Hebrew - First Words - דְּבָרִים רִאשֹׁנִים - Free Biblical Hebrew - Lesson 1

  • First lesson! Don't worry, the alphabet will come later, and that's for a good reason! Remember that when you were a child your parents didn't teach you the alphabet first! You learned some words and phrases before you learned the alphabet. Also, we don't include subtitles in our videos because your parents didn't give you subtitles when you learned your language. The best way to learn a language is to experience it like you did as a child. Remember to have fun and enjoy it! Watch this as many times as you need to before going to the next lesson. When you watch it the second time, we recommend repeating the words aloud. If you want to learn more about our method of teaching, and why it's the scientifically-proven most effective method for language acquisition, you can check out: freehebrew.online/why-our-method

Please note that we purposely don't include any phonetic transliteration or translation of the words in these first lessons, so you can learn more naturally, and so that people from all languages can follow no matter what alphabet they use. After a few more lessons, you will learn the Hebrew alphabet and then everything will be written on the screen in Hebrew. If you already know the Hebrew alphabet, you can read along using the lesson scripts which you can find here: freehebrew.online/resources/
Please don't bother to comment asking for a transliteration or translation, because we're not going to do it 😉 You can learn more about why here: freehebrew.online/why-our-method/

It’s surprising to me how fast I remembered the words with this style of learning. I have attempted to learn Biblical Hebrew the traditional way and came away with small portions. I am inspired and excited to learn this language through your free classes. I believe it will have a great impact on my bible study. God bless you and the ministry you have been given and Christ be exalted.

Wonderful! This is how I learned Spanish And French way back in 1981. My teacher was educated by Jesuits in Mexico City. Later as a 15 year old, her father, the US ambassador was moved to the French consulate. There she learned French and German. Her methods were just like yours. It is how my pea brain is wired. It stimulates memory cortex and the photographic area of my brain as I can see every page in that first Spanish book we used exactly 40 years later!!! That alone merits scientific investigation. She did not speak English in class. She said there was plenty time after class to practice English. You guys are re-teaching my mind and my heart to love Language again. I appreciate your kind methods and doing what works to teach people like me who may never have been inspired were it not for people like you and my wonderful teacher in high school. It is amazing what the human mind can learned if challenged so effectively as you two do. You are both lovely people.

Really great illustrations, pronunciations and corrections. Thank you very much for taking the time to bless others with knowledge of the Hebrew language. Along side with google as a dictionary this was really easy to understand.
Zeh refers to masculine and zot to feminine. Tov meod means very good, yaffe means beautiful or maybe as a way of saying nice 👍🏼. Learning big and small was crucial too and the the word ha means “the” which is why it is used before presenting the animal or person.
God bless you two for your hard work in making this happen. Great way of serving the Lord with what you have.

I can understand everything in the lesson after viewing it once. I reviewed the lesson immediately. I can hear you speaking the word with my eyes closed and I see the objects together with your voice. Now that I am 55 years old,I may have to repeat the lesson 3 or 4 more time for overkill. If you think you have learned something and you don't remember it a day, a week, a month later, you it did not permanently imprint on the memory cortex. Repetition, repetition, repetition and verbal emphasis is my key to learning. I learned this as quickly as I learned Spanish on that first day of class 40 years ago. Thank you so very much

Wonderful pronounciation! So different from most of hebrew lessons which make no difference between ע and א, or between ח and כ. Finally! Thank you!

I have reached this amazing video giving me a steep learning curve. I have forgotten the best way to master a language that I must have experienced during a toddler.TODA from Japan.

I appreciate your effort for making video. These days I fall in love watching your video as a person who really wants to learn Hebrew.
My dream is singing Hebrew songs in my recital. I'm sure I'll sing in Hebrew soon because of your video. I also get a lot of inspiration from you as a RUclipsr.
