The funny thing is I cared for a magpie for a few weeks, when I found it half dead in the park near where I live. I brought it to my garden literally just 5 metres away, to keep it safe. It couldn't fly and he had a gash along his neck and back (possible cat attack). We tried local wildlife aid... nothing. vets.... again nothing. I didn't want to leave it so I kept it in my large shed at night with everything it needed. Every morning at six, I'd let it out for fresh air, run around the garden, gave it food. He would like to spend hours outside can then run into the shed when he wanted. Everyday we did the same, but I kept my distance. And then finally it started to flap it's wings. And then the next day it flew away. So proud of him!
Had a similar experience, a young magpie got stuck in my window well, we fished him out, but the family had moved on, nursed him back to health until he could fly, and brought him to a nearby bird sanctuary sort of place, so he could grow up and learn how to be with others of his kind. Pretty sure he came back after with a family of his own
Sumayah Khan I raised one as well when I was young. They are very demanding. It was worth it. He was almost able to talk when a troop came through and he joined up with them. I miss that damn bird.
I raised an orphan magpie, she flew off eventually, but Maggie was amazing. My mom had a raven she rescued named Corvus, he loved riding horses, I think he flew off after a year or two as well, they're rambling souls.
I rescued a magpie, which I named Pacino, a few months ago which had been attacked by a cat and had an injured wing and all her tail feathers ripped out. So I kept her for a few weeks, fed her up, let her heal then released her. She will still come back to my garden, now with her mate, and I can recognize her from her uneven feathers. They're ridiculously smart animals and I totally get why he enjoys having one as a pet so much.
He found a sick wild animal and now keeps it locked in his house. Lol... what a passionate man??? If he really loved magpies so much he would let it be free and find a mate to make more magpies :V...

Also, I love magpies - it's so weird one of the smartest animals on the planet just walk among us in the cities, and we don't even pay much attention to each other.

