Hi, can you tell more about your blade? What do you enjoy using it? How do you like to play? What rubbers do you use on it? What's your ranking? Thanks!
Hello, IM on my second set of rubbers on the blade, when I first bought it i had tenergy 05Fx on the forehand and yazaka rakza 7 soft on the backhand, i changed it and used the rakza soft on the forehand but I did a bad job on the re gluing that I damage the rubber, so i change to my current rubbers, nittaku fast arc c-1 on the forehand and tenergy 64 backhand, I will change to tenergy 05 and tenergy 64. but I also plan to get another viscaria as backup so i can try other rubbers, I love the blade. when IM playing my best im around 1500 usatt rating...
The problem that I have with Viscaria is that it has so many weight variations. I had two Viscarias 84 grams and 90 grams. So it is very hard to find an exact back up blade even when I ask the seller/vendor to weigh the blade before sending it to me they still sent me the wrong weight blade. The weight difference varies between 80 grams- 95 grams. The one on the video is the Newest version of the Viscaria.
Butterfly TB ZLC (for me)is a better frame. I played both. More control and better topspin from my point of view. I also like the vibration after blocking with the TB ZLC. I played one year with Viscaria and Tenergy 05 (max). The first day I used TB ZLC I was in for a surprise. Weeks later I switched. My style is to attack. Nonetheless I don't recommend fast frames and fast rubbers to average players. Start with wooden (5ply) frames from Stiga and good rubbers like sriver or yasaka V. Control is the key to success. I play table-tennis for more then 40 years. Good luck! Steve.
Yes.. without a very very good techink i think its usless.. better take some wooden blade like stiga or peter corble, feel free to take a stroke, feel the game, enjoy.. im returnd after 7,8 years to tt and i decide i will not buy Viscaria becouse i cant train hard as i train earlier.. good attacking game need 5 times a week training. And i already have hard time with a lot slower carbon blade and spiny rubber dignics 05 max.. im geting frustratee, dont feel comofrtable to play.. i will buy maybe some wooden blade .. i lowe all round, control attack and block.. cheers
I really do love your videos - they are really a boost for the Table Tennis community! They would be even more awesome with the support of a vocal coach. Just a thought. Keep up your great work!
do you still think that? beause Kiri paulownia has same properties than balsa. except that it doesn't break as fast. a core ply needs to be strong. pure balsa blades tend to break with pro players. fact.
I'm retiring my DHS Hurricane Long 5 blades. I just picked up a Viscaria yesterday and it's amazing!!!!! I've got Hurricane 8 on the forehand. And Tenergy 05 on the backhand. And it's really proved to me why so many top players use this blade. Great review.
Don't get me wrong long 5 is a great blade, but I find it difficult to switch flanks with it while attack as compared toa bty gergely, haven't tried viscaria though
That tiny hologram lens makes the blade look cheap af whereas the old Arylate lens looked exclusive and cool. Additionally, the new ST grip is different from the old one of the Viscaria. :0
800 views, everyone surely should help out TTD and Dan and hit that like button guys :) Another awesome review bud, just need more of them. Say 1 a week mate ;)
1 a month would be not bad at all. It's hard to make such stuff weekly. Expensive first of all :) Secondly it must be a priority thing that you work on all week and deliver a review at the end of it.
Liam has an excellent technique! Ideal timing! No wonder he needs such a stiff blade like this :) Dan, big thanks for explaining the blade's composition and for making comparisons with other blades like Boll ALC and Apolonia. Those are the most interesting parts for me. Really helpful. Please consider reviewing Boll ZLC and Freitas ALC blades. Your reviews are so interesting to watch, like some sort of TV series :) Too bad it's not weekly but it would be great if it was at least monthly ;) As always, great job! Buy the way where's Tom? Aren't you guys hanging around anymore?
there is sort off an unwritten rule that whenever the opponent does an around the net/behind the back shot, you are basically not allowed to win the point
Pitchford is using a Mizutani blade recently. Both against Fan Zhendong and now against Japan team. Dan or anyone. Any idea which one is it. The ZLC or the super ZLC?
Hi, thank you for the detail review! Im currently choosing between Viscaria and Stiga Emerald vps v ~~ very undecided. Any comment on these two blades? I like the natural woody feeling, it has good direct feeling of the ball ,but looks like the viscaria is also pretty good and could be faster and easier to loop? I am a two side looper, usually short pushes on serves return, then attacking on the 3rd or 4th balls, then go into mid distance looping on rallies~~ please give some recommendations! Thank you!
