Thanks Kyle and Alyssa. Every road trip you do helps me feel confident about road-tripping in our Tesla Model Y in the future. Lotsa love from Toronto.
The "ham" in the waffle is actually brown cheese. A norwegian specialty made from pure goatmilk. Or a combo of goat and cow. The ones from goat milk is way more pungent in the taste. The small cute cars you keep noticing is actually 4 wheel mopeds. They have a 50cc engine. You can drive them from your 16 with a special moped license. In Norway you can't get a driver's license for cars before your 18. But mostly it's just older people who drive those cars now a days.
Expecting to see Teslabjorn turn up. In UK but watch all the out of spec and Bjorn video's. When I watch the Norway video's I expect to here "how you like that s**t" :-) Great video guys
I was in Nordkapp last August, drove from east all the way thru Finnmark. Nordkapp itself isn´t that amazing, but the drive there is pretty great. Studded tires are sure way to wreck the roads, and they´re damn noisy. I prefer Nordic friction studless tires, which actually are equal or better with the studded tires when temperature is -5C or lower.
1:02:30 I used the recharge chargers with my Model 3 about two weeks after you were there. With my Elli RFID it was NOK 0.20 cheaper than the Supercharger. Good that you didn´t get the burger at the Esso station. That was not only one of the most expensive burgers in my life but one of the worst as well. So better stay away from this Esso´s burgers. The waffle you had was with Brunost (brown cheese). Brunost is not a normal cheese, it´s made by cooking whey (mostly from goat milk) until most of the water evaporates and the milk sugar turns into caramel. Fun fact about Brunost: It contains so much fat and suggar that it took four days to put out a fire caused by a truck loaded with Brunost in a tunnel. The cause of the fire was believed to be that the trailers wheel bearings caught fire after one wheels brake locked, the trailer bed caught fire as a result of that and eventually the whole trailer including 27 metric tons of Brunost was on fire.
You could have taken the ferry from Bodo over to the Lofoten islands (that’s what you were checking out at 54:09 ). Probably then most beautiful place in Norway
A little fun fact, the model y you borrowed on your last norwegian trip is newer than the model 3 you’re driving on this adventure! Sweet road trip video as always!
Last June I stayed in that hotel over the motorway - no evening meal was available but the reception recommended an Italian restaurant in Malvik which was great. The hotel though was freezing cold even in July and although we had rooms facing the gas station the noise of traffic going under the hotel was very loud. We took the same route via Bodo to the north but when we left Tromso the only road to the north was supposed to be closed due to the bridge having been washed away………… 700km detour via Sweden and Finland to Alta! Took the risk and found the road was open but single file traffic with traffic lights. We took 28 days to drive Bergen/North Cape/ Bergen. I had booked an iD3 for the holiday but Hertz at Bergen was fresh out - we got a Toyota Corolla self charging hybrid wagon. That was a Zip Wire at the hotel - we stayed there on the way south and it’s was really really busy with people using the Zipwire! We used a similar parking garage in Tromso and I reckoned it was previously a WW2 airraid shelter- lots and lots of EV chargers too in there. We stayed at the Scandic Hotel in Tromso that has its restaurant on the top floor with staggering views along the fjord
22:30 It does state the year, it is M in the VIN which stands for 2021 Model, but it could be produced in 2020. So not quite sure, it could be the old Panasonic 78kWh or the newer 82kWh. Also you can press on the button to open the charge port, you should know that right?;)
@@Harrythehun Boring landscape in Sweden and Denmark. Only forest. Hardly any mountains. Norway is much more beautiful. If nice weather is important, Spain or Italy is the place to be, almost any country south of Scandinavia have better weather.

Winter tyres really add up to average consumption. I did a little test when swtiching from Michelin P4:s to Studded Nokian Hakkapeliitas last october, I drove 50km right before and right after switching the tyres. With Michelins the average consumption was 145wh/km and with the Hakkapeliitas it was over 180wh/km on the same route. The Rolling resistance with full winter tyres is so much more compare to regular Summer tyres. -Model 3 SR+ 9/21.
Looking forward to watching this trip as I plan driving from near London to Nordkap next spring in my MYLR. ( delaying until I can do it without snow tyres)
Nice to watch an American experience. Some advices: -Check the tire pressure. Refill if too low. It might drop in winter and reduce range a little. And it seems like the car has a tire pressure warning on screen. -Range is probably due to cold temperature. -Don’t charge next morning, when the battery is cold. Always charge right after driving. -Don’t scratch off dust from the back up camera. You damage the lens. Use a spray with wiper fluid. …and the reason to dirty cars is sand and salt against icy roads…
"Maybe I can sit up there and watch the cars go by"😁 When I saw that hotel overpass, I knew you would love to be up there naming each and every car that goes by😆 I do the same when I’m driving, I am always spotting my friends and cool cars going through town. Most people see nothing but the road, which is OK I suppose
I noticed the sign of low pressure of tires on the Tesla’s display. If that is not a glitch and due to low temperature and winter tires the efficiency of the car was not quite liked by Kyle.
I was thinking.... don't forget the ferry! The mountains right after the ferry are the most beautiful in Norway, I think, and the national mountain "Stetind" is in that area. Lofoten has a lot of great mountains, too, right by the sea. It's great to have you in Norway😊
45:30 Most likely the LED-bar is the Lazer elite 18. It has an ALC control box that lets you turn it on and off by blinking 5 times within 4 seconds. I have one on my TM3 LR, and its awesome on dark norwegian winter roads.

A 200 kW CHAdeMO is rare, but not unusual - and not the maximum. In 2020, they started to roll out up to 400 kW CHAdeMOs and even 500 kW ones; both more for industrial applications (trucks and construction machines) at the moment, but the system's apparently far from gone despite Mennekes and J1772 funnily enough.
