OUTSTANDING! Thank you so much for walking us through how to get a VPC set up to support AWS Workspaces! The whole VPC set up really didn't make sense to my client and therefore they were bashing their head against the wall, getting all sorts of error messages and they finally called me out of frustration. Having never worked with AWS, I didn't know what needed to be set up but your explanation was crystal clear. The network diagram at the start helped me to know what the end state would look like and it all made perfect sense.

Great video, do I need to create a desktop instance for each user in the directory? or can I have mutltiple users use one desktop? What would be the best way of creating shared folder/directory between them 2 or more virtual desktops?
@@garycurtis Apparently you do as if a user logs into another workspace instance it will kick the other person off, so really everyone needs their own.

It should be isolated to that VD, or should stay within Workspaces, in theory. But if you have no security policies in place, have wide open VPN links to your on-prem, etc., it could spread. Just like on-prem though, security is ultimately your responsibility. Amazon does offer Trend Micro in one of the application bundles. I don't know Trend Micro's success (or failure) rate at stopping ransomware, but it is a layer of defense if you don't have a readily available solution.

It would be a giant game of disconnect. On Amazon's side, you can only login to the Workspaces client with a single user so if someone else logged in, the other person would be logged out.
There's an option when you walk through the wizard to do the encryption. Amazon changed a few things, but I can run through it again and see if I can find it.

It's going to come down to your subnet size. I sized it small in my demo, but for 50, I'd do a standard /24.

As far as I know, Amazon does not enforce any limits, but they do have quotas for number of workspaces available per account though.
