If your budget will allow... try to get a turn key L5P duramax from Banks Power with Alison auto... for the k truck... you will probably be the 1st in Australia 🇦🇺 with 1... I haven't came across radiator and fan clearance issues on my 85-87 surf and 4 runner... like you said its probably because you needed to space bottom forward... i also have not had brake issues but i agree its most likely the auto pushing..which you did, mention you upped the idle a bit... i am running 38 inch tyres but have 5.29 gears so im maybe gaining some extra engine braking aswell... I think s13 radiators are thin and similar size just would need to run a side swapping top hose... the L series motors run the double thermostats in them so it has to seal good on the base of it.. in the housing to pass through the radiator... Keep up the good videos...

Try dropping the tyre pressures to stop the radiator hitting - the Nittos are a very stiff sidewall and the Lux is very light. Probably need to go to 8 or 10psi. Would stop the excessive "tippiness" it displays. I know it was just a quick test so dropping pressures is a bit of a pain.

Try selecting 2nd in low, I use to compete in werock competitions and found when doing drop in offs it was hard to hold the buggy from wanting to drive though the brakes but still allowed you to power out if needed. Nice build by way and that Chev is mint

i've had similar brake issues on my Hilux, at low rpm the vac pump doesn't produce much vacuum as it's driven off teh alternator. In my case it was due to having a VNT turbo on mine that required additional vacuum to operate and it also had a bleed line as part of teh boost control. Once I closed off the bleed line my issue was solved but I only saw the problem at low rpm or idle.

Great work boys! I would be trying a pair of Spal USA electric fans, they come with built in shrouds and they pull huge amounts of air with very little current draw👍🏽 Oh and an LSA and 6L80 trans in the K truck gets my vote. Even a stock one would be a game changer in it 👌🏽
Love the vid, bit of advice tho it looks like you've put in an alloy rad, that is 100% gonna crack. the body on these luxys is actually quite weak at the rad and as your flexing the radiator is getting twisted, factory brass radiators can flex with the body but alloy ones are too rigid and they crack, throw it in the bin!
That flexy Hilux would fit right in on the Rubicon but will definitely need some bar work to keep the pretty paint. If you guys did a trip to the states would you bring the cruiser or the lux?
@macpreston rebuild old school style then twin turbo it or lsa that thing. keep it chev. And 2j or 4ltr quad cam v8 lexus engine then turbo it in the luxy If cost is an issue barra both of them n call it a day.

Trim fan a bit for clearance. Put in first low and accelerate just enough to make torque converter to engage and it will engine brake

The chains were used back in the day state's side. It was to grab tree sumps pulling them over and out. Later they were just decoration

Hey lads. Put some wire mesh on the back of the radiator.
Tim rumble on RUclips did the same on his hilux and fixed this problem.
