Currently I read a book called Rest, why you get more done when you work less. The title can be very deceiving, because it is a book about work. It advocates intense, focused, hard work followed by leisure rest such as: walks, exercise, and sleep. The main thesis is that rest, actual rest, not wasting an hour on fb go hand in hand with success. Yes many of these athletes put in a great amount of work and focused training but they also take ice baths to cool their muscles. They continue improving themselves but take it a bit easier on themselves during off season. They stretch after training to loosen up muscles and prevent injuries. They work, and rest with purpose. Hard work and hard rest go hand in hand.

The reason we critic hard work and love the high achievers is because we have to protect ourselves. Our ego. If I say hard work is great, necessary,.... and I don't do it, I will have an internal conflict. But secretly we respect it and we want to be able to do it. Like in your video about "The mental battle of an entrepreneur". The bad voice dislikes the guy in the red Ferrari, because saying you love it, really want that and not having it can make you unhappy. Its all selfprotection. I also believe hard work can make your depressed (not clinically). I have been getting up at 5am for the past 2 months, starting with a cold shower, then having my healthy breakfast, reading goals, watching some of your videos, re-reading my notes I took on your videos, studying for about 90 minutes , going to my day job, comming home, exercising, eating, cleaning, study some more,.... And I have days I feel really down because my mind is obsessed with my goal, but when I look in the mirror, I'm not there yet. I confront myself with reality and can no longer acccess sigarettes, junk food, gaming,.... as my coping mechanism. That I believe is why hard work can temporary make you unhappy.

It's been 2 days, but I haven't forgotten about your challenge. Another motivator for me is to leave no regrets in my life and I know if I don't try to be an entrepreneur it would be one of my biggest regrets

Lesson: The great achievers work hard. They have a passion to push themselves to their limits. This passion can be caused by curiosity.

Episode #30 - "Some of the biggest critics of hard work are some of the biggest fans on the great achievers." The great achievers are extremely curious with their capacity. Because of that, they work the way they do and they want to max out their life.

I think that study is based on and made by people who don't necessarily enjoy what they do. They see work as work not as a way of challenging themselves and growing and pushing their limits.

Depression from hard work would be from you being in the wrong business. You should be able to easily work 80 hours a week and not have to feel stressed because you want to be the best you can be and because you love the business you are in!

Though hard work can lead t depression, stress, health problems etc. the most successful people still work so hard. Why? Because they want to see what their potential is, go all out so they don't regret it later in life.

    1. All of us are fans and critics of things.
    2. Why do the people we admire, the politicians, celebrities, and athletes work so hard? Why not just come home at 5 o'clock?
    3. The great achievers are extremely curious about what they do and how far they can max it out.

Hard work can be fulfilling. We just need to find a way to break away from old habits, create new habits, and try to develop ourselves. For me, I have a lot of personal developing to do. It's simple to most people, but I know that once these first initial things are sorted that it will be like a tipping point for me. My main development is a lot of small things that stop me from being truly great but as I get better and improve then I will have no fear and nothing will stop me because what scares me most are the little things, not big things.

--- Can you die from hard work? ---
    Key Takeaways:
Great achievers work so hard, 1st because they are EXTREMELY curious of what their capacity really is, 2nd because they want to max out their life in order to have no regrets whatsoever.

Your story at Vault about the 3 or 4 guys you got to stay late and set appointments.... and they left one by one... and you stayed till midnight... and were the last one standing....
Good story.... but you can't do that when you're married... maybe there is a week per year where you do that.... but you can't live your life that way.
I have been doing the same thing for too long.
Wife's birthday, her father comes and picks her up, because I am working a job to finish until late at night.... okay at least I have only done that once.

About hard work and sitting (1m:36s)- for example Computer Application Developers can sit all day and work hard, same goes for accountant etc. Basically all positions that require heavy interactions with personal computers. Example - Zark Zuckerberg when he started work on facebook, Elon Musk creating Zip2 etc. :) Actually there is possibility to die at work en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kar%C5%8Dshi - the japan term on die at work, but this of course is anomaly and extreme example. Generally working hard is only way to go if we want to have something in our lives...

Artist too. I'm sitting and making art on program or I can stand to paint but it's not diffrent - you must sit in one place pretty much to focus and do your thing.

you can also get depressed from being lazy all day. You don't know it but by not doing any work, you'll never feel fulfilled and if you think you are happy, you're kidding yourself because humans are designed to want to achieve more and accomplishing goals can be more rewarding than relaxing and doing nothing all day.

Damn you guys, You've come so far in such a short time. Is it a safe assumption for me to believe that PHP was founded in 2009? I know you've said the date in the past, but honestly I didn't retain that obviously. Now, as for working too hard not being good for you? I think that's absurd. I absolutely agree you got it right; we want to see just how far we can push that envelope. I know I have a long way to go and a lot of rent to pay to attain and keep success, but I'm sure you knew you were meant to be successful long before you were, probably around the time you were sitting in your car, splitting a Big Mac (HEY! Speaking of, what happened to that guy? I think it would be very interesting to get an update on the man that shared the same experience and the same burger with you on the same night and see where he took his life. They say you are the company you keep, was he wise enough to keep your company or did you have to leave him behind?) Anyways, I digress. The way I see it yes, hard work is god for your character, good for your body, and good for your soul as well as your future. However, I also believe there is working hard stupidly. We all need to recharge in someway. I work on my project every day, I am thinking about my enterprise EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. but at the same time everyday I'm taking a little break all day. I work for a while then I take a short break then I work a while longer then a short break. Provided the task at hand doesn't have a defineable end in which case I wrap it up then I'm allow a break, but again thats besides the point. The point is when it consumes your mind you don't have a choice in working on it hard, but at the same time if it consumes you to that degree then you must love it as well and in that love, in that passion, in that drive you find your fuel because with that kind of dedication you are bound to make a success out of it and there's nothing quite like building a success with your own mind and body.
    Stay Passionate Valuetainment.

I don't think it's about criticizing hard work but how much of it you can take. If someone who has never worked out decided to start an exercise program and tries to bench 300lbs for 10 reps on his first day he would injure himself. There is a limit to how much your body can take. Doing hard work and pushing your limits is important to grow and get stronger but push too much and the risk of damage goes up significantly relative to the potential rewards or gains. I don't think the criticism is that hard work is not necessary but too much hard work is not good for you, there does come a point of diminishing returns. What that level is and what your capacity is is going to be different from person to person. Work hard and push your limits but not to the point that it breaks you or damages your health.

Guys I need help, I'm a 13 year old and want to become a entrepreneur. And I want to work every day, but I don't know what I need to work on, what should I do everyday to become successful. Read books? What can I do that takes up 5-6 hours of my day. Because when I study or work on something it only takes around 1 hour to finish it and I have nothing else to do so I end up procrastinating.
Some advice would really help me!

Don't take him too seriously for promoting toxic work culture. Had he been true, Germany wouldn't have been the best performing economy in entire Europe by working less. They only work 9-5 and assigning work after employee reaches home or encouraging employees to work longer or giveup on paid leaves lands employees resulting in long jail terms. They have really high salaries to live a comfortable life in German city downtowns. American corporate sucks big time.
