One year after getting my Axe Fx III, I'm still in that honeymoon phase. I watch videos like this and I still can't believe I actually OWN one of these, it's been far and away the best gear investment I've ever made and makes me fall in love with playing guitar again every single time I turn it on. Pure fucking magic.
EthanBeat&Sound you’re correct. After learning more about it, I realized I was wrong about that unit. It’s better than helix and kemper and very close to the real thing.
I am on the waiting list for a 111 already..but this demo would be enough on its own...gerat demo and SUCH nice playing..thank you so much Camilo..you are inspiring
Dude like I came here for the demo, but brother you are a excellent player I just have to say! Just love your phrasing. I'm looking at ordering one right now before black Friday ends!
Well ...... hell !!!! This video just cost me $2,500. I've been more than satisfied with my AX8. In fact, I even commented - on one of your other Axe III vids - that I wasn't impressed enough with it to spend the dough. I got my 'purchase invite' for the Axe III from Fractal last week but wasn't going to use it ..... then this video came out. If this is the baseline that they are building future firmware updates off of - I'm in. Bought the AIII a few hours ago. Don't know whether to be mad at you or thank you. Lol !!! Great video, man. Keep em coming.
Haha too funny bro! Don't worry man. $2500 is a lot of money, we can all agree. But you're gonna have this unit for be years to come. It'll be worth the money... not to mention from the AX8 it's gonna be a huge jump!!!
Camilo Velandia Thanks, man. I appreciate the time you put into these videos. I think they are the best resource on RUclips for Axe III demos. No regrets - I know I'm going to love the AIII.
Great video. I would love one about the amp models for use in Metal. As I heard the FX-III also works with the ML Sound Lab IRs and I would really love to hear the new amp models on the FX-III with the Misha Mansoor UltraRes cabs for example. A comparison of how much the sound improves with the IRs that can be bought in Fractal‘s online store would be awesome! 🙂
I promised myself no more major purchased after my ebmm Majesty for at least a year...the problem is a year's over a month and a half a go...Im gonna have to jump on one of them... trying to decide if I'm just gonna buy it, or sell some equipment for it...I have an easy 1k ready to sell, just some stuff I didn't care for...half way there...
Sounds great. Really great. I have the JVM410HJS and that sounded really close to it, but I really want to hear these AXE FX units through a power amp and a Marshall 1960 B or A cab.
AnAmericanGuitarist modelers are not designed to run through guitar cabinets. That’d be like running a miked amp and cabinet through a power-amp and guitar cabinet. Doesn’t make sense because the cabinet would be affecting the sound twice. Turning off the cabinet emulator in the AxeFX would get a little closer. Leaving the cabinet emulator on and using a FRFR, studio monitors, or a very clean powered floor monitor or house system would be best. With the usual EQ tweaks that’d be done in a studio or FOH by the engineer the modeler can be amazingly real.
Thanks. Yeah that's what I meant. Without cab emulation. I just wouldn't be happy without a loud amp behind me. I understand the FOH options and monitors. I am wondering about amp "chunk". There is that chunky cab sound and response when you crank the amp at a gig. I really enjoy that. I don't want the low sound louder. I want the chunk and feel of a loud amp. I would be interested in trying some of these things out, but there are few places across the USA where I could get it set up into a power amp and mess with it at a enjoyable volume. Home recording is huge now and these rigs are great for that, but I am thinking more along the lines of what Kemper is doing with the options, but also with a power amp.
Thanks for this demo. Unfortunately, this makes me so want one of these!!! Also, nice job of playing famous riffs, but deviating just enough to avoid copyright issues. I'm an ASCAP member so I know it's a sensitive topic, particularly venues who hire cover bands. I own a bunch of Marshall amps currently, including a JCM800 2205 and have been playing for ages. I've also owned some other classic Marshalls and modern ones, such as the JVM410H.
Thanks for posting this. Great playing Camilo! I'm on the wait-list for the III, forgive me if this is a naive question. For the feedback you are getting on some of the tones, are you able to get that with direct recording via the USB or are you micing an actual cab? Love the energy and the vibe the feedback gives. Thanks.
The feedback is coming from my studio monitors. I'm running straight into my interface and then into protools. No external cabs or gear. I find that if I want feedback, I gotta turn the monitors up.
nice playin', still hear a bit of harshness in the upper frequencies & digital fizz to a certain extent, havin' grown up with analog..maybe that can be EQ'd out.
Mind you even the hardware amps will have some fizz depending on how they are miked, the room and are also subject to phase issues with more than one mic. I do really prefer amp simulations over the real thing as I have an vintage '83 Marshall JCM 800 sitting in my closet collecting dust these days, as the amp sims are just so convenient, unless the real amp has everything going for it to sound 100%, I've usually found that the amp sims in most cases sounded better than a lot of amps that I had played over the years..most listeners wouldn't notice that little bit of fizz in a mix however I've engineered using analog for many years and then moved almost totally in the box, just so much more convenient and a better sound for the most part, for an example everyone talks about how wonderful tape sounded but you would have to EQ the highs back on the tape after you recorded etc.. cheers
On videos like this, are you playing through studio monitors (for what you're hearing) and then recording the signal to a DAW for the youtube video? Amazing tones and playing!
well I'll be a sob...This is going to make it really hard to justify f'n with big old tube amps anymore. btw what studio monitors you using? I'm about to buy some....
This thing is really awesome, but when I went to look at the price of a one, I thought man I'd rather just buy a 1971 Marshall super bass head and be done with it.
It does. Very dynamic. It does compress if the amp is cranked, like it normally would. Also depends on the amp, theyre pretty faithful to the design, so for instance, a twin won’t compress until you got it real cranked
I LOVE UA....can't EVER go wrong as a guitar player with Universal. Have you tried the III as an interface yet? According to Fractal, it should give the UA gear a run for its money. Nice playing and tonality by the way,
using monitor speakers......come on.....what speakers you using man....luv it!!!! Mackies, Adams, NOT M-Audio....not Klipsche........I WANNA KNOW PLEASE!!!! :D
Thanks man! Actually, for most of these, I compared them to reference isolated guitar tracks from famous records (van halen, GNR, AC/DC), and they're pretty close. I find Marshalls are usually really bright and they can get flubby/muddy when bringing bass in. Sometimes in the mix they sit perfectly. I have 3 other cabs in each preset... one darker than the next, but for this video I picked the ones that sounded most "classic" to my ears.. Check out some of those isolated Slash/Van Halen/GNR youtube vids. Some of those guitar tones are brighter than they sound with the full band!
@@CamiloVelandia Guitars will almost always have their highs/treble frequencies boosted in the mix and the low end (as well as ultra high end above 12khz) filtered off quite aggressively. In the room the guitar would have sounded darker than it ends up on the record. Great sounds though!

