    The minimum between any hardie shakes is 1 1/2" I seen a lot smaller than that. Incorrect installation! I have been installing hardie for 35 years. This is a sham job. They will not cover the warranty!

      The frick are you talking about moron? The stagger is 16 inches, no latches are closer than an inch, get your eyes checked old timer

    So if im laying my first piece and the end doesnt fall on a stud, which end of the plank do i cut and how does that affect my stagger?

      Good question. The Factory edge will always butt together in the field. Meaning the edge that butts into the corner or window trim would be the cut edge

    • @TheDark_Sider
      @TheDark_Sider  8 месяцев назад +2

      All your cuts that butt into the trims get caulked over and sealed. Meaning you won't have any cut edges exposed

      @@TheDark_Sider I think I figured this out the other day. If I'm working on a wall going left to right, I think I would cut the left side of the board that butts up to the trim so the keyway is still visible on the right. Then on the next course up I take the same amount off + 16 inches more. Then on the next course the same amount +32. Sound right?

      @mae2759 Absolutely you got it. This way you have nails that hit studs on both ends of the piece, as the pieces are 4 feet long. Just make sure when you run into a door or window, you pull that same 16 inch layout to the other side, instead of reseting it. Try and picture the entire wall as a 16 inch grid

      Either you already know how to do Hardie Shake... Or you need to open your ears...
      And as far as being offended, can't help you with that. Try not being soft

    Can hardieshingle somehow be weaved on outside corners?

    • @TheDark_Sider
      @TheDark_Sider  11 месяцев назад +1

      Yes sir.. Sided a Net 0 house last year that wanted woven corners. Sometimes it doesn't land on a friendly latch. You want to have at least a couple inches to make the corner. If it lands in a crappy spot, I just cut out the last shake and use a bigger one. But still always maintaining my 16 inch stagger

    What about the 2- inch minimum gap from the roof? according to James Hardie Installation instruction?

    • @TheDark_Sider
      @TheDark_Sider  7 месяцев назад

      The back pan on the wall flashing is literally 3 inches. With a bugscreen nailed just above that there isn't enough space to hold it up 2 inches. You would see the prep underneath the siding looking up...
      They want 2 inches off the roof then start making wall flashing bigger than 3 inches. Until then they get 1 inch

    • @TheDark_Sider
      @TheDark_Sider  7 месяцев назад

      Bare in mind. The wall flashing needs taped to the envelope. I only have a certain amount of space before you can see it looking up
