries from the mind to the hands, from hands to guitar, from guitar to air, transmitted via that medium into your ears as changes in air *pressure* surrounding your sensory organs, and through into your brain. The self-absorbed virtuoso may be interesting in and by herself, yet have nothing interesting to say after you lose interest and intrigue in them as a person and a thing happening. They're aplenty, it's a pathology of our time. They exist in numbers because we want to be impressed. When we lost interest, we find another impressor. There is always something new; a new flavor, an effect, a novelty. Something surprising to make us feel like we haven't yet seen it all, adventures to look forward to. The shock, surprise and awe make us feel alive. We subconsciously move on to the next phenomenon and source of awe before we have had the time to realize how superficial the very experiences that make us feel alive are, like a cat and mouse game of seeking short-term gratification and trying to cover your tracks from death and the existential crisis tailing you.
Well, wasn't that a tangent... What I actually wanted to say is that after having listened to the Soleá twice, I'm feeling this guy is the real deal. There is no showing off. The intricate details and ornaments are a produce of the combination of a complex emotional life and intellect. His music is having a meaningful conversation, and he is actively participating. He doesn't have answers - he asks the guitar. He exposes to you his intimate inner world in the hopes that someone hears, understands, and has an answer. He's the genuine article with valuable stories to tell.

este febrero 2025 en granada le voy a hacer un tributo😊en el centro de documentacion musical me acuerdo como ayer que lo conoci en granada en 1981 un senor y maestro extraordinario y artista😊