Came for the guy, stayed for the calm voice and the bird with an attitude. And I share the thought of how fascinating crows are. I really love the idea of making people understand that they don't bring "bad luck" or stuff like that.
I fed a pair of wild crows in my garden this past few years. Unfortunately, last year the tamest disappeared. The other came briefly, then left. I can't help but think my favourite crow passed away. I used to feed them several times a day for about 5-6 years. I really miss them. The crow cafe sounds lovely! I never thought I'd love crows, until two adopted me! one thing I hate about humans is how fast we judge based on movies and what people say, without actual experience themselves. I use to be scared of sharks, spiders, snakes and crows... and not for a good reason.
狐 You don't seem so smart yourself, they don't hurt or kill people all the time. Sure people get snake and spider bites, but it's not often and it's because they scared the animal most of the time. I've held plenty of venomous species and they haven't been aggressive in the least
You're more likely to get kicked in the face by a horse than a shark biting you, it doesn't mean you should fear it. In fact certain animals sense fear, it makes them skittish and more likely to hurt people. I've saved animals that could've easily killed or injured me, if I feared them I wouldn't of done and they wouldn't of lived. People are always hesitant to help wild animals, please don't be one of those people. There's no greater feeling than an animal's trust, the magpie I saved nearly a decade ago still comes back to see me
Taamz Heart it is more of Christianity's doing. In Germanic and Pagan religion/tradition crows are seen as wise, asociated with gods, guiding the souls of the dead and so on. "Unfortunately they're not nice in the wild. They destroy eggs still in nests, kill other birds, and spread mites." That's most (if not all) birds. That being said, I have always loved birds (have 12 right now), they are fascinating to observe.
How is it weird to have household magpies? In Australia (rural areas at least) heaps of people have them as pets or just really friendly birds who come to your porch for a feed and pat.
I worked to farmers in the chicken house the chickens eat the back ends of each other when my parrots see a cut on me they with go for it i think all birds canables my parrots chicken and bones for bone marrow
i work at a plant farm (nursery) in queensland and theres a magpie that has only one foot and he comes 3 times a day while i work so i started buying some worms and fed him every day for about 6 months until one day he must of passed away. was such a awesome bird use to just sit on the plants and just watch as i worked and would fly really close when he was hungry.
Yes he is a magpie, but magpie, crows, ravens, and jays all belong to the same family called corvids. They are known to be extremely smart and are probably up there with humans on problem solving ability. Most birds in the corvid family do have a reputation for being bad omens and a nuisance, but they are pretty incredible birds.
In this now awful, selfish world we live in, it is so lovely and refreshing to see a young man like Charlie, do such a lovely, genuine act of kindness for this magpie, who without this young man's love would have died. It is clear the magpie adores the adopted parent (Charlie) and it is clear that Charlie feels the same. We can learn so much from creatures (even insects), they all do so much good towards the world and teach us how to treat the world and each other. Bees for example collect pollen then make all this wonderful honey, (that most of us take for granted). The love (like all animals show) is an unconditional love and Charlie will be paid tenfold for his genuine love and true kindness. I don't believe our creator is a man in the sky in judgement of us all, but i believe it's the spirit of all love and that the universe is made up all that love. This is truly a lovely video about love and the unconditional love Charlie gets in return is just a joy to see and so refreshing to listen to a young person that can actually speak the English language, rather than finishing every other sentence with "do ya know wha' i mean!" I hope they both have a long happy life together, 'Faith, hope and love, the greatest is love...'
London No Dippy Dolly Your the first person that thinks God is not a man. I've come to believe it doesn't matter whether God is male or female. I've never found anything in the Bible stating God is a Man. I think it's very possible that Men wanted God to be a Man thinking they are superior and wanted power over Women. Why make it a bad thing to educate Women anyway ? I find that suspicious right off the bat. Men are still trying to manipulate Women to this day. We're called a feminist if we try to stand up for Womens rights. Men have been fighting against Womens rights refusing to believe women are just as smart ect. I see no end to this ridiculous train of thought. Rape at an all time high due to this belief which is all about power over Women. Men have been treating Women as property since the beginning of time and until it stops things will never change sadly. Men would see things differently if the had to deal with being treated and thought of as a someones property to use and or abuse. No not all Men think like that. I know there are good Men out there. I applaud them all and thankful. Never change guys 😎
Anita Hammonds The Bible never states God is a man, it's unequivocally stated 'God is Spirit' in the Bible. God is only referred to as 'He' by way of human understanding, pretty much no Christian except for little kids believes God to be a man in the sky :) Just wanted to let you know! It's a common misconception of Christianity in particular that we believe in a 'man in the sky', but we believe in an all loving spirit just as much as any new-age follower or philosopher does :)
i do agree that animals are wonderful and we should appreciate them like charlie does. i won't really touch on the religious bits. but i think it's uncalled for to insult other people's way of speaking. when someone grows up around people who talk a certain way, it becomes so ingrained in them that that just becomes a part of their character. i think it's wrong to disregard that and pass it off as "they have trouble speaking english."
There's a magpie that has just chilled outside my window for the last few months, it comes and sits there every morning! I kept associating it with bad luck and hoping it would go away but then I realised it was actually a very beautiful animal and I look forward to seeing it while I'm working away!
I also live with a Magpie and really dont wanna miss it but if it wants to be free and leave for good, so shall it be. But gladly He always comes back after i helped him getting fit again. I cant Tell how smart and lovable they are
What an incredible person with a big heart. I love how he makes a difference to educate people! It truly is nothing what people think of birds they are indeed very social and very smart!
Magpies are so wonderful! i had the privilege of raising one here in New Mexico. She (?) had fallen in water and my neighbor found her and gave her to me. Rraca (Urraca is Magpie in Spanish) took over my life too, but it was the most fun. Does yours ever get mad tho...wow, she would try to take anything I was using, especially paint brushes, and would get so mad when I would take them from her! I learned to distract her with something else, an angry bird with a big pointy beak and strong feathers is not to be messed with. She flew all over the house, and outside, I would call her and she would land on my head, ouch. cuz they land and grab at the same time.. she loved to follow me on my bicycle, and would sit on the handle bars sometimes. She also stole things and had hidey holes all over the house. She hid peas in my pants cuffs one time, so silly. And loved baths, what a mess, and would dry her feathers in the sun with her head cocked to one side, basking I guess...I really miss her.... the flock of Magpies here wasnt her flock, and she was getting pecked on, so I worried about her fitting in...but there was a terrible accident, one of those split second timing things, and she got killed, so I didnt get to know her but one summer. I miss her terribly and loved watching yours in her beautiful "nest". I was hoping Rraca would be able to live wild...and just come visit from time to time, and I still cry when I really think about her. Her poop is still on lots of places, its hard as a rock and doesnt smell at all. RIP Rraca, you were loved.
