I prefer snap locking legs because I can tell only by *looking* if a leg is not secured. My first tripod had twist-lock and drove me so crazy that I sent it back.
I’m still using mine. The big one is great for over the table shots in a pinch with that sideways angling neck (will be using it for the livestream tomorrow).
I like the tripod except for one thing, the ball camera head. I find it moves ever so slightly when taking landscapes. I would prefer a much better head and I did purchase another head. I have been using a sigma 150-600 zoom and the head does not cope with heavy weights.
@@WesPerry I went an bought a video head, as I shoot a little bit of video and I am glad I did. Lock it into place and it stays. It is a bit heavier but I'll learn to live with that.
Interesting video. Although I am having a hard time absorbing your menthod of testing its stability by hanging off of it. I was actually looking forward to seeing how stable it actually is while panning. Also, is it suitable for a long exposure photography? Thanks!
It's incredibly stable for Everything. Altogether a very rigid tripod. Overkill for most. But not fantastic for panning. The pan function on mine has broken down over time and is no longer very smooth. Quite unfortunate.
I am looking to get this tripod for my RUclips videos also! It looks so good a d the height is amazing! I would totally do a review on it as it dose so much i can use!! Is there any way you would be willing to send one for a review?
Thanks for the video, Wes and the weight testing XD Could you please let me know if the horizontal axis arm is the same length in the 67", 78", and 94" models? I basically shoot scaled car models on a desk. Looking forward to your thoughts.
@@WesPerry it has tripod mountable threading on the bottom. Had a large vintage tripod that just broke last night, so I’m looking to replace it with the K&F which I’ve had on my Amazon list.
I like that you have the quick release knob at the back of the camera so it's easy to use...too bad the front of the camera will block your spirit level mounted that way. Strange design, either you loose ease of use on the quick release knob, or you loose the level bubble.
Can the center column under the horizontal rotating column be taken off so that the horizontal column can get down close to the ground without the long column under the tripod?
You could have shot this in portrait layout so we could have...you know...seen the tripods. On a somewhat related note, you're cutting your lawn too short, it's a bit scorched.
My lawn too short??? Apparently my camera angle didn’t adequately show the jungle in which I live 😂 My grass that year died from yard flooding, not from scorch. Haha I constantly live on the edge of getting fined by the city for having my grass too long 😂
Spent nearly $200 and waited over a month to receive an even high-end tripod. Low-quality aluminum, faulty design, the locking device can't tightly lock up, the pole can't hold the camera steadily, called and emailed, they posted me some irrelevant shiity parts, totally not worth the money, customer service was terrible.
Nice review, Wes! That K&F tripod looks more cost effective than the Manfrotto tripod I recently got. Question on the larger K&F tripod plate: Is the the quick release plate flat at the bottom where it attaches to the tripod head? When I say flat, I mean not having a ridge on one side the way my Manfrotto plate has. The Manfrotto quick release plate can only be correctly inserted in one direction but not the other due to the un-even ridge design at the bottom. That actually drives me a bit nuts every time I have to re-insert the plate to the tripod head with camera attached, especially when trying to do so in the dark. I'm guessing you know what I mean by the bottom un-even ridge design of the quick release plate on a Manfrotto tripod.
@@WesPerry Oh interesting, I haven't checked the video link you posted yet. But are you saying you can replace the ridged OEM Manfrotto plate with a flat one? Or is that not possible? The bottom ridge design really is frustrating.
@@WesPerry Okay, got it! Just get that Hoage adapter plate thingy! I didn't know such an adapter exists. Yes, I too have pinched my fingers on the retarded Manfrotto design, glad to know I'm not the only one, haha!
I have a 8 year old Induro CF tripod that a mouse nibbled away at one of the feet. Still works great and is TALL, like me, but there is a lower weight capacity. Ideally I would like to get another tall CF tripod, but the thought of spending $1000+ keeps me away.
I received this tripod (travel version) as a gift. I tried it for about a month and came to the conclusion the tripod sucks. More cumbersome than anything else.
I don't understand which tripod you are talking about. There are mixed links! (Below) Everything is messed up. You'd have to be a CIA agent to figure out which tripod you're talking about. Which tripod is in this video? (Where is the link ? ) If we can put the pieces in place, we will solve this BIG mystery.
This video is a bit old now and I see they’ve since changed their URL’s, breaking the links. I’ll have to fix them later when I have some time to hunt them down again.
I forgot to mention: these are Arca-Swiss tripod plates. Otherwise I probably wouldn't even give them the time of day 😂
Does this mean that peak design clip plates will work on this tripod?
@@josuemaciel5717 Are peak design clip plates arca Swiss compatible? I don't have any myself.

twist locks are far better in every way though. flip locks are weaker, and let dust and crud into the legs.
Excellent and clear comparison review. I have just bought the 254T1.
The tripod I have was due for a replacement, and I ended up getting a K & F tripod because of your video. Thanks for the in depth reviews.
I hope you like it!
And I also hope you don’t try to hang from it! 🤕😂

Yeah the ball head is definitely the weakness here. My “good” ball head now is no longer smooth at all as well.

Hmm I can’t confirm that myself as I only have the one horizontal axis model here 🤔
I would Guess the bigger ones are longer, but definitely not sure.
Hey great video ! Do you know if both of these would hold a beastgrip pro cage with iPhone 14 pro max pretty easily ?
Was considering the horizontal tripod for a Kodak Luma 350 projector, mostly in studio use?
That little projector is Way below the weight rating for this tripod. Just would have to figure out how to attach it…

I suspect in this case the easier thing to do is just invert the legs.

Yep, that’s the config
What is the difference between sa254t1 and sa254t2 ???