This video has the most phenomenal copyright dodging I've ever seen
Just saw this and thought the same. Great stuff! Very clever. 👍🏻😬🤘🏻
Haaaa..... took me a few “tunes” to figure out what you meant!!!
SOUNDS PHENOMENAL!!!
AXE FX III is all i'll ever need for glorious british Marshall amp tones!!!
Dude best sound I ever heard!!! You can play man!!!!! AXE III is just killing the game!!!
This is fkin brilliant. NOONE would ever have guessed that was not a "real" amp.
I have a jtm45 and the axe fx3 doesn’t come close. The keeper with a good profile is indistinguishable for me
Jimba Jumba it has gotten so close it is amazing
@@zwip778 Maybe not so accurate in this video but this AxeFX III can reach it... I notice the parameters has an extra tweaking values in its knobs.
EthanBeat&Sound you’re correct. After learning more about it, I realized I was wrong about that unit. It’s better than helix and kemper and very close to the real thing.
@@zwip778 you are a rare breed. Admitting a mistake is not seen very often on the internet. Applaus for you.
So I can buy one vintage Marshall, or I can have them all...
You are a bad ass player--everything from jazz to shred. I stayed for the playing as much as for the demos of the amp models.
I am on the waiting list for a 111 already..but this demo would be enough on its own...gerat demo and SUCH nice playing..thank you so much Camilo..you are inspiring
Some of those tones are just killer- wow
Dude, you are a phenomenal guitar player! Awesome the way you showcased all the amps. Well done and thanks for posting.
This is what I was waiting for, Marshall shoot out, good job, sounds great!
Awesome demo. Really nice playing. Thanks!
Dude like I came here for the demo, but brother you are a excellent player I just have to say! Just love your phrasing. I'm looking at ordering one right now before black Friday ends!
Thanks so much Gary!!
I love that Marshall sound !!
Ahhh....this is the magic of Marshall's.....
and you play the guitar so cool!!!