We have em here in Colorado and I've always been fascinated with them, I think they're gorgeous birds! I've read about them and exactly how smart they are, very high intelligence. What a wonderful experience you had with yours!! Too bad it started out with the injury, but that bird was sure lucky, the world needs more people like you 😊
Awesome story .... You're a very special person to have cared for this baby bird when he needed you most and continued to do so, even when it became difficult (poop everywhere!). SO MANY people do the opposite and turn away. You have my deepest admiration, sir. Thank you, sincerely !
I had a cat that got hit by a car 11 years ago and I haven't been able wrap my head around having another pet since. I've even gone to the shelter a few times, and left alone.
"I think when something needs you that much you can't help but respond, even if they're climbing up on your head and shitting on it" No truer words been spoken
Yusra Shariff mealworms are actually commonly used as food in some countries but, as someone who has tried before, yeah he's pretty right on that. either oats or kind of a nutty flavor.
I have been visiting and feeding two black crows on Hawks hill in Sausalito above the Golden Gate bridge where I take my morning walk. These two crows are the sweetest and mannerly birds I give them old fashioned oats and the show gratitude they bring me a gift of sticks and pebbles. They are very large as roosters. They are cleaner than humans, they love to clean and take bathes humans should learn to be as clean as they are.
The crow family definitely deserves respect and rebranding, they are such cool, social and intelligent animals. I remember working one day by the window and a crow was playing by taking stones, flying up, dropping them and trying to catch them again before they hit the ground. After a while some of his/her flock joined in and they were racing each other. It made me very happy to see animals doing something that must have been just for fun :) and not only that, but a game they had invented themselves.
This has been my life almost to the letter in the 3 weeks since I found a baby blackbird. She's currently on my (very scratched) shoulders preening her feathers.
haha I was only reading the comments to see if anyone else saw this! I have a feeling that it might be her but who knows tbh...still, it's nice to imagine ehy? 😂
I love crows. We have crows, mockingbirds, seagulls, morning doves, finches all around us. Crows are so special. They take care of each other always coming to help each other when one is in trouble. Just awesome work. Birds sharing your life take over. We have a cockatoo and the world revolves around him!!
I rescued a young magpie wich couldn't fly, bring it home for almost 3 weeks, I taught Pica (his name) to fly cause I had some experience with juvenile lovebirds. Sometimes when I went for a bike I'd take it with me, but one day it just flew to a very tall tree... I waited for hours, but it still wasn't super confident in flight so I had to leave it there. I hope it's doing good and learnt how to care for itself; even if our bond lasted only for 3 weeks, today I still miss my little Pica
8.21.2017. i have a cockatiel that is 24 years old. the band on his leg says "4-93". i got him for free. he was flying around my neighborhood in the summer of 1993. he went down to drink out of a mud puddle and i told my wife "that's somebodies bird that got out". i went up to him and he hopped on my hand and i put him on my shoulder. i took him home and the rest is history. my 2 girls when they were growing up loved him and it was a good thing. he is part of the family. he has about a 5 word vocabulary. his name is BOYD.
If memory serves, cockatiels are related to the parrot group of perching birds. Since parrots, such as the African Grey, can live up to 80 years old in captivity, I am not surprised he is that old ...
I had a Maggie as a pet when I was about 12 years old....they like it when you roll them over & scratch there belly. they will play fetch too. there more intelligent than most people realize.
Some birds still feed and protect their babies when they fall out of the nest. And I am pretty sure crows are one of those birds. So don't be too quick taking a fallen bird home with you. Not only you will risk being attacked, it's not always neccesary. Only when the bird is injured or in serious danger (like traffic) or when you are absolutely sure it's abandoned from the nest. 🕊
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this!....I am in love with crows I live in Seattle Wa. And have been developing a relationship with our crows by constantly feeding them and have been gifted by them. I ADORE crows ravens and magpies! Thank you for sharing this BEAUTIFUL story and for lovingvthese AMAZING birds! 🐦
wish there were more people like him in the world, i CNT understand how anyone can hurt any animals it puzzles me like wtf??? there does be some awful cruel shit online i cnt and wont ever watch but ive been told and even without seeing this cruelty my mind is torturted, i just cnt understand why, what do they get out of being cuel? try stepping bk and getting to know animals better, they will bring out sensitive side and are so loyal to us humans, animals could teach us humans a thing or two, this magpie guy must be a bird wisperer, so sweet love it, wish their were much More people like him,he's cool i like his style😁😇😁
I used to raise chickens. One day a chick hatched, but it was different to all the other chilcks. It was a miniature. It must have been the first chick to be born dwarf. It never grew bigger like it's siblings. I looked after it for weeks and called it mini. It was black and I had to hand feed it as it found it difficult to dig for worms like the rest of the chickens. Oneday I left it for 10 minutes in the back garden with the rest of the chickens, and when I came back a magpie had picked it up. The magpie flew with it. I was torn. Heart-broken. Not all birds are cute and cuddly, especially birds of prey like this magpie.
Magpies can eat birds and still be cute. It's just their diet was evolved to be that way. Doesn't make them rude animals. Also, a magpie isn't a bird of prey, it's a crow species
i mean, that's just a wild animal doing what it does in terms of the diet needed to survive. it doesn't make it evil or not capable of friendly behaviour. I'm sure you or someone you love eats meat and/or fish - and humans aggressively farm and don't need the meat to survive. but that doesn't make them as individuals bad or uncompassionate.
I made my profile pic in honor of my cat that died 7-6 years ago,he was my best friend and my family all the same. Some people dont under stand that nature is beautiful in its own way. Some people and animal cant trust, but in their own way they are beautiful and they try to live on with families. To all the hunter out there, please think about the animals family, think about their past, think about what your doing and look into their eyes if you see fear, that means they have had horrible expirences like seeing their family be slaughtered so young by hunters like you.
His so eloquently spoken. It really goes to show that all animals have their own personalities.

