- International Railjet Train RJ 64 Budapest-keleti pu - Wien Hauptbahnhof in Business Class; Train is continuing from Vienna to Linz, Salzburg and Munich; Total journey time for Budapest - Györ - Hegyeshalom(Gr) - Vienna takes 2 hours and 41 minutes to cover 245 kilometers; ÖBB Railjet offers a three-class service: Business Class, First Class and Economy Class; Railjet is hauled by a Siemens Taurus ES 64 electric locomotive (1116-229-6)
Two of my favorite things, trains and planes.
It gives me nostalgia; I made this train trip from Budapest to Vienna when the Railjet did not yet exist.
Many thanks for this well presented video....it brought back memories of when my wife and I journeyed back to Vienna from Budapest. Entering Heygarshalom (where ÖBB officially takes over) we were most surprised to be presented with 'Welcome to Austria' gifts from the on train ÖBB crew! Incidentally, there was no such welcome from MAV staff on the way to Budapest...but we were fined for having a problem with one of our tickets. The fierce little lady ticket Inspector (she only spoke Hungarian) really enjoyed catching out two English travellers who only spoke English and German! Fortunately another passenger helped us out and his German was excellent, as good as his Magyar although he was from the Czech Republic. Apart from the terrible weather (late spring 2011) ...with the Danube flooding and the storms having done damage to the track...we enjoyed the trip. The big new Vienna Station was still bring built then but it's truly exceptional now it's been completed. Keep up your excellent work on our behalf. Best wishes from Bournrmouth, England.
What kind of welcoming gifts did you get !? I got on a trip to San Diego on Amtrak from Los Anges . It was a box of snacks ,it was very cute & a thoughtful surprise to us !! We took the trip in a business class . The staff was very nice !! I'd love to travel to Vienna from budapest & currently planning on it !!! 👍👍🚈💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞

Absolutely one of the best travel videos! Thanks!
Im always use the same train from Budapest Keleti-But after Vienna i change other train till Graz :) Love it so much! Love Austria! (L)
The buildings along the route are so beautiful
I took Railjet back in June from Munich to Vienna with some family. It was something I really wanted to do since I am crazy about trains. Very interesting experience too
yes; the business class reservation costs an extra EUR 15 on top of the first class ticket
I loved riding on the railjet when we took our family vacation to Europe
How nice the station, essetial and neat. They clearly have a point for railway business!
Great journey with wonderful landscapes, liked it!
I have taken the Railjet on Feb. 2019.
It was fast and comfortable for me, so I want to take it again someday.
Those new Budapest metro cars look pretty nice but I miss the old Soviet iron they used to run.
I always said, that those Soviet trains are horrible and the stations look terrible too. But it is not the same feeling to travell with this Line anymore.
Oldest Metro in the World, after London !
I just rode this train two days ago...in business class...it was great
Very nice video! .... Like ....... 😀👍🖐
Hallo, ein super Video, das mir sehr gut gefallen hat. Ich wünsche dir ein schönes Wochenende mit Grüßen von Timisoara
Love Budapest
My most favorite way to travel is by train. I travel long distance in the United States by Amtrak and also when I’m home in the San Diego area I ride to & from Los Angeles & Oxnard on the Pacific Surfliners alternating my visits between Los Angeles & Oxnard, California. Train travel is the best way to see a country.
Christopher S. O' Do you know where is Budapest?
Christopher S. O' Do you know where is Budapest?
Dave Amtrak Budapest is in Hungary in Eastern Europe.
which State is that?
The state that I travel on Amtrak is in California where I spent half of my life. I would like to see more passenger train service between Los Angeles & El Paso, Texas, but the Loser City Tucson area in Anti passenger train Arizona is against that. The states of California,Nevada,New Mexico,Utah,Colorado,Oregon,Washington,Wyoming & Texas plus Amtrak want to partner with the state of Arizona and develop passenger train service corridors, but Arizona doesn’t want to at all, hey are only focusing on commuter rail for the greater Phoenix area only.
A real jet as a bonus at 27 min. ;-)
Nice travel vid, thanks for posting.
In 2009 I rode regular coach from Budapest to Vienna and it was far more spacious than Railjet First Class. Still I regret I didn't get a chance to sample the ride quality of the faster train. However I did use my Amtrak credentials to persuade the crew to fix our hot car by opening the windows. I got a round of applause from other passengers.
I love Hungary and i m from Hungary

As far as videos go this was thorough and no comments got in the way. It could have been made a lot better if there was some information that got communicated. For instance, in the beginning you show the metro escalators. 20 years ago when I arrived it was OK. Today I'm older and I'm afraid to ride them. Deep, long and very fast. It is worth mentioning that on the brand new GREEN line there are elevators available also and one is not forced on escalators if you want to ride. For people like me - make sure that where you are going will also have them. (Because of the 'meeting' point of the lines at Deak Sq. one can ride the entire system of all metro lines without coming up to the surface. You saw that at one point they went down the escalator then up again - it was ad Deak changing lines.)
Below the video you could have shared the link to the page where people can buy tickets should they get so enthused seeing your video. They could click on it and buy a ticket without getting out of the mood searching for it. :) Just a thought. I'm about to search......
If you have time go to the engine and check its "singing" when it starts to leave the station. It sings do-re-mi.....
Frederick König yes, because it is high voltage😊
Zalan Lörincz - This is the only engine which "sings".
Frederick König no there are so much of them😂
Yes, it is a distinct feature of the Seimens Taurus locomotives!
Frederick König jhggffh
Nice video. Excellent you filmed the front of the train station. I have an idea where our apartment is located right there in that building on the side. What is the huge building at the start of the video? We will try MAV Business Class from Budapest to Vienna for another train experience so we can compare different trains. Anyway we are in Hungary.
Vienna is the most beautiful city in the world.
Maybe... But I prefer Milano, and I don't know why
I like Budapest more!
Sorry people. Expat. Born in Edinburgh moved to London. Now living in Austria. The most beautiful city in the world?....... Edinburgh. (Just don't go there when the festival is on. The world and his brother is there.) 😎
I have been in Edinburgh, also a nice city!
I am from austria and i Love Vienna
Thx for the video.

