- We are doing a MASSIVE makeover on my daughter Ziya's playroom. My vision is to update it a little and make it more suitable for a growing child. This is going to be a fun and creative space, with room to relax, watch TV, do homework, work on crafts, and of course, play! But first we have to declutter by getting rid of a bunch of unused toys and craft projects organize everything so that it will be easy to her to find stuff, and make a plan for the rest of the room.

Watching this video brings back some serious memories for me of when my kids were younger and how many times my hubby and I tried to reconfigure their playroom. It’s a constant battle to workout what organisational aspects work. Having really good storage is a must. Also, just going through the kids toys every few months and culling them definitely helps too. Only keeping the main toys helps with needing less storage and avoids extra mess.

I don't think here's anything embarrassing about children fully expressing themselves and feeling mentally happy in their playroom. I think your daughter is being mentally stimulated and developing in a designated part of the house where she feels safe to explore ideas. I think that is wonderful. The play room looks lived in and it looks lovely.

Dear parents!
When Your kids are very good behaviour all the time and always taking good care of their things, keeping their rooms very clean, loving their favorite things and want to make nice childhood collections of their things: books, clothes, toys, video games, clothes, DVDs and etc, then donataing is very wrong thing to do. If You have few space then storage boxes and shelves will help You out and Your kids will be very happy and thankful then, if they can keep their favourite things. Childhood things are very valuable and it is very sad, if they won’t see them anymore in their life. Every child should have the right to keep their things, if they can take good care of them all the time!!!

This is my first video of yours. Your daughter is such a cutie! I laughed out loud at 'This looks like an episode of Hoarders on TLC". Seven is a sweet age but they do feel a strong connection to everything they own even tiny mismatched barbie shoes. Your cat is gorgeous. I have two long haired cats myself.

I’m thinking about lifting my toddlers playhouse so it can appear bigger. It might be a good idea for you guys too. Im considering adding wood pieces under it and covering them by hot gluing “grass" around it

Proper hair care should be taught to all girls as early as possible. The mothers hair should be an example for what the little girl is trying to achieve. Long shinny hair is a sign of good health and fertility.

Love the video but I just don’t see the point of asking Ziya what she wants to keep or how she wants to organize but when it’s something you don’t agree with you do what you want anyway. Lowkey made me sad you made her throw away her Spanish item that is a memory for her. Yes she will have many milestones but that may be the only thing she had in that moment that was special to her. Just saying.

Hello. I value Ziyas words. WHile she said she wanted to keep the maraca, its her memory of school, I was taught that is what you frame. When she say she is keeping something that looks like a skirt, she looks at her moms design skills. She is intellectual. She loves art. You can tell by her wanting to keep her art. SO give her an art class, and paint on wood boards. Great grandkids want that from their descendants. FInd what the child values also. Parenting is a learning experience. Also, Toni could keep the maraca in her home framed. Blessings. No offense. ALso wondered, why not take the pillows off the couch before moving it?
Ziya is a great artist and we keep her more special and intentional works of art. The maraca was just two plastic spoons taped together (a quick school project she was assigned in class). The skirt was ripped and unusable and she has several other ones she can use instead. Ziya has a hard time getting rid of things so if I follow her lead all the time our whole house will be full of literal trash lol. Remember this is an edited video and doesn’t give you nearly enough context to truly know what our typical habits actually are.
She cracked me up by saying put some stuff in the bathroom. I thought you were growing the little artist in her. I cant wait until you design the room for the next phase of her life. When are you doing houses again? I know you are sick of being asked that question.@@RavenElyseTV

You definitely need a desk for her to do homework and arts and crafts on the wall where the chalkboard is
She does all her crafts and homework downstairs at the kitchen counter with me, she's not to the point where she's independently doing those things by herself in a separate room yet. Just based on how we do things right now, a desk in the playroom would never get used but it would be taking up a bunch of space that she needs for playing. But I'm already planning a phase 2 of this makeover when she's ready to get rid of the playhouse, that will include a full size desk and everything basically replacing the playhouse!

Perhaps you could Include a larger desk with storage for arts and crafts? It could make sense to have that near the chalk board and it would be something she could use years to come even for homework when she’s older
You should get her a sketch book and tell her not to tear out the paper so she has a place to keep all her art. I’m like Ziya would keep everything if I could.

Raven, it really hurt my heart to see you tell your daughter that the Mexican Shaker that she made you wanted her to get rid of it. Allow her to have something from her childhood. I'm 59 and I still have items from elementary, and 7th grade woodworking class. My kids have items that I kept for them. Think Abt it. As one goes into adulthood and they think about what they have from their childhood and it's nothing there they feel some sort of way about their parents who didn't care enough to save something for them. My grown children still have dolls, sweaters, ties, pants, vests, pictures that they colored, body cut outs of them from elementary school and more. I put it in bins for them as they were growing up and they appreciate it.
I'm just not sure why people think because I encouraged her to get rid of those 2 plastic spoons taped together...that that means I NEVER allow her to keep ANY sentimental items and we dont have ANY keepsakes from her childhood. I keep a ton a of stuff, been keeping stuff since she was born...you saw how the playroom started off looking...stuff is clearly being kept lol just not every single random thing.....
I would have been throwing everything out... She would have one bin for barbie, one for doll, and one for arts and crafts..
