Wind speed up there some times reach 100-150mph and more. As another commenter said, it's safe as long the plane moves fast enough wind speed wise, to avoid an aerodynamic stall. When I went to England from Florida, it took about 8 hours to get there. Back to Florida, it took around 9.5 hours to get to Florida.