Do you had flew from Vienna?
What was the price of a ticket?
around EUR 54
@@doc7austin But only the first class ticket is so expensive. The normal ticket is a way cheaper
GOOD SHOOTING
Purely an observation, but that's the most deserted railway station I've seen...., well, outside of the US of A where personal vehicles and air travel are the norm.
Mi a manó? Mi a különbség a normál Railjet, vagyis RJ és a Railjet X azsz sz RJX vonat közott? És mit keres itt a repülő? So what is the diference between normal railjet and RJX train? And y is an airplane there? Where did u fly to? Why didn't you write in the scription?

10:58 I wish they would built that road bridge lower, because it is really sad that we cannot see the most beautiful part of Budapest
MGstaR17 Im so sad but I live in Budapest so I see the city every day
Magyar vagy?
WHAT'S BRAND CAMERA SHOOTING ???? THANKS A LOT
iPhone
I guess cheaper than flying?
+sam mich no so if you buy a normal tiket Form münschen to budapest , you have to pay so 40 Euro every person. and from Vienna you just musst pay 20€ (if you drive with the ICE Form München to Vienna you musst pay for the normal class 110€ and thats cheep
The Budapest is big B you foul!
Not at all, sadly. But a lot more comfortable and you get to enjoy the landscape.
Did you experience any passport checks? Was any meal included?
There were no passport controls - neither from Hungarian, Austrian authorities or railway security staff; It probably means that the Balkan route for refugees has been closed; Meals are not included; you may order food from a menu, pay for it and it will be delivered to your seat by staff; Only one drink is included with the Business Class surcharge
Interesting! I thought there still were checks but maybe they realized there is no need anymore.
Marcus Fey no there arrent passport passes
The second class should have been like that, too.
Wich flight were you taking and what was your destination on the flight?
+TheAgedGamer An Austrian Airlines flight to Germany
The rails in Europe don't have that clickety-clack you hear in USA. How do they do that? Utterly silent train on those steel rails. Very impressive.
The rails are welded together not bolted
The rails are CWR and not jointed
what is the top speed of OBB RailJet?
230 km/h, which can be utilized on some parts of the route between Vienna-Linz and Kufstein-Innsbruck.
When they are finished with building they also drive 230km/h in the Brenner base tunnel and in the Semmering base tunnel and also 230km/h in the Koralmtunnel
17:51 someone besides the tracks
245km in 2.7hrs = 90kph. doesn't seem that fast compared to ICE and TGV
+Michael Strelka The Railjet may travel up to 230 kph; however, the railway line between Budapest and Vienna (via Komarom, Györ, Hegyeshalom, Bruck) was opened in 1884; Many parts of the line had been running already since 1855; those historic railway lines do not allow trains running more than 160 kph; compared to 320 kph, whicj the TGV and ICE can travel between Strasbourg and Paris
Is there a difference between First Class and Business Class on Railjet?
Business Class has better and larger seats than First Class
Notice how empty the trains are... and more expensive than flying.
Train passengers usually don't appreciate getting filmed. I know I don't. So there's a bias in these videos where you'll get to see empty cars far more often than is actually the case. It's true that flying is actually the cheaper as well as the faster option on many routes, but it's not sustainable. Airlines can't keep prices this low all the time and there is considerable political pressure to revoke the tax privileges that airlines currently enjoy, which would instantly make flying 20% more expensive as well as eliminate some competitors from the market, resulting in an even larger price hike.
Hungarian-Austrian relationship 🇭🇺🇦🇹
Good video, but nothing in it enticed me into traveling on that train. Looked like just a dressed up railcar service.
On decembre will be Cluj Napoca Wien :)
No it is not. It' a different train, not Railjet...Railjet still operates only from Budapest.
It is nice and fun to take the train ride but did OBB make any profit from this connection? I doubt since most cars are empty. Someone needs to Ryanair-ize the train travel or shut them down to curb the losses.
If you look through the windows at 23:08, you'll see there are plenty of people onboard, but they are riding second class, which is the majority of the seats and way cheaper than first or business. The last 2 waggons of each railjet set are first and business class respectively, you can see that they are poorly booked, but that depends strongly on the time of day.
min. 24:26 vagoane c.f.r. in viena?
upsssss :)
+Florin Hiris this is the EuroNight Dacia train Vienna-Bucharest
Can you sit in business class with interrail first class?
+Terminate Central No! You need to buy a Business Class supplement.
Okay thank you!
the supplementary fee is EUR 15,00 (1 drink free, choosen from the menu, served at your place, seat reservation included)
No information on video.

Vienna lounge is better
Modern trains are so uncomfortable
You are handled as 'transport freight' not as traveller...
I've been on the old "communist era" trains. The new ones are way nicer
First class is actually extremely comfortable. You get nice seats and plenty of leg room. It comes at a price of course, though this usually also includes other benefits such as access to lounges.
Yes, like in eurostar or in CFR 20-68 wagon.
