I love how you encourage her to make her own logical decisions while still giving her feedback! Even though it is so new to me for kids to get new pencil cases etc. every school year. In Germany, kids get one good quality backpack + lunchbox + pencil case + gym pouch set in first grade which they will use all throughout elementary school (1st-4th grade), and then a new set for the new school starting 5th grade.
It’s def not the norm for every person. It depends how worn everything gets, how well you take care of your things, and if it’s a “tradition” or not in your own family. I feel like in America, it’s maybe like 50-ish% of kids get a new backpack, but far less that get all new everything. Myself I basically used most things for about 3 years at least before they got too damaged. I would always throw them in the wash and they’d be good to go since I was really gentle with my stuff. and the only new stuff every year was a couple pencils, pens, folders, and notebooks. It’s really interesting you what you guys do in Germany, I really love hearing what other countries and states do. Thank you for sharing!
I paid a good penny for my daughters bag/lunch so that they'd last through elementary and the co. accidently sent me 2 sooo, yay, lol (couldn't return due to mongram).
I usually got a new backpack every year but they were always the inexpensive ones that something usually broke on it before the school year was over. Depending on if feet grew shoe sizes we would get 4 new pairs throughout the year tennis shoes, dress shoes, sandals, and winter boots and school shoes went off directly after school and we wore our old shoes for play. We each got a weeks worth of new clothes for school each year and had what was still nice and fit from the year before.
@@MrsBurns-xy7npget them a more pricey bag if you can and it will last longer without having to sew before but check the quality of the material make sure its a hard material so it lasts long.
She’s such an awesome mom. And when Ziya laid on her legs when they were in Target was priceless to see. I love when kids just want that closeness to their mom.

I would add praises for the choices she makes after asking her decision as opposed to convincing her to choose something else. Everything doesn’t have to match or be perfect. What’s most important is does Ziya like it. Will the item make her happy. She is so smart when you said this water bottle doesn’t have insulation and she responded with I don’t care if my water gets warm. Love that she understands and has a wide vocabulary range to be so young 😊

Yeah it’s about that time. My daughter and I just went through her room. Decluttering, organizing , cleaning, sanitizing, cleaning. A whole trash bag later. She got her book bag and sneakers, crocs,”purse”,and water bottle moody and her Lulu lemon! This week we will buy clothes and underclothes not to much. She’s good on school supplies
They have those exact lunchboxes, but with an icepack, water bottle, and a sandwich size container for just a couple of bucks more! I originally grabbed the leopard print one of those styles Ziya picked out, and then saw the other ones by the actual school supplies! 💟🖤💟🖤💟
Lol Ziya reminds me of my daughter no jeans. “Lizzy the what” 😂. You take me out when she wants to mix and match or she’s fully match 😂. Ziya has aways been Your Best friend but the more she grows and steps into her own independence the more your mother and daughter bond shows and I love it. ❤

Wow, my children can barely make it to Christmas break with her pencil case intact. I'm usually sewing and patching their bookbag by January.

I love that no matter how successful raven gets, she’s is still a smart shopper like buying a 2nd grader comfortable things from Walmart that they will most likely grow out of and get dirty instead of designer clothing and shoes that they won’t value.
