Walking in circles is a great tip that I see people not understand even in hard. Keep in mind that if you are playing with someone else and you are not in the room with them (either you are on the top part or you're in the previous room peeking out). The person in the room is taking all of the agro.
Haven't watched a lot of your stuff yet. But I am definitely planning to. While I certainly am more than appreciative of the tips and tricks aspect of content, just the raw footage(especially the runs/gameplay with live commentary or voiceover) is something I appreciate more. Setting a little section of my brain aside to watch and listen to your runs while I run the game makes it feel more like if I and a friend were hanging out trying for new pbs or trying to do random stuff. Even if it's not wholly accurate to the reality, it's a great motivator at the very least. I prefer the raw footage, but even this level of editing is enough, just cause of the quality of the content itself.
A few very quick tips in terms of editing, I'd recommend a number top left showing which tip you're on, also some onscreen text with the main points you just said, etc
I'd also like to add that maybe you should turn down the music a little bit, cause it's around the same pitch as your voice, so it kinda overlaps and can get hard to hear. Had to use subtitles to catch every little detail, but your tips are so good! Keep up the good work!
Awesome content... I like your video format and the information you provide is actually useful for improving. Thanks for sharing your knowledge on this gem of a game.
Good tips bottybudman! I'll add some comments to the tips: Movement - Like all other games autosprint is purely based on preference - I don't for instance. If you don't want to use it, you can simply hold the sprinting button and press crouch with the lower part of your finger to do a powerslide/bunnyhop. - When you unlock the gadgets, hero cape is a great tool for vertical mobility, since you can travel downwards fast and easily line up headbonks to go up again. Grapple is also amazing for target prioritization. I-frames - On Recon, the blink i-frames can be used to land a free melee-hit on enemies, that explode on death or have spikes on top of them. Running in circles - You should also beware of melee-badbots if you are walking while doing this.
@@jinxedmerphit9002 On a topic of running in circles: There were also summon pods? Like pyro or hack pods that summon aoe explosion in certain area. I haven't really checked it but in EA they were definitely trying to aim where you go but in 1.0 they neither do this anymore or just became very inaccurate. Have you noticed something like this or am I just became better with movement?
my 2 biggest tips are to not just walk straight into enemies, i used to do this and just get hit by the guy i was walking at but i just thought he'd die if i focused him hard enough, but now i hold a or d instead of w and win instead my other tip is to just focus 1 enemy at a time, usually the most dangerous one, but i try to only move on to another target once my current one is dead (hunter's mark is a good way of thinking about this)
I still have questions about elements: (burn makes sense) For cryo and shock: does having more elemental damage at all increase the actual damage an enemy takes? I believe cryo gets a full stun, just like shock, so what is the advantage of shock? Does it full stun sooner? Edit: I looked up the wiki. Here's what I found: Burn from burn weapons gives 70% extra damage as burn damage and 35% as an affix (half). Cryo does not fully stun; it only slows. It is applied as 90% of damage to the cryo meter from all sources (affix or not) Shock fully stuns with the same 90% of damage rate. You kinda need upgrades to elemental damage for shock to be good against most enemies, but they are easy to get. I think enemies typically have less elemental health than actual health, so you will get the shock effect, but it can come very late in an enemies life. Having an ability that shocks only makes shock weapons very viable as a way to finish applying shock or cryo.
About the random effects. In dota you have what they call "pseudorandom" it escalates the proc change when it misses, but its base chance is modified such that the effective average is still the correct percentage. So do roboquest random procs still respect the original chance with the average proc rate?
Dont know the exact math on that tbh but it is probably fairly close, the main reason for the effect (we assume)is to stop something from just never triggering and feeling lacking
I can not really help with specs I'm afraid,.I dont have enough info to help on such matters. Maybe join the roboquest discord and ask in there for any help from others whi run it on a laptop.
Great content man also with your last tip about the chance increasing by 5% if not applied, does this also work for everything such as perks and items if they have a chance too? I hope that makes sense as i struggle to explain things also do you know when or if they will add more content to the game? Loving the vids too keep it up.👍
so "lucky crit" or "auto crit" does not gain an increase as you go, honestly unsure about baby boom. can't think of many other chance to triggers perks off the top of my head.
Great video, didn’t know about the elemental affix differences or the feels good luck system. Does the feels good luck system apply to other things besides affixes, like lucky crit or items like hotdog?
Im a dude who has been posting some vids on this game as a new RUclips dude and perhaps you would consider a collaboration multiplayer video. It would be you being the best person I've seen play this game thus far and then somebody who is getting back into the game since 1.0. I also am struggling with editing/ have no idea really how to edit. I used Microsoft paint on my last thumbnail lol. Either way great stuff man!
Editing is difficult man, I think that the most important rule is to cut away as soon as you've made your point and not a second longer and then to cut out any repeated information. that'll take out a lot of dead air and whatnot a bit more technical would be thinking about where your eyes are drawn to on the screen or what direction your character is turning in, and trying to match that on each side of the cut. Easiest way to achieve that is by just standing still when you anticipate you might want to cut, but really if it's a video game, more often than not the eyes are drawn towards the center of the screen anyway, so you probably don't need to worry about that. on the audio side of things, I would recommend turning off the soundtrack (as good as it is) in the background of when you're just speaking like in this video, and then add a couple songs in the background in post. That way your game music isn't subconsciously distracting from or in some cases overpowering what you're saying. It also makes cuts less jarring because the audience still has the soundtrack to sort of anchor themselves to. And if you need, you could just use the songs from this game. You can sit in an area for a little while, turn off the volume of everything else, and record the sound of just the music, it's what I did lol
Thank you for takin the time to write that out, good points all around that I will try to be aware of, in regards to the ost when I do stuff like that I just get the tracks from spotify
I haven’t heard anyone else in the RoboQuest community talk about explosive jumping, I think it’s one of the coolest things in the game, being able to fly across the map in seconds is amazing! Yet no matter what I do I can’t find a tutorial on it. Does anyone know where to find one?
I forgot to turn down music following 1.0 release so it was up at max, combine that with my mic being on its way out XD should be better in future vids I do apologise about that.