really gorgeous sound!!! and nice guitars collection Bro!!! Congratulations
While the sound is great, I just come here to watch and learn from this guy. Just awesome. Seriously dude, stick some guitar tutorials up for us.
Sounds awesome! Still can't wait for those Mesas eheh
excellent playing!!!!
amazing video

Yup! Fractal has included a lot of Ownhammer, ML, etc cabs. Over 2000 actually!
Why? There's so many AFX videos about metal. It's ridiculous.
Awesome sound and playing!!
Dear Santa, I need this.
Nice to hear the axe FX without any effects. Pretty much every fractal demo has a delay on.
I don't see where it's stated here - were these played/recorded with the IRs through a FRFR or w/o and a real cab? Thanks!
Just straight into protools from the Axe FX. No real cabs
Awesome tone! What year and model Les Paul is that? Want one just like it but there’s so many versions I’m having trouble
This is a Gibson Les Paul Classic 1960 Reissue
Great stuff man!
Just awesome!
ah! What a sound! Real deal, man!

Yeah! I find that marshalls do have that sizzle... but I generally do a high cut to about 7k-9k and it gets rid of the fizzy and brings more meat.

do you plan on doing a freidman low to mid gain demo? I really love the freidmans in the axefx2
These presets please! They are not uploaded yet.....Thanks!

Oh and please do the Dumble tones :-)

Amazing tones and playing!
Do you used all factory presets? Or you have modified them? Thanks 🙏
Can't wait for mine! Did you have to pay more for those relic'd pants you are wearing or have you had them for 30 years?
They belonged to Hendrix, and then to Eddie Van Halen and then I bought them off of Michael Landau. Modded with the Jose Arredondo mod haha
Presets Please! They are not uploaded yet.....Thanks!
hey bro! Better late than never! I've uploaded all of them!
Is that plugged straight into computer?! I can't believe how it feeds back so naturally! awesome tones

Are these sounds better than Axe II? I feel similar.
danyjr go for Kemper
No Bluesbreaker? :(
💥 Agreeded ✅ CV 🎸 Can Play💥
nice playing! I'm still waiting for a demo of how this is supposed to be better than the Axe-Fx II?
Haha way too many reasons... but I'll start with one at a time. I'm gonna do a new video on the cab block and blending cabs.
well its got a 3 instead of a two so its one better! :)
LOL
It's in the name, it's 1 better.
Awesome 👏 thank you
Does the guitar feel like a real amp with real dynamics and not compressed?
It does. Very dynamic. It does compress if the amp is cranked, like it normally would. Also depends on the amp, theyre pretty faithful to the design, so for instance, a twin won’t compress until you got it real cranked
Playing in a live situation, would you use a amp or the axe?
Wow man! Awesome! Recording with USB direct on computer?
direct to an UAD Apollo twin and then ProTools. No plugins or post processing.

Good stuff but those JVMs are dialed in horribly - they sound WAY better.
The tones are nice, but the riff versions are difficult to hear...

Ok Camilo...Seriously....How the fuck did you learn to play like that?!!! Is there any style you don't know or aren't good at?! Wtf...

Kemper better
plz at least learn the correct playing of the songs. HORRIBLE ….
Thanks. Im still learning.