Have you ever smelled rotting bird shit are you sure you can handle it?
I have a pet sparrow. She steals cereal from my bowl and plays in my hair. And is sitting on my finger as I type this!
Unfortunately they're not nice in the wild. They destroy eggs still in nests, kill other birds, and spread mites.
Moistenator... Really? But they're so tiny lol.
dude chill tf out oml
"Unfortunately they're not nice in the wild. They destroy eggs still in nests, kill other birds, and spread mites." That's most (if not all) birds. That being said, I have always loved birds (have 12 right now), they are fascinating to observe.

Who cares though?
How is it weird to have household magpies? In Australia (rural areas at least) heaps of people have them as pets or just really friendly birds who come to your porch for a feed and pat.
This is a Eurasian Magpie, not an Australian Magpie.
I thought it was ileagle to keep a magpie in the UK 🤔
Isn't Aussie magpies known for their anger issues?
I love crows they are so intelligent and cute. Wonderful birds. Cool guy also
He looks like a magpie
A majestical one
This is not a magpie come to Australia and you will see the truth
London No Dippy Dolly 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
God is only referred to as 'He' by way of human understanding, pretty much no Christian except for little kids believes God to be a man in the sky :)
Just wanted to let you know! It's a common misconception of Christianity in particular that we believe in a 'man in the sky', but we believe in an all loving spirit just as much as any new-age follower or philosopher does :)
London No Dippy Dolly I agree to disagree, but I also agree that animals are very wonderful and unique!
i do agree that animals are wonderful and we should appreciate them like charlie does.
i won't really touch on the religious bits.
but i think it's uncalled for to insult other people's way of speaking. when someone grows up around people who talk a certain way, it becomes so ingrained in them that that just becomes a part of their character. i think it's wrong to disregard that and pass it off as "they have trouble speaking english."
There's a magpie that has just chilled outside my window for the last few months, it comes and sits there every morning! I kept associating it with bad luck and hoping it would go away but then I realised it was actually a very beautiful animal and I look forward to seeing it while I'm working away!

Orcas of the skies, that's what I call them. Beautiful!
=..(...
We have em here in Colorado and I've always been fascinated with them, I think they're gorgeous birds! I've read about them and exactly how smart they are, very high intelligence. What a wonderful experience you had with yours!! Too bad it started out with the injury, but that bird was sure lucky, the world needs more people like you 😊
I am so sad for you .. one day there will be another being that needs your assistance and will your beautiful heart. 🤗
I got really invested in your story. RIP Rraca.