Hey Ekco, thank you for recognizing me :) my videos are very old. I would love to make a new video but I got a shitty laptop and only Windows Movie Maker ... :(
They're similar blades. Same sort of construction. However, the OTC is faster than Viscaria and has a straight throw angle. Viscaria has a higher throw angle. Both blades are honestly only meant for high level players. But, I suppose it's good for the market for all the amateurs to buy the popular pro stuff, even though they'd be way better off with something much slower
@@ttjesus4959 what do u recommend I have a infinity vps v , I've played for a long time but recreationally, only recently playing more competitively and I already feel like I could handle a faster paddle
I want to have t05 on both side of my viscaria FL 😥... Too expensive.. Cost PHP 4,000.00 here in the Philippines.. Im currently using battle 2 forehand boosted.. And Glayzer on my backhand side.. Soon I'll change my forehand to Tenergy 05 for more consistent forehand...
the comparison viscaria with apolonia blade is imo incorrect ... the apolonia has the carbon fiber like an innerforce direct situated at the ayous core (limba-limba-ZLC-Ayous-ZLC-Limba-Limba) the viscaria has an outerforce construction (Koto-ALC-limba-Kiri-Limba-ALC-koto) . The outerforce is more stiff than innerforce due to the positioning of the carbon fibers not because of koto or limba at the outerlayer.. koto outerlayer is a bit harder than limba so gives a bit less dwell time ... the combination woodcore, veneers (hard, soft ,weight ) and position of the fibers determine speed and feel of the blade, NOT just the outerveneers !!
Dan, im from the UK. i have never been a member of a club but i would like to play competitively and hopefully become ranked in the UK, how do i go about doing this? thanks
If you've never played in a club, its advisable to find one near you and start playing against others, gain some local experience/coaching and then start entering tournaments when your ready
Most people at tournaments are pretty good. If you play casually then I'd advise you to train at a club for quite a while. Google clubs near you and train. Jumping in to tournaments may be the worse thing to do if you have expectations to win a game or two
This review would have been very helpful a a few months earlier !! Anyway I had gone ahead and got myself a Viscaria , So far I think its awesome . I bought from an online store in India and unfortunately it seems i have been sold an older production date blade , the packaging is the older type with the transparent plastic sheet on one side type. Biggest problem with Indian online sites selling TT equipment , old stuff many times.
please review sword gold / blue feather blade since no one discuss about it in the entire youtube universe, and dont forget to use cheap (less than $30 / sheet) Chinese rubber like milky way, etc.
To say liam handles this blade well is an underestimation he obviously felt there is subtle problems in the short game or he wouldn't of changed, i for one have used this blade and know it is a powerhouse in all aspects of topspin but suffers in the short game unless in pro hands..
Yes.. without a very very good techink i think its usless.. better take some wooden blade like stiga or peter corble, feel free to take a stroke, feel the game, enjoy.. im returnd after 7,8 years to tt and i decide i will not buy Viscaria becouse i cant train hard as i train earlier.. good attacking game need 5 times a week training. Viscaria is really nice, but imo it´s too much for any Amateur/intermediate even advance player due to it´s bouncy nature and lack of control. No amateur need any ALC based blade for a fully development of his game
that's not true. the ply dimensions are not the same. they only look that way bc the img is blurry. other people have compared the compositions with microscopes next to the tb alc. the viscaria's ALC layers don't line up with the TB's so there's a difference somewhere. the feel and output of the viscaria is distinctly different from tb alc
I think a TSP REGALIS red/blue review would be nice. It's a Japan rubber and could be an alternative for all the esn rubbers! Would also be your first TSP review. :-)
Zhang Jikes blade
Classic and fantastic blade. Good speed, spin and control.

Can you do a review of DHS Hurricane Long 5 please?
Are you sure the core is made from kiri ?
because it looks like balsa and also butterfly they self are writing it is made from balsa wood.
If it was balsa, the blade would most likely be a lot lighter
it does not have to...
viscaria was a good blace? timo boll = viscaria was same
speed?
What rubbers Liam use with the Viscaria?
What a difference between Visacaria and Zhang Jike ALC blade?
the comparison viscaria with apolonia blade is imo incorrect ... the apolonia has the carbon fiber like an innerforce direct situated at the ayous core (limba-limba-ZLC-Ayous-ZLC-Limba-Limba) the viscaria has an outerforce construction (Koto-ALC-limba-Kiri-Limba-ALC-koto) .