Why do the cute ones always have meal worm breath?
Awesome story .... You're a very special person to have cared for this baby bird when he needed you most and continued to do so, even when it became difficult (poop everywhere!). SO MANY people do the opposite and turn away. You have my deepest admiration, sir. Thank you, sincerely !
7:10 I'm about 98% sure that is Billie Piper!!!

It is her.
Please lord dont let the bird be run over by a bus. That man will not survive.

That's really sad, I'm sorry to hear that. I've lost a couple of my own.
My cockatiel flew away about a month ago. It really crushed me for some time :(
I had a cat that got hit by a car 11 years ago and I haven't been able wrap my head around having another pet since. I've even gone to the shelter a few times, and left alone.

" I did taste one it tasted like oats" is he serious 😂😂😂
Yusra Shariff mealworms are actually commonly used as food in some countries but, as someone who has tried before, yeah he's pretty right on that. either oats or kind of a nutty flavor.
They are very nutritious 😌
he reminds me of Will Turner from Pirates of the Caribbeans
Amazing people living with birds...I wish a life like this...this is paradise..God bless you all for ur selfless love and care
This has been my life almost to the letter in the 3 weeks since I found a baby blackbird. She's currently on my (very scratched) shoulders preening her feathers.

That's definitely Billie Piper, yep 😊
I'd have to agree it looks exactly like her. I just knew I recognized the face when I saw it.
I love crows. We have crows, mockingbirds, seagulls, morning doves, finches all around us. Crows are so special. They take care of each other always coming to help each other when one is in trouble. Just awesome work. Birds sharing your life take over. We have a cockatoo and the world revolves around him!!
Great story, and a very wonderful, caring man, who he knows, is extremely privleged to have a bond, with a beautiful, intelligent bird .

they are a " pretty couple" ..
If you can potty train a parrot I'm sure you can potty train a magpie, he should give it a go at least!
When your summoning level reaches 47....
@7:10 is that billie piper, she is pretty
Harrison Quinn I so saw that too
Harrison Quinn yes it is Billie piper
Harrison Quinn I thought I was going mad when I saw her.
I was just checking the comments to see if I was the only one that saw that lol. That smile is so unique, that it just has to be
Yeah that definitely looks like Billie Piper
8.21.2017. i have a cockatiel that is 24 years old. the band on his leg says "4-93". i got him for free. he was flying around my neighborhood in the summer of 1993. he went down to drink out of a mud puddle and i told my wife "that's somebodies bird that got out". i went up to him and he hopped on my hand and i put him on my shoulder. i took him home and the rest is history. my 2 girls when they were growing up loved him and it was a good thing. he is part of the family. he has about a 5 word vocabulary. his name is BOYD.
If memory serves, cockatiels are related to the parrot group of perching birds. Since parrots, such as the African Grey, can live up to 80 years old in captivity, I am not surprised he is that old ...

Crows are one my favorite animals of all time. They are so intelligent and I love these birds.
He’s beautiful
The human capacity for connection is astounding. Well done, good work.
He looks like Orlando Bloom.
Wow, two year, what an achievement.
Feel the sarcasm.
I had no idea who that guy was, but he does have some backstory to him.

I'm crying
Magpies can eat birds and still be cute. It's just their diet was evolved to be that way. Doesn't make them rude animals. Also, a magpie isn't a bird of prey, it's a crow species
i mean, that's just a wild animal doing what it does in terms of the diet needed to survive. it doesn't make it evil or not capable of friendly behaviour. I'm sure you or someone you love eats meat and/or fish - and humans aggressively farm and don't need the meat to survive. but that doesn't make them as individuals bad or uncompassionate.
Magpies aren’t birds of prey. While they do eat young birds and eggs yes I wouldn’t really call them very predatory, probably opportunistic
I'm so sorry, it's just Nature, I felt my heart broke for a minute.
They are always welcome in my garden, jackdaws, crows, magpies, I love them all…….so characterful and intelligent ❤️❤️❤️❤️
They have a lovely home, tastefully furnished and nice outdoor space.
